  1. smart teams only give out contracts for players with low risk as far as injury and character go, then importance to the team/age. The key is, trade down, and down some more and stack with depth and quantity. A guy like Dareus is an albatross. Gilmore has also proved that he should be shown the door. Players can often be replaced with youth along with brains/preparation/coaching. Get a good soldier/leader, give him that 2nd contract.
  2. Well, every game is important because there is little to no margin for error. With each win, the margin for error is greater. Would be nice to go into the bye week on a MNF win and over .500 But.... IF they went 6-2 or 7-1, we would prefer one of those losses to be the Seattle game.
  3. its the same management team, minus Wilson and Littman, and plus Pegulas. Probably a net loss, other than Pegula's monetary resources and desire to win. Still do not have people in place who know how to put a winning program together. In all sports, success comes from the top-down and having the right people, resources, and structure in place. The maddening thing, is the Bills have the hardest box checked for a small market team: resources. I'm good with letting everything ride until the end of 2017. If its the same story or a step back is taken... Let's try something that hasn't been attempted here since 2001. I really cant imagine 2 1/2 more seasons stuck in this mud/purgatory.
  4. I'm just programmed to forget about it at this point.... and it probably IS too early. Time and time again, they do not take care of their own wins... and if the occasion ever comes that they can win to solidify a position, they never come through. They win tonight though and I think I would be "in" again... good time for a bye week
  5. It just * seems like all the teams just ahead of the Bills, and maybe even Miami and San Diego right now are a notch above... especially with the injuries. They are coming from behind now too.
  6. I have been numb to losses for maybe 7 seasons? Its a crummy place to be. Thats what happens when your team doesnt have an important late season game in more than a decade. Take solace that ralph wilson is not the owner. Pegula is much more motivated to win. He wont allow the status quo forever and not see results.
  7. People also did that to Rich Kotite and Ray Handley I think I am cool with that, as long as there is an unspoken 'mandate' for next season that there NEEDS to be a step forward in the win column
  8. Every so often, everyone should take a step back and remember that we all want the same thing, but only have different paths we believe are necessary to get there. The fact that an individual is posting here through all this is a sign that they should be given a medal for being a real fan.
  9. They seem to blow through more hamstrings than a Thursday Night slow pitch team You would think there would be some serious knowledge on how to mitigate the risk of those, especially when we are dealing with 23-30 year old athletes. Playing in the cold certainly doesnt help, but it seems like the time of year isnt correlating to the injuries. Maybe they need to bring in some people with experience and ideas in the realm of preventing strains and sprains. I don't know much about it, nor who they have in place though.
  10. I think eventually they will figure it out... But the NFL and/or NHL will adapt a model similar to soccer. Put ads on the screen during play. It'll be somewhat subtle/within reason, but effective. Also line the "walls" with ads, and maybe even a couple on the field (maybe digital). Then condense the game to have minimal commercial interruptions. Fit the game into a 2-hour-ish window. They can have a 12PM, 2PM, 4PM, 6PM, and 9PM games time slotted every Sunday. More eyes on more games, while attending to shorter attention spans and the adaptation of people avoiding commercials. Along with the Monday night game(s) and a Thursday night game.... Everyone can tune into 7 or 8 games per week, getting to see all the important action, as well as regional. It would probably make their television packages much more 'portable"
  11. 9 wins would be a decent season, unfortunately, it will likely not be playoff worthy... and would also likely have them at 6-7 and all but out of it for most of December, which would be frustrating
  12. this was similar to Wide-Right for me. Soul Crushing.
  13. That Cleveland game, in the scenario of losing 7 of 8 as framed in that list.... could potentially be a wheels-fell off, beginning of quit on coaches and run-for-the bus situation.
  14. I agree. A lot of the luster/mystery of the NFL is gone due to the Patriots. People scoff at this, but the fact is there is a very shady pattern of cheating and unsavory methods there too. It does exist and to many it brings the results into question. If the Bills were in any other Division, seasons would be much more fun and interesting later into the year. The fact that they have little to no margin for error every season stinks. One slip up and no chance to catch the Patriots by the end of October. Then you have to look at the Wild Card, which is 2 spots between 12 teams.... as opposed to 1 in 4, which most teams have to contend with.... in a more evenly matched Division with a team who doesn't systematically cheat. This has been going on for an eternity too. The Bills "glory years" seemed to be so long, but in reality it lasted 8 years (88-95) That includes a non playoff season and 2 Wild Cards. This is already year 16. They only missed 1st place 2 times and finished in 2nd place... and one of those seasons was 11-5, and the other 9-7. It is bad sauce as a fan of a team in the AFC East and I find myself tuning out earlier and earlier every season. I have said as much in the past, but I am pretty 'bored' with the NFL's alignment regardless. They have had the same format for 15 years now which is an eternity for any sport. I am really sick of not only the Patriots, but I am sick of the Jets and Dolphins as well. I am sick of 8 4-team Divisions where it is not equitable for playoff qualification.
  15. if the Bills would have hired Andy Reid and allowed him to operate without all the baggage within this organization, that really could have been the Bills. The Bills chose the disfunction of No Stone Unturned/Whaley/Marrone/EJ/etc.... The Bills went from 6-10 to 6-10. The Chiefs went from 2-14 to 11-5
  16. I agree with this... except both the Miami and Jets games are coin flips and they should lose 1.
  17. The handling of the RB position has had no effect on this team. Rooting for Karlos, but he isnt NFL ready right now or earlier. Teams have been desperate for RBs and he barely gets a look. It would have been nice if he took his 2015, put in the work and came back even better mentally and physically. He could have been a force. If im down on the fo for anything that acute, it is having known injuries to their S and top WR... and kind of ignoring the depth there.
  18. I think they certainly do this. To a point, i think it is a good strategy. With Incognito, IMO that whole thing was inflated B.S. anyway. I dont think it is a good move to 'count on' those players and invest a lot in them in the way of valuable picks or committed bonus/cap dollars. Low risk/high reward type of dealies.
  19. Dont get mad... I know people will... but I'm looking at the schedules and teams and the Bills might finish last in the AFC East. It will come down to that last game of the season. Gotta love it
  20. Im not too excited. I dont hate the move, but not too hopeful harvin will change anything abd stay healthy
  21. the solution is simple, and it is something that has been missing here since, Donahoe at the very latest, and probably team Butler. They need someone from the outside to mold the football program into one that resembles a winning NFL program in year 2017. The whole group-think of Wilson's executives, a green owner and his wife, Whaley, and the Ryan twins is not going to do it. Nor will it work when the same "management" team fires the GM or Coach, outsources the blame with that individual, hires someone new, and continually make the same errors. I have been having this same "discussion" for about 10 years now. I thought for sure new ownership would bring in modern times and we can move on from Wilson's organizational model. He kept the same model to my horror. Things have not improved. I'm so tired. So cold. Still no meaningful December games. It wont happen though. Nothing will change this season, nor will it change next season aside from a complete humiliating collapse.... something this team miraculously never suffers in its purgatory. Eventually a 'middle manager' will be changed out and blamed, and we will hear calls that this is now "Year One", "Continuity", "past seasons don't matter" and the like.
  22. I think he still has great moments. I thought it got really bad at the tail end of arties time. It became the artie show and i really dont think he is all that funny or entertaining... especially in the state he was in. Then when artie left the show was bad, it was like they didnt know how to fill the content themselves.
  23. I celebrated the win vs a banged up 3rd string qb. Injuries are part of the nfl season. Everyone experiences them. Depth and coaching are supposed to mitigate that.
  24. Dallas is suddenly a juggernaut. They stunk last year. The stinky bills beat them up
