I was thinking about how this offseason feels like it could be a different version of what the bills did in 89. For those not old enough to remember, the Bills had some success in the late 80s, making it to the AFC Championship in 88 and then losing a divisional game against the Browns the following year in 89. It was late in that 89 season/playoffs that the Bills discovered their K-gun offense. That Browns game ended with a Ronnie Harmon drop in the end zone. He criticized Kelly's throw and that offseason he was moved. They came back the next year with the new offensive mentality and lit the league on fire. We have had some success. Towards the end of this season and into our playoff games we shifted our focus on offense and had a playoff game where we had a skill player drop what could have been a game winning touchdown, who then criticized the QB and was subsequently moved in that off-season. That year following that 89 loss was the greatest Bills team of the superbowl era. I can only dream that our 2024 team finishes the job.

There's nothing anyone can say to convince me this isn't a very weak WR room. We are putting so much pressure on Kincaid and Coleman to be very good and I'll continue saying Shakir and Samuel are decent complimentary pieces but nothing more. I envision a lot of struggles on offense this year.

Not that I don’t agree but isn’t a receiver that can consistently ‘get open’ be top 10 regardless of who the qb is?

I’ll contain it to the top 4 WR still as that was the claim - written another way… are we thinking rookie WR7 is a top 15 receiver in the league and Samuel is an upgrade of note despite being much cheaper than the guy he’s replacing? i think both players will have fun flashes but I think saying this is our best group is perhaps…. Optimistic.

Bills-Texans was already a good candidate for a primetime game pretty much a lock now.

If Colman becomes our #1WR i Samuel is probably the best # 2 WR we’ve had here in a while and Shakir as # 3 WR is pretty darn good IMO add our two TE’s and Cook out of the backfield i feel good about this group

if Shakir is a massive piece he’s going to be too expensive and this was the year to draft likely developmental guy to replace him in 2 years (similar to Davis and Shakir requiring 2 years to be trusted)

Sorry for the loss. I unfortunately just lost my best friend this past Wednesday who was a die hard Bills fan and thought I should have a thread to share how amazing of a person he was. Then I happened to see this thread and thought I'd just mention it here... Gary was like a brother to me and because of him I went to my 1st Bills game. We had planned 30 years ago we were making the long trip up for the parade if Bills ever win a SB. Anyway, he was a true friend and I couldn't have hoped for a better one. My heart is crushed and a piece of me left when he did.

Yeah..........people always figure that the "last chance" stuff must be a motivator. But really? Nah. I think more often than not a player who strings together a lot of thoroughly disinterested play like Claypool has is just trying to squeeze out one more million dollar pay day......exert himself as little as possible while doing it........while also accruing yet another year in the pension benefit calculation.
