GDT: Bills vs. Dolphins First Half

Cowardly. Should be tossed from the game for that -
Great article about the Bills-Browns playoff game in 1989
May Day 10 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great game. The run started in 88 with the fast start. Great defense that season. 89 was shaky. Bickering bills... was transitioning to an offensive team. Both endings heart breaking. -
From the article I posted "The NFL’s current cross-ownership rules arguably creates efficiencies that should save it from antitrust scrutiny. Cross-ownership creates special problems in leagues like the NFL where much of the revenue is shared among team owners. Conflicts of interest could arise over negotiations for national broadcast rights if owners had teams in different leagues in multiple cities. In this setting, the ban is necessary to block owners from freeriding on the investments of their fellow owners, for example, by using a league’s confidential information and business methods to assist a league in another professional sport.."

its 2 teams in the same market. Thats fine. If the same sports exists in both markets, it cant happen. Its an NFL rule. The reason Jacobs cant buy the Bills is because he owns the Bruins, who are in the Patriots' market. It is anti-trust issue, and is to eliminate potential conflicts of interest http://www.theofficialreview.com/nfl-cross-ownership-rules/ " The League codified this approach in an amendment to its Constitution and Bylaws that allows cross-ownership in another major league sports team in two narrow circumstances: (1) if the two franchises are in the same city, or (2) if the other league’s franchise is in a neutral market"

I think the Indians can cobble together smoke and mirrors again to shut down and beat the Dodgers. Against the Cubs though... without Bauer and Salazar, it will be a short series. They need those 2 to be available for quality starts in the WS.

Bizarre music videos from the MTV era
May Day 10 replied to Fixxxer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
At 0:54. Always thought this one was cool What a time for music in that period. Lots of different innovation and eyes. Great acts and one hit wonders were born out of it. Really the last good musical era IMO. Its sad to think about. All the peripheral stuff on MTV was very well done too. Beavis and Butthead, Liquid Television, The Head, The Maxx, Singled Out, spanktastic Grind and Spring Break. -
Its an ongoing circle. The Sabres have been doing this for years now. Every newsworthy thing or major interview seems to be granted to outside publications. WGR started to play nice a couple years ago and the Sabres/Bills throw them plenty. As a result, TBN increases their saltiness, which further divides, rinse and repeat. Pegula does not like to fire people and get rid of them. He bragged when he bought the Sabres that he never had fired an employee or something like that. He said the key to winning was: people and the media just needed to be positive all the time. He was mocked a bit... and unfortunately for his stance, the Sabres' front office and coaching staff was stale and needed change about 2004. They had the 2-year lightning in the bottle run, but by 2011 the whole thing was a lame duck and was destined to hit the rocks. He was cheered like a hero, mainly because Sabres fans felt like there was no way the house wasnt (finally) going to be cleaned. It was cleaned, but it took a long time, and you can make the case that it is still happening. Now, although I am excited for this season right now, I believe the Bills were in a nearly identical place as the Sabres when Pegula took over. We'll see how this goes, and I would be in support of staying the course another year if they miss the playoffs with some grace. Ill be overjoyed if they have a successful season. I still maintain that they need a strong, central voice to mold and run the football program.

yeah, tickets.com is always tough with their virtual waiting room. There are a few tricks... and you need to be very adaptive as there seems to be different glitches for every sale. For this, I learned that once you started "hitting" to be let into the purchase page, you needed to go back to the indians' ticket page and click on the link again. Otherwise if you asked for tickets and it couldnt find them/was too busy you were just getting a dead screen. I had a nice pair for Game 7... but the window with the tickets did not have an option to "continue". It was just a dead screen, that was tantalizing because I really wanted Game 6 or 7.

Thats definitely a thing.... IF the Bills beat the Dolphins, that is precisely what they will be playing for.... at home, against New England. The prospect of being in the driver's seat for a Division lead, home playoff game, 1st round bye will be right there at the halfway point of the season... already securing a sweep/tie breaker over NE. That would be uncharted territory for a huge chunk of this fan base

Yeah. Was a mess but i made it through

I got a Game 1 WS ticket

yeah. Having a lot of garbage primetime games, trying to cater to past performance and big markets has blown up in their face.... Especially with some good 2015 teams taking a nose-dive or just not looking inspiring this year... Then you have the NFL basically force-feeding one game at a time on people depending on region... which most of the time is not the best game, while keeping the Sunday Ticket at a laughable price point and exclusive on Direct TV. Meanwhile, people are moving as a mass toward cutting the cord. Im sure folks are streaming whatever game they want to watch... instead of the same team(s) every week. The NFL needs to figure out the next step in this revolution and get ahead of the curve. The other 3 major sports are actually ahead of the NFL at this point with their streaming apps and availability.

I got excited during those starts and I do not regret it at all. Of course everyone is still guarded to some degree.... but as a fan of this team, you have to take the good times while you can. It is OK to get excited, look at playoff scenarios, root against other teams, soak in positive press. We dont get many opportunities to do that. They win this week, the New England game will be hyped nation-wide. Most common fans will root for Buffalo. Would be a shot heard around the world if they win. If they lose.... well, its been a fun month or so. I actually think that Seattle MNF game is very winnable for the Bills, as is the Cincinnati game now, as well as Pittsburgh. The schedule doesnt look as daunting and the team is getting healthier, not the other way.

Bon Jovi, Future Owner of the Titans?
May Day 10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont want to see any sports team ever move (unless its an MLB team to Buffalo). I experienced the very real possibility with the Sabres in the early '00s.... and for years, I had to try to come to terms with what seemed like an inevitability of the Bills relocating. It sucks. I don't wish that on anyone. -
Bon Jovi, Future Owner of the Titans?
May Day 10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, the thought was that he was the grease-man for MLSE.... who may be able to afford it, but they can't really compete with the mega-wealthy. As far as I know, MLSE and Tanenbaum have a few Billion, but it is in sports holdings and not cash-ready. Then, the stadium issue. You would think if the Titans were at a point where their lease was escape-able and there was a wink-wink desire of the owners to be willing to allow them to move... there would be a degree of competition which pretty much eliminates MLSE -
Wow. Read the write up http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2016/week-6-dvoa-ratings

The bottom-line is, the Bills are going to have to win some big-boy games in order to become a playoff team this year. Along with "cleaning up the trash", they are going to need to win at least 2 of the Pats, Seahawks, Bengals, Raiders, Steelers. The Bengals looking so-so is encouraging. If they lose all 5 of those games, this season is the same-old, same-old

no rumors, just fell that way. I don't think Palmer had a say as he was traded (for a 6th?) It just always (from like mid-season on) seemed like the Bills flew the flag that "this year we are taking a QB". For awhile, Geno had everyone salivating, especially early that year when WV was on fire. Then there was Barkley and Glennon who were considered with Landry on the Fringe. EJ was kind of an out-of nowhere guy, and a lot of the pundits didnt seem to have him anywhere near the 1st round. Turns out they are all terrible In hindsight, it would have been best to keep Fitzpatrick as a bridge-guy and try to keep trying to find QBs. The QB position in the aftermath was a minor-league stable of fail with Kolb, EJ, Jackson, Thad, and Tuel. We got kind of lucky with Taylor and they did the right thing IMO grabbing Cardale as a project. Taylor is doing a good job of avoiding hits... but IMO the mobile QB will eventually be taken out with injury. I would like for them to put a lot of resources into scouting a pocket/traditional QB. Try to find a 'bridge' QB (even if its Taylor with that contract)

I have said it before, but Carson Palmer was available that offseason for a price of peanuts and cracker jacks.

Let's wait and see. I am very excited about this team, and encouraged on a few fronts. However, while I do subscribe to a 'win is a win' mentality... there are qualifiers for each one of these wins so far. If this team gets to 5-2 next week, again we will be at a fever pitch and get to hear Dareus says "aint nobody likes the Patriots" again... it'll be exciting.... but will Brady and co. once again slap the Bills to the ground? If not.... look out. They'll be the sweethearts of the NFL... But if they do again get shut down by the Pats, start to struggle in the tough portion of the schedule, the Bills will largely still be considered in Neutral. Say they go 8-8, we are talking about a 4-6 or 3-6 finish. That will be disappointing. I have been a big "consultant" guy, still am. But even if this team gets to 8-8, I'm fine with keeping everything intact for another season.

They really need to win at least 10, having 3 NFL wins. 6-4 the rest of the way. I can find 6 wins, but it will require winning a few tough games, and also clean up against lesser teams

Jim Monos is One to Watch as a Future NFL GM
May Day 10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'll see where the perception of this team comes in. Win a few games, they are great. They may get to 5-2.... the hype will reach a fever pitch. Extensions to jauron and fitz. Im still waiting to see what happens when the bullets fly in the middle part of that schedule starting with new england. They win a few games in there and this team is different than the past
