  1. I'm sorry you're not co-parenting, so glad my ex didn't put up a fight over that. It would have gotten ugly and she would have lost. My neighbor was in a similar situation as yours. He made the same choices you did. It is your choice not to fight for your time. Now my neighbor's daughter is a mess, flunked out of school and doesn't talk to either parent. As much as he loves his daughter he never fought enough for their relationship and was so consumed with his ex it indirectly poisoned his relationship with his daughter. Fight for your relationship with your daughter and be the bad guy. But open your heart to her and explain why without getting negative about her mom. Never do that as you are really insulting your daughter at the same time. Get your daughter a cell phone if she hasn't one and work out an arrangement between her and yourself. Take the high road, but take your ex to court every time over your visitation rights. Send everyone a message, especially your daughter. What you see as being considerate towards your daughter's time with friends/activities, your daughter can see as you not wanting to spend time with her. And from the sound of things, mom will directly put that idea in her head. Be consistent and as others have said make plans in advance for just you and her. What truly matters here? Your daughter is not stupid. She can feel the hostilities between her parents. And it tears her up and breaks her heart. Let it go. Be the rock for your daughter. See your ex for the coward she truly is and don't hate her. Realize you chose her and made a bad choice. Be happy you're not stuck in that situation anymore and stop letting your ex matter so much to you. Instead of doing the decent thing and ending things directly with you she chose the cowardly way. Regardless of everything else, at her very core that is who she is. Now she is boomeranging her self hate on to you every chance she gets. You will never see any satisfaction for the way she treated and is treating you now. Your only satisfaction will be to let it go and stand tall even when you've got nothing to stand on. Stand tall. Focus on your relationship with your daughter.
  2. It's not wrong, EXCEPT in front of the kids. But, is that who you are, a hateful person? Do you feel good about letting her continue to control who you are? At some point it's emotional poison. Best point post-divorce was fully knowing I was far better off without her and letting all that stuff go. I take full accounting for my mistakes and stopped obsessing about hers. I do retain a healthy disrespect/despisal for her in certain things but get along very well with her.
  3. Obviously, this time I'm serious. Seriously. I'm serious this time. Seriously serious. Kneel.
  4. In all fairness DW decided to learn the ropes from Buddy Nix, who had never been a GM before rejoining the Bills. If he wants another shot at GM, I agree with ya. I do believe that handing the reins to McDermott was symptomatic of DW's shortcomings as a leader so hopefully DW finds his best path. I did like the guy and believe he can be successful as a GM.
  5. She's impressed me with her pragmatism and intelligence which of course means left wing elitists wouldn't dream of considering her for an influential role in the party.
  6. A bit long, but a really good article. I echo the thoughts that Beane is a highly focused, passionate individual and it gives me renewed confidence in our FO. Didn't want to wait around to inherit the job at Carolina. Best quote at the end: "I just felt something," Beane explained when asked why he took the job. "Seventeen years. These people are dying for a winner. I believe in myself ... I want nothing more than to watch this community go ape nuts that the Bills are back in the playoffs. And I have no doubt."
  7. There's only been one opportunity! Brady's a great quarterback, definitely GOAT consideration but so is Belicheck. His team doesn't fall apart with Brady out. Ha! Such a pity that Bellie has no problem with cheating. He's so good a coach but has ruined his reputation and deservedly so.
  8. Patriots are 11-6 when Brady hasn't been at QB. I agree with you that they don't have superior talent. What they do have is a system of coaching, player participation, and performance that is second to none. They don't fall apart when Brady's out. They were 3-1 and Brissett had a broken thumb when they lost to us. Can't say how good Garoppolo/Brissett truly are, but Cassel is a large part of that record and he's nothing special.
  9. Just wanted to take some Browns to the Super Bowl. No one likes to do that on a plane.
  10. Plus, he's starting to grow up a bit. Seems more laid back and willing to let his full personality show. And let's be honest, how likable was Kelly's personality at 29? Great to see.
  11. My biggest problem with UBI is that we're trying to pretend currency is money. If you give everyone a UBI, it devalues the dollar and goods and services will all increase in price. Also, for those earning their own income, it devalues that income. Over time the net sum may be zero, ie. UBI won't be worth much as everything will be correspondingly more expensive. I never hear how they will address this future problem so welcome any insights.
  12. For me, class is having morals and principles, but importantly, also being of the highest character (humble, honest, platinum rule). This of course means living and staying true to yourself under even the most adverse situations. But you must have both to truly have class. Marrone is an interesting example. He most definitely had principles and I admire him for sticking to them. Orton over EJ, team rules, discipline, etc. But St. Doug (if true) and the way he left the organization were classless. Someone posted a story about how the team went to a movie together, the players left a big mess, and Marrone stayed behind to help clean up. Sounds classy, but what if he was bitching about his players and how they're a bunch of pigs the entire time?
  13. Another interesting article: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/gregg-jarrett-comeys-revenge-is-a-gun-without-powder/ar-BBBdLbm?li=BBnb7Kz "Under the law, Comey is required to immediately inform the Department of Justice of any attempt to obstruct justice by any person, even the President of the United States. Failure to do so would result in criminal charges against Comey. (18 USC 4 and 28 USC 1361) He would also, upon sufficient proof, lose his license to practice law. So, if Comey believed Trump attempted to obstruct justice, did he comply with the law by reporting it to the DOJ? If not, it calls into question whether the events occurred as the Times reported it. " "But by writing a memo, Comey has put himself in a box. If he now accuses the President of obstruction, he places himself in legal jeopardy for failing to promptly and properly report it. If he says it was merely an uncomfortable conversation, he clears the president of wrongdoing and sullies his own image as a guy who attempted to smear the man who fired him. " "Either way, James Comey comes out a loser. No matter. The media will hail him a hero. After all, he gave them a good story that was better than the truth. "
  14. I know someone who is a trainer and a yoga instructor and she is a bit heavy. But she's toned and you can tell right away she knows her stuff and works out a lot. But I wouldn't want to train with a flab ball who hasn't spent any significant time using a gym. There's tricks and subtleties to doing lifts and ones that are too hard on the joints. So, weight is not a disqualifier, but I would talk to any potential trainer and find out their fitness background and go from there. As a counterpoint, the trainers who are really ripped and in top shape are often aholes who lord over you and preach incorrect info because it worked for them and they didn't get hurt doing it. To each his own.
  15. I like the stampede drum corps far better than the Jills. I'd like to see their role expanded, have them come up with something for third downs and get rid of that annoying train whistle.
  16. McDermott: We’re anxious to see how Tyrod develops in his third year as a starter in a new system, a system that he has some familiarity with in terms of [new Buffalo offensive coordinator] Rick Dennison’s system in Baltimore a few years back with Gary Kubiak. This is really encouraging for me. I felt Tyrod made progress last year with his decision making. Not as much as I hoped, but he improved. Tyrod is definitely a young starter in this league and I'm glad to see coach recognizes this and is willing to give him more time. The class, passion, and character TT displays demand it.
  17. No, I don't. I was extremely happy Hillary lost but was incredulous at Comey's essentially insubordinate behavior at the July press conference and recklessness just before the election. He should have kept the reopened investigation quiet until he confirmed there was sufficient new evidence to justify formally reopening it. Lynch's actions were shaky at best but that wasn't for Comey to step in on. If he felt strongly enough about it he should have resigned after the DOJ refused to charge HRC.
  18. Comey should have been fired by Obama, period. The Rosenstein memo is inarguable IMO, whether you are Democrat or Republican. Beyond the politics, Comey was using a public platform to convey his version of the truth and usurping power and procedures. Why would you go public with reopening the Clintion investigation 2 weeks before the election without first investigating whether there was any new merit to it? Pages 4 and 5: https://apps.washingtonpost.com/g/documents/politics/fbi-director-james-b-comeys-termination-letters-from-the-white-house-attorney-general/2430/ The fun part is watching everyone take sides on what should be a united, long under-resolved issue.
  19. Nice! It does take patience but the biggest thing is doing it your own way. Congrats! If the beer is really a problem the next step is to self negotiate and clearly define "a beer or more". I love dark chocolate and buy the ghirardelli 70% squares. Initially I would buy them randomly and eat them randomly, moved to buy them only when working out, but eat them randomly. Over about a year I self-negotiated it to where it's always on-hand and I get to eat 2 squares if I workout, none if I don't. Learned to savor that reward also, but every time I see them it's a reminder to work out and I don't touch till then.
  20. I'm 47 myself. Your diet, weight lifting and cardio all go hand-in-hand. Simply controlling portion size and rolling in some more veggies helped a lot for diet. I don't deny myself a burger or the like, if you can shrink your stomach and then avoid overeating that goes a really long way without having to give up favorite foods. Walking as much as you can in a day (for me it's walking stairs over elevators)pays off too. Weight lifting also really helps burn fat, especially first thing in the morning. My suggestion for cardio is identify a race or competitive event you'd like to do, bike race, run, tough mudder etc. Then train for it and see how everything goes. Races like the mudder are great because you can't skimp on cardio or weights. Welcome to getting old! I was heavier at 35 then 45 because it took me a while to realize I couldn't eat like I was 25 any more. But you can find overweight vegetarians, weight lifters, and runners. Find goals in all 3 areas, make sure it's activities you really want to try, so it's personal. Just doing something because you need to lose weight seldom works/lasts.
  21. Thanks for the thoughts, experiences, and perspectives JustWinPlease! Really valuable and encouraging as I don't follow the panthers closely.
  22. Haha! That's what I thought also.
  23. This. I am truly sorry to hear so many losing their jobs. We also seemed to do well drafting DB's. Thrown all away with little seeming intelligence to it. I can only hope Polian or someone who knows how to run a football organization is in the background but I doubt it. McDermott has been given way too much power for a rookie head coach. I hope he can handle it but this all seems incredibly amateurish management and I'm worried the future will be the same as the past until we get a plan and more consistent leadership from the owners.
  24. When Marrone/Brandon/Whaley had that public spat on the practice field a few years ago, then there was supposedly more animosity at a later dinner, Graham was tweeting about false items and referencing a source within the Bills organization. Later that day Brandon interviewed and went on record saying the same things Graham had tweeted. At that point I assumed Graham has Brandon as a source. I could easily be wrong but the events were not-so-coincidental in my mind. Looking at Graham's article on Brandon from the other day: http://buffalonews.com/2017/04/24/tim-grahams-power-take-thank-russ-brandon/ This is a garbage article, very unlike the quality TG usually writes. No real substance, just a "hey Russ isn't all bad" puff piece. My take is (assuming Russ is a source) that either Russ asked him to write something or TG decided to do it on his own to help RB out. Either way, it hints that the Pegula's are changing their philosophy and even Brandon may not be safe. Whaley has proven at this point he is not a leader. I don't hate the guy, he's done some good things for us, but he's just not a worthy public figurehead. If he stays, I would be fine if he were moved to director of scouting or some area that maximizes his strengths. Pegulas are pinning the leadership of the franchise on a rookie head coach. That's garbage, he needs to focus on leading his team, not the entire franchise. As good as he may be, he's in over his head right now. To Terry and Kim: We NEED someone in the FO to give this organization vision, direction, leadership, and patience. To get our kitchen in order and be the face of it in good times and bad. You're asking too much of our head coach. I think very little of Haslam's leadership of the Browns but I must give him credit that right now they have a very nice plan in place to build that franchise.
  25. I'll say this, Mahomes did his share of audibling out of plays, which I don't usually see in a system offense. I'm not a crusader but I do think that mentally he will be able to handle NFL decision making. Whether he can grow out of his happy feet is a different story.
