If we beat the Titans, do we win the Superbowl in 2000?
High Mark replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Rob Johnson would have imploded somewhere along the way. With Flutie given the nod...maybe. PS: this just reminded me how much meddling Ralph does. He forced Wade to start Johnson after Flutie won all the games and got them to the playoffs. -
Who will be the "promising" cuts?
High Mark replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybin Kelsay Ellison -
This has been brought up because governments (state, local, whoever) subsidize and maintain stadiums. Meanwhile owners take home millions per year. Thats where that idea comes from, and IMO, the state shouldnt give them jack sh*t. The NFL makes BILLIONS. I think they should maintain their own facilities.

PRESEASON STARTS IN (COUNTDOWN INCLUDED)
High Mark replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buf at Wash? Bills first Ofensive play: TE drops back to pass, the bum starting at LT gets burnt by Orakpo, who sacks Edwards. Edwards leaves the game with injury, failing to return to the game. Washingtons First offensive play: McNabb drops back to pass, gets perfect protection from his top rookie T and traded for former PB T, throws a touchdown pass on a great play designed by 2 time SB winning coach Shanahan. Meanwhile, Maybin tweets about if from the bench..... O what could have been... -
I dont really get it. the criteria seem too restrictive. Who cares about a 4th year player with <5 NFL starts? How is he going to be a breakout player? Mike Wallace has already broke out IMO. He was great for the Steelers last year and prob a big reason as to why they ditched Holmes so quickly. I dont have insider so maybe I am missing something....

Bills interested in Unga? Color me doubtful
High Mark replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The kid was a tail back in college in a spread offense. Just because he is 240 doesnt mean he is a FB. Skill set is extremely different. -
All people once deceased tend to be glorified, however great or terrible their lives. Ralph has done a lot of great things for football and the Bills (not much as of late in terms of building a winner though). He will be remembered as one of footballs most important figures. I cant say I argue with that - I just wish he was having more succes in his last years.

Roethlisberger - A Complete & Utter Moron!
High Mark replied to Glory Bound's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So Bens friend needs to urinate, and instead of pissing his pants he pees on the ground. I have no problem with that. Its natural after all. -
Not sure if its sarcasm or not, but he is more of a runner than a passer...Great college player, but not likely an NFL starting QB. Id love to see him improve though, he is fun to watch and the Bills need a QB.

You are so close to my ignore list BillsRUS

The Texas A&M QB? He was always more of a runner. Suprising to hear if its true.

Why the Bills drafted CJ Spiller
High Mark replied to iLikeChix's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My quote was aimed at Lineman. Guys like Ngata on D or Clady or Oher on O. Spiller may be "dynamic" but I dont want "a chance to score every time he touches the ball" - with 15 other touches that average <2yards per touch. The Bills need consistency. They need guys who have the positional opportunity to dominate their job every down. Hell, Spiller wont even be on the field for 75% of the offensive snaps. I just hate the idea that the Bills will get some home run threat and that will somehow mask the fact that the Bills suck everywhere else. The Bills have tried this before and failed every time. Evans, McKelvin, Parrish.... they are good players who have a couple special plays a year, but they lack ability and opportunity to make a more positive contribution. Evans has no QB to throw him the ball and Parrish/Mckelvin can only field so many punts in a game. Instead of some hail mary attempt to score points, why not build a team that can consistently score points? Why not assemble a quality OL instead of continuing to add "weapons" like a 12 year runs his madden franchise. You wouldn't call three hail mary bombs to Evans in a row as an offensive drive, so why build a team with the same philosophy? Its easy to see why this team hasn't made the playoffs this millennium. -
Why the Bills drafted CJ Spiller
High Mark replied to iLikeChix's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could not disagree more. The Bills dont need more "2 or 3 games a year Ill break a long touchdown and make an ESPN highlight" players (Evans/Parrish/McKelvin/now maybe Spiller) The Bills need "I BRING IT EVERY FUKIN DOWN" players. Big nasty behemoths who overpower and dominate their individual match ups on the O or D line. These are the players who contributes are not on ESPN and 80% of fans wouldn't even notice this players importance to the teams success. Players who bring it every play. The Bills need a RB who wont try and bounce it outside on a 3rd and 3, put his head down and get the first. The last thing the Bills need is some "hail mary prayer" type player who they hope can score long touchdowns - while they ignore the fact they cannot establish an offensive drive. That type of thinking has gotten us into the situation we are currently in, and is moving us in the wrong direction. Seriously, building a team around guys like Spiller/Evans/Parrish/McKelvin is essential like building an offensive game plan that is "3 hail mary bombs, hopefully we will score an 80 yard TD, but we will punt if we dont" -

Wrong. They drafted him because RW said to. -
Anyone want to know what a idiot thinks?
High Mark replied to bills_red's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I noticed that as well. But other than that, there is not much to argue. He is basically spot on in 90% of his review. I do believe he is a little hard on the Bills (I think 4 wins is more realistic than 2). The only paragraph I do disagree with is this one regarding out OL Unfortunately, it doesn't get any better elsewhere. Right tackle Cornell Green is a Raiders reject who was whistled for 12 penalties in 2009. Guards Andy Levitre and Eric Wood struggled tremendously as rookies last year; Wood is even coming off a compound leg break. Center Geoff Hangartner was probably Buffalo's best offensive lineman last season, which is sad because he was pathetic as well. Green wasnt really a cast off, he just wasnt retained, and I believe he was a solid addition. Wood and Levitre where the high points of our OL last year and I wouldnt say they "struggled tremendously" at all. But worst of all he says Hangman was our best lineman. That couldnt be farther from the truth. Hangman was stated the worst center in the league last season and I can believe it with how horrible he played. IMO he played a lot worse that Bell/Merideth/any of out LTs did. LT get all the attention but we need a new C just as badly (or a G cause Wood could play center) -
Jets may not have a happy camper in their midst, Revis
High Mark replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thast true but Revis also knew that before he signed his rookie contract. He shouldnt have accepted that contract if he wanted to have a new one now. He accepted a long rookie contract with a lot of guarenteed $ which gave him more security incase he busted out of the league. Now that he is a PBer he wants a new deal which will pay him more money now that he has proved himself. He cant have his cake and eat it too. PS: McGee>Revis JMO -
Assuming this is true, then I think it comes full circle and we have to look back at our drafting at the top of the draft. We have very few game changers, maybe two in Evans and Byrd. Last season Byrd was the only player on the entire roster to actually win us a game. Other teams that make the playoffs have 5+ players that can change the othercome of the game. When we pass on sure fire studs like Ngata/Orakpo/Mangold/etc for very average to horrible talent (Whitner/Maybin/McCargo) we get left with a team that doesnt have the talent to win close games. We cant stop the run when we are down in the 4th (Ngata). We cant rush the passer and get that drive ending sack when we are up and its 3rd down (Orakpo). We cant run the ball and seal the victory when we are up (Mangold). Drafting so terribly in the 1st round these past 10 years plays a large role in why we cant win any close games.

What if Chan works his magic...
High Mark replied to SpecialK15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea. He basically hasn't been any good since he left the Steelers in 96 or whatever. Fired by/after poor performances with the Cowboys/Dolphins/GT/Chiefs. Sure he made Thigpen look pretty good, but tahts one player. On the whole he hasnt shown much to be happy with. "Works his magic"??? - judging from his past performances that means 8-8 or 9-7 with no playoff appearances. -
Thats a good rule in theory. The problems seem to be relating the scores to football. A) Dont confuse a high wonderlic score for the ability to read the defense, or vica versa B) Dont let the poor (or great) talent of a players college team distort the win stat C) Dont confuse completion % with accuracy. That seems to be the biggest makes to me. Lots of completed TD passes in college are interceptions in the pros. Balls have to routinely be on the money in a very very small window. Also the player has to be able to read the D on his own - not look over to the sideline for signals. And dont overlook the talent level of a player, and confuse that with the talent around him.

Maybe the fine is in Pesos

You have to look at it from both sides though. Sure we COULD have won a lot of those games. But we also COULD have lost a lot of the games we won. KC - Chris Chambers dropped TD pass with under 2 mins to go Mia - Losing their PB caliber NT to injury and us actually being able to run on them Jets- haveing 6 interceptions and winning in OT on a FG Some are saying "We arent far off from the playoffs" One could just as easily say "We arent that far off from drafting 1st overall" Im not saying we coulda shoulda won this game lost that game, I just wanted to point out there are two sides to the picture. Im mean, IMO the Blls coulda went 16-0, I mean, they were tied at one point in every single game!!!
