Cameron Wake, a Penn State Grad, was 2 time sack champ in the CFL (in his first two season) then we signed by the Dolphins (also had interest from the Bills). His first year in the NFL he played in 14 games with 1 start and had 5.5 sacks and 23 tackles. This is after leading the CFL in sacks with 39 over two years and being voted the leagues defensive MVP in both years. Im not sure how Wake was passed over in the NFL draft (he was a very good college player) but he was the best defensive player in the CFL his first season. That makes me think the top NCAA teams have more talent than some CFL teams. But at the same time I dont think the Bills would win a Grey Cup

Chargers shopping Vincent Jackson -AJ playing hardball
High Mark replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ill take McNiel, but you can keep Jackson. Good football teams need top notch lineman. WRs come after the fact. We cant afford to get both of them. So I would only want McNiel Notice though how both are holding out, but SD is only shopping Jackson. My bet is a quality organization like SD - whos team makes teh playoffs every year - knows this and runs their organization accordingly. -
Giants' disgruntled LT might be worth keeping an eye on.

While you make a good point, I do think in Bells case it is a moot point (agree with troup and the others though). Bell started most of last season. He was pretty terrible most of last season too. I think its pretty clear he isnt ready to start or compete. The fact is he has to develop, but most fast are assuming that he will. He has a much higher chance of washing out of the NFL than he does developing into a capable starter. Lasy year was pretty bad for Bell, he showed that he wasnt ready. Meanwhile we havent seen Troup yet, and S. Johnson has shown flashes when gotten the chance. The guys that show promise/havent had any opportunity need to play. The guys like Bell who have dissapointed dont need more chances on gameday, they need more practice. I wouldnt be suprised in Meredith is the day 1 starter. -

The Giants have a great OL. Being second best doesnt make him bad on a team like that. The Giants at one point had Kurt Warner and Eli Manning. They cut Warner to go with the younger Eli. I sure wouldnt have minded having Warner these past few years. Could be a similiar scenario. -
Not sure about that, but sober drivers can also be stoned drivers. The threshold for pot is very small. something like 4 ml/litre or something strange (the .08 for weed). A guy who is a regular can apparently be pot free for almost 2 weeks, and if tested, still test positive for a THC level that would get him a DUI. Someone who never smokes, their system clears in two or three days I think.

Name me one starting NFL qb who Trent Edwards...
High Mark replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While he may not be a starter anymore, Trents arm is 100000000x better than J. Russel because he is accurate, which is muc much more important than arm strength. I think with better coaching we will see a much improved Trent. Not saying he will be that good, but he will be better. -
As this thread has discussed, I think this team still has too many holes to fill to compete this season. Multiple OL/DL/LB starters and depth are still needed.

Screw Depth! Who is going to play for Hangartner!

Tom Modrak Must Go !!!!!!!!!!&
High Mark replied to tonyjustbcuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do hate the way the Bills drafts have gone. But when you look at the Bills drafts, they draft extremely well in the later rounds/sign great undrafted. Just think about K.Williams, McGee, Greer, J. Peters, Butler, J. Leonard, etc. So we all knwo Modrak is head of scouting, but we dont know who has had the final say when it comes to turning a pick in. If I were to guess, the owner of an NFL team could name the top 15-30 players in any given draft, but probably wouldnt have known the names of the guys I mentioned above, especially a 90 yr old owner... My point is - Maybe the reason our 1st and (some) 2nd round picks have sucked is because Modrak/the scouts havent made those picks. there were reports of Modrak wanting Cutler and Cushing, there is a possibility he wasnt allowed to decide who the Bills picks were in the first rounds. But whoever is in charge of the bills late round drafting gets a big in my book. (although there were blunders, ie Duke Preston over Jason Brown in 2005, there are plenty of studs taken by the Bills under Modraks tenure in the late rounds) Another point, Nix canned John Guy his first day on the job. If Modrak were as "in charge" of the draft as most assume he is, I bet he would have been canned too. My bet is Ralph has had his hand on the first round ever since Polian left and Nix knows this. I think that Raplh is the reason we have sucked so bad at drafting in the first round. (PS I believe he was behind the Spiller pick as well) Then, he leaves to take a nap and Modrak is left to find the Diamonds in the rough in rounds 2 or 3 on - ie the Byrds/Willaims/Peters -

I was younger then, but I remember seeing McKinnie on letterman/good morning america/etc. I also remember going "who???" when the Bills drafted Williams. Then I asked my Dad "Dad, they said Williams was a tackle, I thought Bryant McKinnie was the best Tackle???" Dad - "He is son, he is " -

My bet is that he works for the Pats as a Spy and purposefully sabotages the Bills drafts. I can only hope he has done it on purpose, because if its been a mistake, thats really embarrassing. -

Another Cut Player the Bills Should Go After Topic
High Mark replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McCray is not just some guy whose name you have heard before. He is a demon pass rusher who plays pretty nasty. He beat up on Kurt Warner and Brett Favre in the playoffs. Scheme aside I would think we could find a role for a guy with this skillset - why rule out OLB if he is primarily a pass rusher? I did some research and found an article that said his coaches didnt always favor him because he would often blow assignments and freelance. FWIW -
Who will score the Bills' first touchdown?

Moorman fake FG pass to Denney. -
So would Sage Steele and Suzy Kolber IMO Revis is just the flavor of the day over there at ESPN.

NY is giving the Bills $3Million
High Mark replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here is what I am thinking. From what I read a few years back, Ralph made about $34 mil profit after one season (something like that). If you figure he gets taxed on 30% of that - a very very conservative figure - thats $11.3 mil. in taxes. Now the government needs to pay for the stadium repairs and maintenance. Cut taxes, and he can pay for his own damn repairs! Then, maybe the US could expect people to pay their own dang mortgages (8k tax credit)! Or even for their own food (food stamps)! -
2 points A - Maybe I am the only one who hasn't drank the ESPN Kool Aid, but I dont think Revis is that good. Those who regularly read my posts should be able to attest that I am not some huge Bills homer, but I think T. McGee is a better CB than Revis. B - From another thread on the board - $3 million spent to keep the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo, a deal made with the NFL team over a decade ago. - http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=114882 WTF - The failing and bankrupt NYS government - which taxes its citizens and businesses to the point that they up and leave town - is subsidizing a multi billion dollar a year league that is now handing out 10+ million a year to its players. Here is a novel idea... give me my money back and Ill spend it on the Bills if I see fit! Then maybe, the NFL could fund their own stadiums!?! The only make a couple Billion a year..... I think we need another bailout...

Offensive Line Rankings
High Mark replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Raiders had very good run blocking and Green was a quality contributer from what I saw. Obviously I don't watch many Raiders games, but I was pleased with the Green signing. I was not pleased with the fact that thats where our OL improvement stopped. -
Theyve had those things all over for years? Why is it such a big thing now?

Offensive Line Rankings
High Mark replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We are rated too high. PS - How are the Raiders last? They have a very strong running game and are/were head a shoulders better than the Bills line last season. Not great, but could easily be ranked 5+ slots higher on run blocking alone IMO. -
