  1. +1 This. We lost the quarterback of our secondary. Why are we having communication problems back there? Hmmmmm We just lost the quarterback of our O-line. I hope the backup can pickup the slack, but the pragmatist in me sadly thinks our playoff chances are out the window. Hope I'm wrong.
  2. Tyrod had a very good game, decision making and pocket presence I felt were his best yet. If he wants to be "the guy" he's got to realize Groh was being abused in the middle on that last drive and not take the sacks. I won't say he should have won them the game because you still need your receivers to catch the ball, but he's got to not take the losses there. Hopefully his next step. When that drive started I hoped it would be his coronation but not quite yet. I thought A. Lynn called a great game and kept Seattle off balance most of the game. With Wood out, I can't judge the playcalling because Groh looked lost out there at times. Fun, hard-fought game even though the result sucks.
  3. I don't think so. Look how we treated Norwood after wide right. People here in Cleveland are very similar to Buffalo, there was no rioting or arrogance, everyone was extremely grateful after the Cavs finally lifted the championship curse off of this town. Republican convention came to town and everyone was happy to be hosting a national event, politics took a back seat. It's no surprise after all their suffering, Cubs fans were grateful to have the weight lifted from them. Bills fans will be the same when we finally win a superbowl, there's nothing to be arrogant about when things like this finally become real.
  4. Ok, that's fair enough. I am saying that dumpster fire is not the reason he's failing. If he were putting in the effort like Suh then I could put it on the scheme. But if he were giving a better effort, maybe that defense would be less of a dumpster fire.
  5. Absolutely. Boyst was asking if anyone's actually watched him play this year and I specifically tuned in for a bit to see for myself. I came away not being able to blame the scheme. I won't argue Mario is/was a tremendous talent, his heart just isn't in it.
  6. I did watch some of a Miami game a 2-3 weeks ago to see how Mario was doing. Sorry, I don't recall the opponent, I was wanting to see how Mario looked. He looked awful, like last year. Very little push, passion and drive. Maybe 1 out of every five he made some effort to push his blocker and get to the ball. But as his stats tell you, he wasn't successful. It was noticeable the difference in push when his backup came in and especially when they shuffled Suh into that LDE spot. Suh's putting in the effort, Mario no. I do fault Rex for not using his talent suitably last year but it goes well beyond that with Mario. He just doesn't want it out there anymore.
  7. I agree some players need a particular system to be successful, but Mario has failed from last season until now because he simply isn't putting the effort in on the field. Blame who or what you want, certainly Mario does, but I'm betting he never revives his career. Contrast that with Lesean. The guy was hampered by a hamstring part of last year but was putting the effort in and making moves on people. Certainly a more valid argument about Roman's system causing his problems though the O-line run blocking has improved noticeably to my eyes also. So it may not be LeSean excels in Lynn's system inasmuch as the entire run offense excels more.
  8. With Rex as our coach is there any doubt we'll send some joggers?
  9. I think it would have set a bad tone to the rest of the team if we didn't make him a respectable offer, he was considered a talented safety at the time.
  10. Gotta believe his teammates gave him a lot of sh*t for that weak effort when reviewing the game tapes.
  11. Right in my school district: http://www.cleveland19.com/story/33303068/police-investigating-social-media-threat-against-shaker-hts-high-other-area-schools As a bit of a troublemaker in my teens, I understand most of this is social media garbage and a bunch of immature kids messing with people. Modern day bomb threats. As a parent of a 10 and 13 year old, it's unnerving to think about what idiots (especially adult idiots) decide to take this to real life and traumatize young kids. Hey, let's dress up as a scary clown and traumatize kids in parks and neighborhoods! Real funny, hope I run across any that do try it in the real world. I'll probably make the news.
  12. I'm going to leave the training staff out of this and focus on our medical staff offering advice/evaluations about these players. Bad enough their advice on Lawson and others, for Watkins if he had surgery in May 6-8 weeks is expected recovery time. On the surface that means he should be fine come August. Sounds like the plan he was on. Thing is, almost every source on Jones fractures mentions that this is a difficult injury to heal, owing to the lack of blood supply in that area. http://www.iwalk-free.com/injury-resource-center/jones-fracture/ Caution is indicated. Sammy came back and seemed ok, but to me his limping was getting progressively worse into the season, he was sitting more, and I have to believe the injury was getting more painful for him. The advice told Rex is that Sammy wasn't going to make the injury worse and he needed to play through the pain. I understand they put a screw in his foot and that should keep things together but if his pain is getting worse? That just doesn't sound like good medical advice given the worsening of symptoms. Sounds like they just got a second opinion this week. I agree with the OP that the FO needs to reevaluate who's giving our medical advice and go in a new direction.
  13. I do see a difference if Gordon can't overcome his addiction(s). If Gordon is finally being honest with himself, I can definitely agree with this. He's worth a chance if it doesn't cost us much $. It'll be a lot of friction because of Dareus, etc. but people forget about Incognito. Plus the Pegulas will take an active role in making this decision and they seem very grounded to what matters in life.
  14. Whoa there. Upon reading the title of the thread, why would you waste your time typing insightful questions?
  15. He spent a lot of time shoulder slamming ball carriers to the ground instead of wrapping up but otherwise looked very good last night.
  16. LOL! He's DEFINITELY turned the corner then, because that would be genius!
  17. Because if his latest check-in truly comes from him then he may finally get his head on straight. And he still has all that talent.
  18. I think BADOL took your "hasn't done anything for 3 years" comment as giving up on Gordon given yesterday's news. So he was chiding you for it. Gordon and Pryor are two ultra-talented guys who for very different reasons found (find) themselves on the verge of being out of the NFL.
  19. Great toughness, vision, finesse including his bend on the ball. I most enjoy watching him maneuver in traffic and lay down superlative passes. Super excited about this kid as he grows up!
  20. I agree with you about the importance. As someone who values continuity and stability in our front office, it is good to see Rex grow up just a little and realize it streamlines the play calling and his focus. Maybe now we will be more efficient with our clock usage and management since Rex isn't trying to figure out our next defensive play call. It may even help reduce our penalties if players have a few more seconds to get lined up and mentally review their responsibilities for the upcoming play.
  21. No. As someone else said, we're not that great in short yardage situations. It's also 0-0 early and no one knows how the scoring will go. Take the points and avoid handing momentum back to Arizona. I understand the rationale of going for it but that would be the wrong call for an 0-2 team trying to find itself on both sides of the ball. Right call, great win!
  22. What's even sadder is their scouts (maybe the same ones?) favored Derek Carr over Manziel in 2014. Supposedly Farmer and Pettine did too. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000329386/article/cleveland-browns-like-derek-carr-over-johnny-manziel There was also an inadvertant image of Ray Farmer that had a whiteboard in the far background thought to be their draft board. Carr was at the top. Rumor was Haslam wanted Manziel but then again it could have all been a smokescreen. Good thing they got rid of those scouts who might actually be able to find a franchise quarterback and went with the analytics guys!
  23. A bit long, but an interesting article on Trump the man and businessman: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump%E2%80%99s-ties-to-an-informant-and-fbi-agent-reveal-his-mode-of-operation/ar-BBweClQ?li=BBnb7Kz
  24. Barley is right. Cardale needs to sit and learn, he's nowhere near ready right now and putting him under full game pressure would probably ruin him. They can give EJ some opportunities to show something before we let him go in 2017.
  25. Pretty much how I saw it. Where the hell was the safety help? I thought Darby played a good game and mostly had good position, there's nothing he could do about a number of those perfectly placed passes. Hats off to Fitz, he threw some great passes tonight. Unbelievable the FO played chicken with him this offseason. R&R R have to adjust their defense. NYJ have a lot of talent on both sides, #2 AFCE team IMO, Bills are going to have a tough time for a playoff spot this year. I'm open minded about giving the Ryans every benefit of the doubt. But, lack of player discipline on and off the field, game management issues continue to abound. Is this really a playoff-calibre coach? 12 men on defense? How many contending teams have so many numerous little issues? They need to get their sh*t together and make some changes. I also think Rex was stupid not giving his starters enough time on the field in preseason.
