  1. There are quite a few I would be happy with at 9. If a team identifies a player as one they covet, there is no wrong spot to take them. Trade downs are great, but the reality is there are several factors when considering a trade to get the same player you would take at (in this scenario) #9. Is there anyone who wants to trade up to our spot? Would we still be able to get one of our coveted players at the new draft spot if we trade down or are they expected to be gone before that pick? If we trade down, is there someone else likely to try and leap frog us and draft the player we covet? Now, there are a number of things working in our favor this year for a potential trade down Defensively top heavy, meaning our spot should be a good spot to nab a QB. Washington has a bad prognosis on Alex Smith, so we could be a perfect trade partner. Additionally, Redskis are at 15 and if we covet a WR, there are no teams between 10 and 14 expected to draft a WR, so we should have our pick of one at 15. Furthermore, this is a deep WR class with the top 7 WRs all closely bunched up, so not likely someone will trade UP for one into picks 10-14 to leap frog us. There isn't huge gaps between any of the grades of the top 7 WRs or so. So less incentive to move up for one. So I am actually mocking the Bills to trade down with the Redskins at 15 and I think the pick will be a WR, and my choice (before the combines) right now is N'Keal Harry.
  2. Well for starters, he still had 4 sacks and 2 Forced Fumbles in 12 games as a backup and rotational guy who also missed time and dealt with injuries. So he made some impact plays in limited appearances. So I think he is a guy who can be a good contributor next year if he can stay healthy.
  3. Great! Because I don’t want to inherit the division, I want to take it from them, THIS YEAR!
  4. You need camp arms, you always carry QBs in OTAs and Camp that won’t make the final roster. There is very little chance barring injuries that the Bills are taking 3 QBs into week 1. DA will likely be cut and brought back as a coach at that point given they already have a vet in MB behind Josh.
  5. I actually didn’t understand some of the Murphy hate. He had some injuries slow him down, but he wasn’t that bad when he was healthy and made some contributions. I am fine if he is on the roster this year personally.
  6. Just to further simplify this question: If you’re the Chiefs right now, then it’s DEFENSE. If you’re the Bills right now, then it’s OFFENSE. Its subjective to the individual team. You need to address both sides of the ball.
  7. Hasn’t his play dropped off and doesn’t he have injury issues? Im not against it, but he feels like a lot like our signing of Star last year. More name than recent production. But also haven’t followed him closely lately, so not sure how accurate my impression of him is at this moment.
  8. Yeah stopping the run is a bit of a concern, but it was better when we were healthy with guys like Milano. So while it may not be world beating next year, I think it can be good enough. Plus I have a feeling they may add some DL help in FA this year too. Hope they officially bring Jordan back too. Im also excited to see Horrible Harry get more time on the field this year too, I still like his potential. Shaq I think played his way not only on to the roster, but into a potential starting role next year too and he was pretty good against the run. So there is reason for optimism for next year, although nothing is for sure obviously. We certainly could still use a couple additions on D, so I do expect some defensive attention this offseason, however, its pretty safe to say the Offense is going to get a lot more help. I wonder if they will look to add a corner as some believe. Levi and Taron really showed well this year, I am not as certain as some they will still look to add another starting corner. Maybe another depth guy, but I am pretty excited about Levi, the numbers coming out on how he did have been quite surprising and impressive. And Taron was playing well too before he got hurt.
  9. Hell yeah it would!!! KC seems set up to be a favorite to reach the AFC Champ Game a lot over the next handful of years to say the least. Their best players are all relatively young. I really think Buffalo is on that doorstep in the same way the Rams were after Goffs rookie year (although no one knew it yet) and the Bears were after Trubisky rookie year (although no one knew for sure yet). In both those cases, they had some key defensive personnel in place and just finished a season with a rookie QB with little else on the offense around said rookie QB other than RB's. Both teams completely overhauled the offensive personnel in one off season, especially at WR where both teams entered the next season with 3 new WRs atop the depth chart. They also added some key changes on the OL too. Yes both got new HC's, but our issue isnt at HC, so we are fine there. If we can put some talent around Josh this year and shore up the OL, this team very well could be this next years surprise young team that makes a leap to double digit wins and a deep playoff run. Especially the way Josh has multiple times now made big strides in small windows of time. Him having a full offseason as the unquestioned starter, a year in the system now, more weapons and protection and I think he is poised for a breakout season next year. Except for the fact last year, all 4 teams were ranked #1, #2, #4, and #5 in scoring defense. One season doesn't make a trend, and the most prolific offense KC is at home because their D sucks.
  10. Ha all good, love the honesty haha. If he has a decent or better 40 time at the combine I think he very well ends up being first WR off the board. Metcalf though is another guy who can really rise with a strong combine too though. Just a great overall draft at WR, so I am exited. There is a legit 7 to 10 guys that all have first round potential going into the combine. Obviously not all going in the 1st, just saying there are 7 to 10 guys that can really make a case to go in the first if they shine at the combine. So even if we dont go WR in round 1, should be some sexy talent there still in Rd 2 too.
  11. They have said this every year for almost 2 decades. Greatest Show on Turf in St Louis was supposed to be the end to defense. Wasnt true. Never will be true. One season doesn't make a trend. Last year, all final 4 teams were in the top 5 scoring defenses in the NFL. They were ranked #1, #2, #4, and #5. Mahomes: 50 TDs, 5000 yards. Where is he watching the SB from? Same place the Bills are. Why? Because his defense let the team down. Saints and all that offensive fire power couldn't score in OT and then the D didn't stop the Rams in OT. High powered offenses are great, but there is a reason Peyton Manning was "One and Done" an NFL record 9 times in Indy...his defense sucked, while Brady is averaging a SB appearance every other year. Brees has missed the playoffs MORE than he has made the playoffs the last 5 years...why because most the years his defense sucked. Rivers, Ryan, Rodgers, Brees, etc all prolific...most often watching from home come playoff and Super Bowl time. The answer is you need some sort of balance. Brady threw for 500 yards in the SB last year and lost. Offense is great, but you better be able to get some stops too. That being said: Our defense is set nicely...so for us, its time to go mostly OFFENSE. Just like KC will be going mostly DEFENSE this offseason. Its all case specific. Most important position is the QB, once that is set you need to have a good offense, but you are asking for trouble if you ignore the defense.
  12. Because DK is a guy that could be the top WR on many teams draft boards with a big combine and clean bill of health. He’s the one guy that most feel is a top talent, and the only reason he isn’t graded their now is because he had the neck injury. I fully expect Metcalf to go first round and he could be first one off the board if he has the combine people are expecting. Of course if his combine isn’t as good as people expect then he very well could fall out of the first. This is a deep WR class, so we really won’t know how the WRs will start falling in place until the combine. Harry runs fast he will probably lock in top WR prospect for instance. There are several guys worthy of being first WR taken so combine will be very interesting to see how they start sorting out.
  13. McGlinchey was still a guy seen as a first and even top half of the first guy by many though. Hard to see is taking a late first or early 2nd type guy at 9. But certainly see him as a Beane type guy in a trade back. Here is an an exciting scenario: Trade down to 15 with Washington. Pick up their 2nd and another pick. Pick 15: Draft - N’Keal Harry (or other WR) Trade back up into the bottom third of the first using our 2nd and a 3rd to draft Risner and we would still have a 2nd pick from the trade down. Or if we have to, we could send both 2nds and still end up with 2 players from first 2 rounds and still have all our other picks and maybe one more extra one too from the trade down if we get a 2nd and another pick from Washington.
  14. Im no expert on him, but if hes considered a 2nd round guy, or late first, wouldnt 9 be a big reach? Or has he risen that far up boards?
  15. Yeah, he looks and feels fast enough to me, his only knock was that he supposedly doesnt have Elite speed, but he looks fast enough and when your catch radius is like that, wow. I love this kid. Really excited to his 40 time...unless he runs terrible, I would be all about taking him at 9. But, I think we can trade down to 15 with Washington and get him as no one from 10-14 should be drafting a WR. Someone could leap frog us though in a trade up had we traded down to 15. But I am alllllll about trading down to 15 and taking Harry (or Metcalf if he has a big combine too). But I also have no problem not messing around and taking this kid at 9. Yeah love this kid too. I keep saying this is a deep and good draft at WR. Some future studs will come out of this draft a WR.
  16. Honestly, didn't like the final question was necessary although I answered it.
  17. Me too...right now, Harry is my WR crush until I see what Metcalf does at the combine. I think Metcalf has a lot of the skills Harry has, but should be faster. Although he comes with some injury history. But, people are hung up on Harry not having elite speed, but neither does Fitz, Hopkins, etc. You dont have to have elite speed, and I think Harry is fast enough. Not like he is KB slow. I think some concerned here because of how bad KB was, but this dude is no where near that slow IMO, so looking forward to Harry 40 time.
  18. I think he was being looked at as a 2nd round pick, but with all the buzz around him, I think now he is potentially a first rounder. I could be wrong, I was only mildly familiar with him, so I am just going off what I am reading really. Im sure some other posters can shed more light on it though
  19. I am really liking what I am hearing about Risner. He is certainly rising fast it seems. My draft crush is N'Keal Harry. His highlight real is like WR Porn. I also really like Metcalf, expecting a big combine from him.
  20. Well the thread I believe you are referring to where I used the phrase "categorically" wrong is the one where we were discussing if Alabama could be an NFL team. And the contact in which I used it is 100% factual, not opinion. That was when people kept referring to players on the Alabama (and Clemson) rosters as "NFL Players" because of one day many will be in the NFL. And its factually wrong because they are using FUTURE versions of those players as if those players exist at that level today. None of the players on those college teams have gone through an NFL OTA, practice, training camp, or preseason. They are not the same player they WILL be when they step on the field Week 1 of their rookie season. So to refer to them as if they already have that experience is factually incorrect, not to mention, many of the college kids won't enter the NFL for another year or 2. So I stand by my statement, that its categorically incorrect to refer to those kids as "NFL players" because they will eventually get there. They won't be "NFL Players" in this hypothetical made up game, they will still be college kids, many of which still a year or two away from NFL, and in some cases 3 years away. So its a false statement to use their NFL PROJECTED selves in this make believe game that would occur "today". What are you talking about here? Jerry admitted to using the gloves over his career. Patriots were accused of deflated footballs for one half of a game, in which Brady played better in the second half with the proper inflation balls anyway. And sorry, I cant help you in regards to your "impression" of what I said. You went way way over the top on what I said with what you claim your "impression" was of a simple sentence I used in a previous post. And the point of my sentence was to show that players and coaches always trying to get an edge, including the great Jerry Rice. So if someone is going to be UNBIASED regarding Brady, then they should make the same statements about guys like Rice, Rodgers, etc who also admitted to acts outside the rules. You can disagree with it all you want. Just means you missed my point. Jerry admitted to cheating outside the legal NFL rules. All I said if you are going to start trying to claim Brady should be discredited and really isnt the GOAT over something like deflate gate, then you should be consistent and do it with all players. Jerry is the GOAT at WR in my book. And Brady is the GOAT at QB in my book. They are the GOAT in my book because they are better than everyone else. Another thing you seem to have gotten wrong about what I said. I said we dont know what Beane's ability to identify WR talent is because in his ONE draft he didn't prioritize the WR position yet. Meanwhile he found a gem in an UDFA. You wanted to argue he sucks at it, and I said there isnt enough body of work to determine that. He may suck at it, or he may not. You were also falsely using the Zay over JuJu in your argument about Beane not being good at it and I pointed out to you that Beane was a member of the Carolina Panthers when we drafted Zay. So you wanted to jump to conclusions about Beane based on activity that had nothing to do with him. Thats your choice, I on the other hand stick to the facts of what he really was involved in and holding my judgement on his ability to do something until there is more information to understand his ability to do so. Sorry bud, wasn't meant to be annoying, but you didn't write a lot of your stuff very clearly and made vague references to other things. But all said and done, seems I did a pretty good job figuring it out. And no...opinions are opinions. None are right or wrong, they are subjective thoughts seen through the eyes of an individual. One can agree or disagree with them, doesn't make one side right or wrong. What is always right is facts, like the fact Beane had nothing to do with Zay yet you incorrectly implicated him in that decision to form an opinion. So said opinion is now be formed off of false facts which makes said opinion unreliable and inaccurate.
  21. I don’t think you fully understood what I wrote. Teams have an overall board and they have a an actual team draft board and even round specific targets. Trust me, KC does not have any of the QBs on their first round board. Giants don’t have any RBs on their first round board. There is a difference of having an overall board so you can see how the draft may fall, who may go where, what may be there for trade opportunities down or up, etc. But then there is their actual draft board on who they would draft, players they scouted in depth, etc. Their actual draft board isn’t going to contain players they are not interested in drafting. When they say they are going to stay “true to their board and go BPA” that is what they are talking about. BPA on the overall board could be a QB in the first round at 9, Bills are NOT taking him because he’s not BPA to Beanes draft board. He will take his BPA which will be at a different position or look to trade down with someone who wants that QB.
  22. Honestly don't really follow what you are saying here. So I am going to take my best stab here at responding, but honestly this feels a bit incoherent and genuinely am not sure what you are trying to say. Isn't the point of a message board to enter into threads and conversations? So seems like a senseless point to start this paragraph off. Are you trying to say Jerry Rice didn't use Stick-em on his gloves? If so, try a google search because he did and openly admits to it. I don't even know what you are talking about in terms of Beane and our own WR position in this thread about the Pats. How you worked that into this, not really sure, and not really sure what your point on it is either. You are apparently accusing me of some kind of statement regarding Beane and WR's, but I need some kind of Cracker Jack decoder ring to figure it out off this sentence. Happy to address it, but no idea what you are talking about. Are you trying to imply I am somehow saying Jerry Rice was only great because of Stick-em? If you are, then you are wrong because I did NOT say that nor do I think that. Jerry Rice was the GOAT at WR. I brought up Jerry Rice and stick em to point out the hypocrisy of those discrediting Brady over something as minor and stupid as "deflate-gate" yet they dont do the same to Jerry Rice even though Jerry used an illegal substance on his gloves over his whole career. Everyone still believes Jerry to be the GOAT, and rightfully so, and so do I. Just like I believe Brady to be the GOAT. But if you are going to play the scorned Bills fan and discredit Brady, then you need to be unbiased and discredit Jerry who admits to cheating against NFL rules over his career. I personally dont discredit either of them, they are great because they are better than everyone at their position and out work everyone else. Lost me here...first thought that comes to mind is "Duh" of course opinions are face value. Your next line makes no sense and throws the whole 2 sentences off though and I have no idea what you are trying to say.
  23. Yeah I know, that’s really what I just said. It’s 100% subject to that teams board. And all boards look different.
  24. The only thing I’m confused on is how this thread is so long. It’s not complicated. BPA is subjective to a teams draft board. Teams draft board is subjective to team needs. Best RB in draft could be on board when Giants pick...but that RB isn’t even on the Giants draft board. When a GM says BPA, they are referencing their internal draft board. That’s it. Every single time a GM has said BPA this has been the case, and even Beane himself has said multiple times they will “stay true to their board” when he says he’s going BPA. The “needs” of the team are already factored into that board. Not drafting for need means means he won’t reach for a specific position just because that position has a bigger need. He will take the guy who is highest on their board regardless of position. But that doesn’t mean they will have players at every position on their board in that spot. Like I said, Giants aren’t putting RBs on their first round draft board just like Bills won’t be putting QB on their first round draft board either.
