  1. It's amazing to me almost no women consider their desire to one day have a family when formulating their career plans. I have no patience for the so-called "gender gap.". There are so many women in the work world who: 1. Won't go after a job that involves tasks they haven't done before. 2. Won't ask for more money on a job offer. 3. Don't understand that to be promoted they will test you first with additional job duties. 4. You need to be able to say no to tasks that distract from your job priorities. Things are certainly changing, and I do my part to help any female friends with their job situation but once most women are better risk takers and more aggressive with their careers I think the gender gap goes away.
  2. Sorry for your loss. This story always brings me comfort, probably because I'm a bird hunter! Hope it helps in some small way. http://aarf.org/Memorials/NoDogsInHeaven.htm
  3. Holy hell, it's Alabama he's going to. One of if not THE most recognized sports universities and Oats was given an opportunity to build their basketball program. That's a once in a lifetime opportunity and he should turn it down? There's some really self-centered people here. I get he could have handled his departure better but come on! Be proud he got picked by a premier institution. Hopefully UB becomes a premier destination for up and coming coaches and it keeps their program strong.
  4. She was one of the first democrats to meet with Trump after he won the election. She is pragmatic, seems to focus on common ground and willing to talk to the unpopular leaders to find it. She would be a fantastic first woman president and would easily have my vote over anyone else from either party right now. As others have said, I don't think the Dems will give her a shot.
  5. If you bothered to watch that highlight video you would see some pretty strong, on the money passes with touch to boot. No matter, we'll find out in the fall.
  6. ???? He's a rookie. Your assessment is garbage. Let's look at the other rookies. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=false&conference=null&statisticCategory=PASSING&season=2018&seasonType=REG&experience=0&tabSeq=0&qualified=true&Submit=Go Rk Player Team Pos Comp Att Pct Att/G Yds Avg Yds/G TD Int 1st 1st% Lng 20+ 40+ Sck Rate 1 Baker Mayfield CLE QB 310 486 63.8 34.7 3,725 7.7 266.1 27 14 171 35.2 71 52 9 25 93.7 2 Sam Darnold NYJ QB 239 414 57.7 31.8 2,865 6.9 220.4 17 15 130 31.4 76T 40 4 30 77.6 3 Josh Rosen ARI QB 217 393 55.2 28.1 2,278 5.8 162.7 11 14 112 28.5 75T 23 4 45 66.7 4 Josh Allen BUF QB 169 320 52.8 26.7 2,074 6.5 172.8 10 12 89 27.8 75T 30 5 28 67.9 5 Lamar Jackson BAL QB 99 170 58.2 10.6 1,201 7.1 75.1 6 3 60 35.3 74 13 2 16 84.5 He only really played QB in 7 games, even though Baltimore threw him in there every game for a handful of snaps.. So these Att/G is skewed because he averaged about 23 Att/G when starting. I would also estimate he averaged around 160 yds per game in those 7 games, not the 75 over 16. How's he compare to Josh Allen? Would Baltimore seriously let Flacco walk for a garbage replacement? Highlights: Lot of runs but look at the passes also. The guy sees the field so well on runs and passes. Excited to see what he does next year!
  7. Ironic that Baltimore took him! Lamar was my dark horse QB. Despite all his running and lack of touch on the ball, he seemed to read the field and make good decisions in college. His touch improved last year. Interested to see how good he will be.
  8. Don't know much about this guy but in those clips he really gets after it once the ball is snapped. Nasty! I like him, good pickup.
  9. Living in Cleveland, I get to see big Ben play at least twice a year and I feel he should have retired this past season. He's lost consistency and zip on his ball, IMO he's fallen to the line of marginal starter/good backup. The Steelers winning culture is critically ill and I wonder if getting rid of Ben is the cure.
  10. I think this was more of a statement move by Beane, to show Buffalo will be a player in the market. AB isn't a realistic fit here.
  11. http://blog.cleveland.com/pdextra/2012/09/how_cleveland_lost_the_browns.html Modell was ignored for years by the city, even when the Gateway complex (Cavs/Indians) was being planned he was being ignored. None of the city leadership thought he'd actually consider moving the team. The best was when Mayor Mike White acted all surprised and outraged after ignoring Modell for so long. But Art was a lousy businessman too and Baltimore's deal bailed him out of financial problems in Cleveland. On one level I don't blame Modell for moving the team because, at the time, City government was the quintessential definition of red tape but it was very much a d#ck thing he did.
  12. As long as Dorsey is in charge, those days are over. But there's always a risk of Haslam going all Ralph Wilson and deciding to fire him.
  13. Him just being able to pull off those opening statements should merit him a tryout. He packed a lot of words into an escalator ride! I hope he gets to broadcast, I agree he would be good.
  14. Kareem Hunt had a nice side to him.
  15. How has football enabled his behavior? The behavior would be there with or without football. The Browns and NFL have laid out a detailed plan he needs to execute to be considered for reinstatement. It's certainly up to him, but he has a structure to operate within. Hunt had a rough early childhood before moving to Willoughby to finish middle and high school.
  16. He clearly made a mistake, a party went sideways, I'm sure he regretted what he did but it all went away at first and so at 23 he unwisely decided it would all stay away and he lied to KC about it. It happens to non NFL people too. Even if he hadn't made those mistakes he was serving alcohol to a minor. The video surfacing and forcing him to be fully accountable was a blessing in disguise for him. His future actions will tell.
  17. Of course not, but why should he not use it if available? For better or worse the NFL does understand the disadvantaged backgrounds and does try and help guys like him. Just like Josh Gordon.
  18. I do know a bad apple when I see one and Kareem is not a bad apple. He's demonstrated kindness, respect, self deprecating humor, appreciation, giving and humility. And he's a very hard worker. He definitely has got serious issues and I believe he'll get them fixed because he is a caring person. And I'm definitely rooting for him.
  19. Of course what he did is reprehensible, but at this point he definitely deserves the chance to change himself. WRT your other point, years ago a friend of my wife started dating a US Marshal who had moved to CLE to get away from his ex wife and essentially abandoned his kids. To boot, the friend still hadn't finished her divorce. I was totally not cool with the situation and he agreed to meet me at a bar and talk about it. At the end of that I was cool, he was in a terrible situation and did what he felt was best. The funny thing was he specializes in interrogation and was stressed out and sweating bullets ahead of our meeting. They're still married over 10 years now. So if a female relative wanted to date Kareem, I first would be respectful of her though very concerned but could be ok with it if Kareem was willing to go one on one, look me in the eye and address all my concerns.
  20. Ok,I get that, but one of his fights was in KC, also Hunt is genuinely grateful for his experiences in Willoughby and how they put him on a much better life path. So it's harder for me to agree with your comparison. Chad Kelly goes home to a HS game and gets in an altercation, Hunt happily goes back to show his appreciation to fans and everyone he knows.
  21. What you really need to do is remove your head from your rectum and allow your small mindedness to expand. I have far more confidence Kareem will achieve that over you.
  22. I get you and respect your opinions, all great points that may derail Hunt. But it's hard to say for sure. I don't know Chad Kelly, but my impression is that he's a self-centered, entitled punk and that is completely opposite to how Kareem Hunt carries himself and behaves while he is around Willoughby. I feel your equating Hunt to Kelly is completely unfair, and at the crux of my responses to you.
  23. It is blind judgement on your part, and I find it pathetic. I'm not absolving him in any way, simply trying to lend perspective beyond press reports. I've seen him do good things, show people kindness and respect, including myself. Anyone who watches the entire video with any kind of rationality realizes Hunt had ample opportunity to seriously harm her and did not. What he did was borne out of frustration and disrespect. Absolutely wrong, but not in the realm of your social-media-style panic wh*re condemnations.
  24. I don't know Kareem but my understanding is he has no relationship with his father, and dad was a big reason they left Elyria. Kareem may have problems being a violent drunk but he is not an ahole. South hasn't had a good team in several years, so when Hunt showed up I spent plenty of time observing him. Quiet, but very open body language and quick to smile for the kids and anyone he talked with. Intense competitor but also more laid back than anything. Also stayed the entire game when he probably should have left at halftime. He's not some angry attitude guy, in fact just the opposite. Whoever the tweeter is who claims Hunt had violence problems here at South HS, well I'll look into it but I've never heard anything of the sort here. Most talk of him being, quiet, humble and respectful. Obviously he's got some serious problems to resolve but the amount of blind judgement here is just astounding.
