I get what you are saying and I don't know if Diggs fell off or he wasn't party of the offense by design seeing that they traded him the very next off-season. My point is you replaced Gabe with Palmer and went down the line but there was no Diggs replacement. I'd argue that even in 2023 he's better than anyone on the current roster. I also agree that Josh benefited by not having him pressuring him for the ball all game

Not trying to be a jerk, but did you watch him in college and have you seen the lower half of his body? He's not a 1-tech. He's not good against the run and rarely occupies 2 blockers. It's all myth and legend. Players might think they played better because they felt some sort of slight before the game. But they didn't. It makes for good emotive stories. But there is no factual basis whatsoever. Just a bunch of feels.

I think it's a year we learn more, which means we get closer (or all the way). I have been highly critical of McD, but anybody could see how talent deprived the defense was last year. Can this team play championship caliber defense? That is the big question. We should have the horses this year. We should be able to hold McD and company to solid playoff showing with the roster we have. If that doesn't go well, we should be concerned about our coaching. If it does go well, we should give McD more credit (if you're one that is skeptical). It would seem hard to come out of this year without clarity, but then again that is something we seem really good at.

You can doubt it all you want. What you're suggesting 1000% isn't going to happen. On top of the things Happy mentioned, it's simply biting off our own nose to spite our face. There's no scenario where what you suggest makes any sense. It's all negative, no positive. Beyond some sort of weird personal punishment fantasy you may have. At no point has there ever been a situation where there's been a contract dispute and the player is in house and a team said "I'll show them!" and sat a player that could help them win. This is simply not how NFL teams operate. All that would do is guarantee he's out of here after this year and make it so we didn't get the use of him we should have in the last year we have him. If that was what he was going to do, we would have just moved on this offseason.
