Sullivan: Bills' McDermott choked away Super Bowl-caliber season
May Day 10 replied to QCity's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is correct. This isn't the way the Bills are run, and this culture is a big piece of this engine. Start being petty and you stop attracting up-and-comer coordinators and execs who want to advance their careers. I am sure behind closed doors there is a lot of attention being paid to the failures of the end of that game there. It is being done respectfully and clinically. They will use it to get stronger. -
I complain, AND also solely blame the Bills for blowing the game at the end of Regulation. I would complain regardless. Same as the stupid NHL Offside challenge rule. If it goes for or against the Sabres, I loathe it and turn the game off if it happens. Personally, I like some variation of the NCAA rule.

Honestly what do you do moving forward?
May Day 10 replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wonder if Brady retires, if Gronkowski would consider signing with the Bills. -
Also, if the Chiefs score a touchdown, say and get the PAC. The Bills get the ball, drive down for a TD... They have the ability to go for 2 for the win. Its in their hands. I think its a fair chance. Then do the sudden-death maybe.

Honestly think some version of the NCAA overtime is the most equitable and the way to go. Let each offense line up from the 50 and see what they can do. Mandate 2PC for touchdowns

Isaiah McKenzie aka, Lil Dirty, sounds like he’s moving on
May Day 10 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seems like he is a clear better, faster, and more versatile replacement for Beasley, no? -
Maybe make it the current rules, but the team receiving the 1st half kickoff gets the overtime possession. That way, the teams know going in and can plan accordingly. It could also add a slight advantage to receiving in the 1st half as opposed to the Belichick double-dip strategy at halftime.

Good luck and have fun watching. I have always kind of liked KC since the early 90s, they were always my Tecmo Super Bowl team, but right now its difficult because both teams are fighting at the top. At least the teams played in what is already considered one of the greatest playoff games of all time. Sick and tired of being on the losing end of stuff like this though. Hopefully the Bills get their time.

It is probably time to move on from Hughes. Probably Star as well, although he may be tough to replace. Beasley and Sanders should go too, McKenzie can fill in the Beasley role, we have Davis, and can find another WR for cheaper. They need a play wrecking player on the D-Line. Oliver and Phillips are both looking very good, and I can see those 2 taking another big step next season. Need someone on the end though. Wish they can get someone like Khalil Mack. I think Von Miller and Clowney are UFA. In the draft, they will probably need to really consider getting a CB in the first round. They also need to start thinking about passing the torch with the Safeties and grooming someone before Hyde/Poyer are gone. Are we still freaking out about the OL? They seemed to kind of find a groove later. I like the way Singletary looked the last 5 games or so. Hopefully he can maintain that progression. This version of Singletary, plus some sort of ultra speedy RB threat who can catch passes would be lethal. I wouldnt hate a Lee Smith style un-sexy blocking TE Is it time to start to be open to trading 1st and 2nd round picks for the short term gains? It seems that teams can do this and also maintain success (Rams). Typically those players are valuable with the rookie deals, but we arent getting great mileage out of those high picks as of late. *edit: They traded a 1st for Diggs, forgot about that -
It was a hard loss AND we closed the gap

They really need to get the playoffs to run through buffalo next season. -
Provide you(r) own Hot Take Monday [edit]

I'm not sure I'm completely on board with the squib kick idea. That could easily turn into annihilating the coaches for kicking to a person who ran it back or the ball going out of bounds. They had the ball at the 25 with 13 seconds left. That should be easily dependable -
Bojo cost the Packers the game...Beane was right?
May Day 10 replied to hmsmystic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bojo was great last year. Haack very uneven but has had some moments I remember wanting to run bojo out of town before he became "great from my armchair opinion. Hoping Haack has a similar ascension. One thing I can't tolerate is bad punting. They have pretty much 1 thing to do that is very repetitious -
I think even without the vaccine stuff and his public displeasure with green bay, he would be getting harshly judged for this loss. It's crazy how many times an apparent juggernaut in green Bay goes out with a whimper

I have had Ottawa tickets for like 10 years it seems

Just trying to imagine an AFCC game in buffalo is absurd

Divisional Round SATURDAY: Bengals at Titans, 4:30 on CBS
May Day 10 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kinda wish the Titans won. They look terrible -
I really didnt know what to think. Heading into and early on in that College season, Allen was my first choice and I thought he was a freak. He had a bit of a topsy turvy season at Wyoming though. It was clear he had outrageous physical tools and if they could be harnessed, the rewards would be immense. But people were saying it could be a long term project before he should even see the field. I had zero faith in the Bills in grooming somebody like this. I didnt think it was a bad idea at all, but I thought the Bills would be much better off with "SAFE" in Darnold or Rosen.

Post-Beatdown Belichick Locker Room Visit?

Now I see a video of Morse approaching Barmore and talking him up after the game.... I cant take all the good will and sportsmanship. Might as well just combine the teams and play in Albany -
Is Super Bowl victory or bust realistic?
May Day 10 replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I dont think that is ever a fair benchmark. For me, a good season is great. Losing that wild card game would have made this season a disappointment overall despite winning the division. Losing on the road in KC wouldnt be that horrible of an ending, it is basically a coin flip game. Overall, its been a fun ride. Was a fun ride last season too. I really think next season they need to strive for greatness. Measurables say this is an all-time great NFL team. With a little bit of luck, they should probably be between 14-3 to 16-1, rested, and hosting the next 2 rounds before the Superbowl. In that respect, this season is kind of a disappointing 'what if'. Next season though, I could see that as a mantra for the team. Might be their last kick at the can with a portion of this core and they will want to make history. -
They have been here before, and seem to perpetually be here. Adams and company did the easy part that anyone can do. The tear-down. It will probably take awhile... but it isn't splitting the atom either and fans don't need to tolerate being told we are perpetually in year 1 of a 5 year rebuilding plan. Maybe it'll work out with the current staff, but I do not have a lot of faith in Adams, his lack of experience, Karmanos' kid, and the doubling-down with an analytical and data mining approach. I feel pretty confident that if Adams were cut loose today, he wouldn't even get an interview to be a general manager elsewhere in the league. So circling back, if I am a person who is spending 100s of millions of dollars on a team, I would want to feel comfortable the rebuild is being guided with experienced and capable hands, and to make sure the whole operation is being run correctly from scouting/drafting/developing/etc. I have been a fan for 35 years-ish. I spent a huge portion of that never missing a period. As of now, I'm not sure I can name 10 players and their numbers. I have watched an aggregate 6 periods this season. It isn't out of any protest. I just have lost all desire to consume that product. There are many others like me as the arena crowds can verify. This is a problem. Maybe they are on the right path? I don't know and don't really care that much at this point. That's just my guess with the 'major changes'. On this plane, with the Pegulas making the decisions, Adams will get at least 2 more seasons after this and I'm fine because whatever. It doesn't matter what I think. People here were defending both Murray and Botterill right to the bitter end, just an instant before they pivoted into the next guy having 5 years worth of incompetence to clean up. People did the same for any 1 of the Bills' drought-era coaches and general managers, as well as Russ Brandon.
-
My guess, and based on a bit of other smoke around this over the past 6 months or so... The Pegulas are selling a significant portion of the team. The other party might be Canadian and Key Bank Center operation is part of the deal, which might mean $ for renovations. So if another party is potentially dumping hundreds of millions into this property, viewing the shambles everything is in including a few thousand emotionally dead people every home game, they are probably demanding some sort of say/major shift in the hockey ops. Its possible too that the Pegulas have gotten fatigued and frustrated with running this team and the criticism that comes with it and actually want to step away/back. I have zero reason to believe the Pegulas would set this team up for relocation (I would be shocked), nor do I think there is much of a realistic market for NHL team relocation at this time. The only market I would fear from Buffalo's standpoint would be Houston. I also don't believe the NHL would be eager to lose the Buffalo market.

Post-Beatdown Belichick Locker Room Visit?
May Day 10 replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Say what you will about Belichick, he has a great respect for the sport, history of the sport, and strategy involved. I would bet dollars to donuts he likes and respects McDermott and the feeling is mutual, although there is likely a healthy competitive rivalry in there. Belichick likely has no use for bravado clowns like Rex Ryan. McDermott seems to publicly say and do the right thing, does things the right way, and has his team very well prepared. The prospect of defending Allen for the foreseeable future has to be a nightmare for Belichick though. The rollout run vs pass quandary is like a cheat play in Madden football that cant be defended.- 135 replies

The window is wide open as long as they have Josh Allen. This particular team as is? Perhaps next season, and then they will have to re-tool some position groups. Need to draft well and keep replenishing with cheap and capable players who contribute. A major key is going to be in finding the heirs apparent to Hyde and Poyer.

What Would You Consider a Successful Season? - Poll
May Day 10 replied to Doc Brown's topic in The Stadium Wall
Overall, Id say that with a close loss to KC, I would consider this a 'successful' season... I'm sure the team wouldn't though. From a fan standpoint, they held serve. They lost a few games in the regular season they shouldn't have. It did seem like fortune wasn't on their side in some critical close games... but they still won the Division. The beat-down they gave New England was such a gratifying game. For us to finally get a full-throat home playoff game, and it ended up being a 3 hour bonfire where we were able to put the 20 year Patriots dominance over us to bed was amazing. All year we knew this season would come down to the game against KC. IMO, the winner of this game is going to win the Super Bowl. I dont think its fair for fans to give a Pass/Fail grade on this game. KC is a great team. Furthermore, they certainly have another really good kick at the can next season before they will be forced to make some roster adjustments and re-tool in certain position groups. They were almost certainly a 14-3 or even 15-2 team this season. There are some obvious holes and adjustments that can easily be made to augment this team. This team is pretty incredible. I believe their last 21 wins are all by 10 or more points, other than the Indianapolis playoff game. Other than that, their last 1-score win was the Cam Newton fumble game. Seattle 44-34 (+10) Chargers 27-17 (+10) 49ers 34-24 (+10) Steelers 26-14 (+11) Denver 48-19 (+29) New England 38-9 (+29) Miami 56-26 (+30) Indianapolis 27-24 (+3) Baltimore 17-3 (+14) Miami 35-0 (+35) Washington 43-21 (+22) Houston 40-0 (+40) Kansas City 38-20 (+18) Miami 26-11 (+15) Jets 45-17 (+28) New Orleans 31-6 (+25) Carolina 31-14 (+17) New England 33-21 (+12) Atlanta 29-15 (+14) Jets 27-10 (+17) New England 47-17 (+30) 21 wins, point differential 419. Average of 20 points. Im not sure what that means, other than maybe this is possibly an emerging historically good team. It has also already been a really fun ride. I dont think Im in the mood to stew all offseason in negativity and demanding changes, etc if they lose on the road to KC. Also, one thing this team need to accomplish is getting/finishing the clutch win.
