Bills Have Not Beaten Anybody
May Day 10 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, that. They finally entrusted a top executive with the keys to the car. He made tough decisions in the short term. He drafted and accumulated talent the smart way and built a very young team who already won a world series and has a very nice window. They were a playoff team last year and that was when the bandwagon got filled. If the Bills had a playoff season with exciting young players, the fan base would be extremely positive too and flocking to the ticket windows/secondary market the following season(s). Any blame of the Bills' failures on the fans is extremely unfair. -
Tension mounts as more change feared in Cleveland
May Day 10 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess, maybe what I meant was... instead of limited picks and reaching for immediate needs and depth needs for the first 2-3 rounds... you would have many picks where those can be addressed *and* you can draft a promising QB prospect without losing a chance at immediate needs. -
Rumor: Some in Bills org want to move on from Dareus
May Day 10 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These things keep "happening" here and get excused away. If you are committing that kind of guaranteed, inescapable money to a player... you better be very, very certain that the player has enough fire in his belly and will still commit to being the best he can be to build his own and the team's legacy. I would say, at least with what we know publicly, there was plenty of reason to question what Dareus' potential commitment level would be once he was paid the big guaranteed bucks. It isn't surprising. The Bills management messed up, as per usual. As far as "moving on" from him. Its impossible. They/we are stuck with that slab I know its a broken record, but this organization desperately needs someone from the outside to come in at the top level and fix the incompetence. -
That hit was a disaster.

This x1000 The quantity philosophy is the correct approach. While i agree whaley has an eye for defensive talent, he is not doing the right thing with trading up. Injuries are the way of the land, and high 1st rounders are very overrated. If you have a gm and a good scouting team, very serviceable nfl players are there for the taking... and you also have enough capital to take a shot at a player like wilson, prescott, etc. Its tempting to fixate on specific ncaa talent in rounds 1 and 2... but many of those guys lose value the minute they drive off the lot. I would be optimistic if i were a browns fan. -

Pros and cons of keeping Rex next season
May Day 10 replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have seen enough where I can support sticking with him for Year 3.... barring the bottom falling out and them finishing 1-6 or something -
A few HUGE things that are equal, if not more detrimental than the end of the half: That strange end zone INT by Tyrod The trip by Glenn The failure to score a TD in the final minute to win, with a golden opportunity. The Bills had their fate in their hands, and could not convert. They played a good game. Couldnt get it done.
-
Refs and all... the bills still did not convert. The play sequence at the end of the half hurt... but tyrods strange interception in the end zone was worse. They also had a golden opportunity to win the game in the last minute. Didnt convert

I for one, loved having Gruden call this game
May Day 10 replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was funny. You could tell he kind of wanted for it to pass and to stay positive. Then at one point he just started to come out with it... "you know, i really dont like this". I would like to see a direct side by side with collinsworth. He would be defending every decision -
Is Chad Kelly not Jim Kelly incarnate?
May Day 10 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Derek Carr was mature well past his age in his final NCAA year. From what I recall he was married, and had a son who overcame some earlier medical issues while Carr was mid-season. Chad Kelly is joining fights for St Joes in the Monseigneur Martin League And never, ever trust anyone named Chad -
smart teams only give out contracts for players with low risk as far as injury and character go, then importance to the team/age. The key is, trade down, and down some more and stack with depth and quantity. A guy like Dareus is an albatross. Gilmore has also proved that he should be shown the door. Players can often be replaced with youth along with brains/preparation/coaching. Get a good soldier/leader, give him that 2nd contract.
-
Well, every game is important because there is little to no margin for error. With each win, the margin for error is greater. Would be nice to go into the bye week on a MNF win and over .500 But.... IF they went 6-2 or 7-1, we would prefer one of those losses to be the Seattle game.
-
its the same management team, minus Wilson and Littman, and plus Pegulas. Probably a net loss, other than Pegula's monetary resources and desire to win. Still do not have people in place who know how to put a winning program together. In all sports, success comes from the top-down and having the right people, resources, and structure in place. The maddening thing, is the Bills have the hardest box checked for a small market team: resources. I'm good with letting everything ride until the end of 2017. If its the same story or a step back is taken... Let's try something that hasn't been attempted here since 2001. I really cant imagine 2 1/2 more seasons stuck in this mud/purgatory.
-
I'm just programmed to forget about it at this point.... and it probably IS too early. Time and time again, they do not take care of their own wins... and if the occasion ever comes that they can win to solidify a position, they never come through. They win tonight though and I think I would be "in" again... good time for a bye week
-
It just * seems like all the teams just ahead of the Bills, and maybe even Miami and San Diego right now are a notch above... especially with the injuries. They are coming from behind now too.
-
I have been numb to losses for maybe 7 seasons? Its a crummy place to be. Thats what happens when your team doesnt have an important late season game in more than a decade. Take solace that ralph wilson is not the owner. Pegula is much more motivated to win. He wont allow the status quo forever and not see results.
-
People also did that to Rich Kotite and Ray Handley I think I am cool with that, as long as there is an unspoken 'mandate' for next season that there NEEDS to be a step forward in the win column
-
Every so often, everyone should take a step back and remember that we all want the same thing, but only have different paths we believe are necessary to get there. The fact that an individual is posting here through all this is a sign that they should be given a medal for being a real fan.

They seem to blow through more hamstrings than a Thursday Night slow pitch team You would think there would be some serious knowledge on how to mitigate the risk of those, especially when we are dealing with 23-30 year old athletes. Playing in the cold certainly doesnt help, but it seems like the time of year isnt correlating to the injuries. Maybe they need to bring in some people with experience and ideas in the realm of preventing strains and sprains. I don't know much about it, nor who they have in place though.
-
I think eventually they will figure it out... But the NFL and/or NHL will adapt a model similar to soccer. Put ads on the screen during play. It'll be somewhat subtle/within reason, but effective. Also line the "walls" with ads, and maybe even a couple on the field (maybe digital). Then condense the game to have minimal commercial interruptions. Fit the game into a 2-hour-ish window. They can have a 12PM, 2PM, 4PM, 6PM, and 9PM games time slotted every Sunday. More eyes on more games, while attending to shorter attention spans and the adaptation of people avoiding commercials. Along with the Monday night game(s) and a Thursday night game.... Everyone can tune into 7 or 8 games per week, getting to see all the important action, as well as regional. It would probably make their television packages much more 'portable"
-
9 wins would be a decent season, unfortunately, it will likely not be playoff worthy... and would also likely have them at 6-7 and all but out of it for most of December, which would be frustrating

this was similar to Wide-Right for me. Soul Crushing.

Projecting the stretch run...
May Day 10 replied to Samwell Tarly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That Cleveland game, in the scenario of losing 7 of 8 as framed in that list.... could potentially be a wheels-fell off, beginning of quit on coaches and run-for-the bus situation.
