Top 5 QB and Top 5 WR salary cannot coexist on a SB team

Look at their cap for next year. Hurts contract really kicks in for 25. Plus, they stink. At least all their defense is on rookie deals. They really blew it vs the Chiefs. They won’t be back. Correct but that doesn’t change the fact - look what teams are doing now or planning to do for 25 bc of positional value and percentage of cap hits. -

Eagles have maybe the most stacked team in the league with Hurts' contract and not one but two WRs making huge money. -
Is TBD doing enough to discuss whether the Bills did enough at WR?
Don Otreply replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall
We need a separate thread for each receiver, QB, the OC, and HC, I think we are all “very” concerned, worried and even chronically depressed about this topic, me, I’m developing a drinking problem about this, 😁👍🍸🚬 It’s at the bar I go to…, -
This is a legitimately interesting argument, and I am not dismissing it. It could work. I think most folks who are apprehensive about the WR room are open to a conceptual change on offense. You can do that and still have a significantly better WR room than we currently have. As you and I just stated in one of these hydra-like threads, it would be excellent if acquiring Aiyuk post 6/1 is part of the plan. Then those of us who tend to be happy warriors could migrate back to our normal tribal temperaments.

Closest I’ve found is Stafford and Kupp. But the Rams swapped out Goff for Stafford and had plenty in place. I think the simple answer for those wondering what’s going on in the hunt for WRs like Higgins and Ayiuk are pipe dreams. You cannot build a SB roster with top WR and top QB money. You will be depleted in areas that actually matter in winning. The trenches. That’s the fan disconnect. However, that’s why you’re right to want to get one on a rookie deal and why it’s so vital to hit on them in the draft. But it appears this is a league wide approach to the cap. Cousins is gone in Minnesota as they prepare to pay JJ. Higgins and Aiyuk this is 100 percent the last year on their teams. Don’t be shocked if this is Goff’s last year in Detroit. Just looks like the Chiefs were ahead of the curve with Hill and we were 1 year too late with Diggs. One of Coleman’s years had Diggs dead cap. I don’t know how they’re are still Diggs apologists left.

I missed this back in February. I don’t know any of you but I am very sorry for your loss! It’s good to hear they have good support. I have 4 boys. I just can’t imagine?!! 37 is way too young and he has a beautiful family! -

I keep saying that I'm going to do a breakdown that I never have time for, but the upshot is this: regardless of his roots, Brady showed a bunch of Shanahan play designs, specifically some of his mesh concepts and condensed formations. Condensed formations were also used in Detroit with Ben Johnson. What are the unique assets the Bills have on offense that most of the league doesn't? -Electruc run/receiving threat in James Cook. There were only three 1000 yard rushers with 400 yards passing in 2023 and two of them are Cook and CMC -Versatile outside, slot, backfield WR. Curtis in the poor man's Deebo -one of the better FBs in the league in Gilliam, when many teams have stopped using a full time one. Add in a developing Kincaid and an ok Knox, fold in Coleman and Davis and I think the Bills can make an offense that will batter the teams that have been getting lighter to defend the pass

My thoughts also...but the discount for DT on YTTV is the 16th, but it doesn't give a time like midnight or something else.

I thought LB would be Beane most stable position depth chart this off-season. the 4 returnees all played well last season and IMHO looked to need not much help. Instead Beane added Morrow, then drafted Ulofoshio and then added even more depth in Deion Jones. Now we have 7 LBs who one can make an argument could (should?) make the team. If memory serves we only carried 5 last season. Why so many? I think there are 2 possible explanations besides simple camp depth. First, is Milano not recovering as well as they hoped. If this is the case, the signings of Morrow and Jones make sense. Second, is McD contemplating using more of a traditional 4-3 this season? If this is the case, carrying 6 LBs next season again makes sense. If Jones has a good camp, Spector won't last too long on the PS.

If he can play 1 Tech, that’d be more likely path to eventually start on this team. Like I said to another poster, if he somehow supplanted Oliver and was the next coming of Aaron Donald that would be amazing, but I don’t really see that happening. Especially in his rookie season. Yes, one starting 3 Tech, who is Oliver.

I think it's realistic to assume that Hollins will be WR4 at best. I can see a scenario where he is beat out in camp and relegated to WR5. In those roles he will be behind the top 3 WRs along with a minimum of Cook and Kincaid and maybe behind Knox. Even as a WR4 he will be probably getting #7 pass catcher targets. 250-300 yards and 2-3 TDs would be fine with me in that role.

Rookie class- best Buffalo bills career
Mister Defense replied to khlax3's topic in The Stadium Wall
This. With 4/5 of your first five probable soon-to-be starters. Just leaving one off as it almost never works out that well. But I will add Davis, and put him near the top of the list. We saw how smart Brady was last year, to start running the ball like they meant it, and what that dynamic did for this team. Davis will take the running game to the next level and catch a bunch of passes too.
