Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 2
NickelCity replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Could be. The allure of the unknown, plus flashes throughout the off-season, intrigue me wrt Hancock (It's going to be Bishop until he proves he can't do it imo. I hope he has a Bernard-esque ascendence) -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 2
Doc Brown replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wish he tweeted this. Number of times Bills lost by more than a score since 2021. Preseason: 8 times in 14 games Season/Playoffs: 3 times in 76 games -
On the subject of safeties, has anyone been watching Forrest? Thought he might have been a decent backup plan. But I am not hearing much about him one way or another
-
Everyone is getting their buttholes reamed right now. Let’s see how they respond. McD looked pissed and Beane looked incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassed when he was called up to interview in the booth last night.

Thats not bishop getting beat in the second clip. Bishop is on odunze over the middle. Erik Turner just pointed out that because the bills didn't game plan they just let bishop take OZ the wr there in the TD play, he said in a real game the bills would not let him take oz there and would end up taking kmet.

Joe Marino felt the need to lecture everyone for being annoyed with Hamlin on this team. Im so sick of this narrative from Damar defenders. Most of us don’t have anything against him. We can simply see with our two eyes that he’s a massive liability out there and due to the fact both our safeties are injury prone.. he plays all the time. What the **** kind of defense do we run where the DL is the most important part because we need to get pressure with 4, but also the linebackers are really important .. oh, and don’t forget slot corner.. can’t lose Taron.. and I mean, of course outside corners are of huge importance and did I forget to say that Safety play in our system is massively important because they’re the QB’s of the Defense? Pick a struggle and for the love of all that is holy, take a chance on upside guys who might make mistakes over depth linebackers and safeties who you “trust” to be in position, even though they’re average at best. Average, at best, has had to play in the playoffs and been a massive issue. -

Hamlin ain’t average. Rather a young guy that don’t know the playbook making his foolish mistakes then waste money on him. -

Cover 0 Defense is aptly named .. The Bills played it to perfection. -
The ones he dropped when he was open. This is Moore since Ole Miss. He creates separation there is always a but. His qb play… His usage. At the end of the day his catch percent of his targets is mid 50%. Similar to players that have roughly double his depth of target. It’s not always something else. At a point after 4-5 years it is him. For a guy who is fight for a role its not great. Yes getting separation is half the equation. Making the play is the other half. For an underneath pass catcher his consistency is not what you want. Those drops are what has plagued his career.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 2
NickelCity replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hancock did get some practice time with the 1s in the joint practices I believe. Give me another FA safety while also getting Hancock ready to go. -
I love these clips because it shows a lot of things. First Bishop doesn’t usually line up in the slot. First clip was cover 1, Looks like Bishop and the other DB decide to Banjo cover it and Bishop bites to hard on the outside move and gets beat hard inside. 2nd clip Bishop just gets beat by Odunze on an out route. Again we won’t see Bishop a ton in the slot playing man. The 3rd clip Latu is actually the right read. The LBs switch it off and actually Moore makes a mistake. Bills call a mesh which is a man beater but Moore keeps running into the defender versus sitting down in the vacant space and finally settles in front of the the LB The Hancock play in the run game is nice but the two DTs get washed 4 yards back right off the snap

True or False: The President of the USA is not allowed to go into the tHE St Louis Arch. Sorry to provide quick answer but have to get back to work.... True: President Eisenhower was the last POTUS, and Secret Service could not provide ample protection in tight areas, so sinc3e then, they have prohibited it as an allowed POTUS visiting destination. Carry on

Does there need to be a rethinking of the basic D?
JP51 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here is the other thing... If you ever had a chance to play an aggressive defense, its when you have an offense that scores at will... what they are doing isnt working... if they beat you they beat you... let them do it in 2 minutes not 7.... cause they are beating you anyways... we literally forced the least punt on defense in the entire league tied with Carolina... that is atrocious. -
They should do an all 22 on the coaching plan for this game as it was non-existent. Back up D was on field for 40 minutes. Offense 0-8 on third and 0-2 on fourth. Brillant game planning wound up injuring Hancock the only bright spot on D. Following Saturday's third and final pre-season game Dane jackson should be cut.

Oh I 100% agree. Beane is trying and hopefully Bosa stays healthy. Go ahead Take the bait. I will start. Over under - Did he fall down more times in the championship game than he had total sacks last year? He is terribly inconsistent. He is not a bad player but he is not great. Thus average. -

billsfan89 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The lack of size on the D-line has been an issue. But I do think this off-season they made an attempt to address it. Bosa, Hoecht, and Jackson are all bigger guys off the edge. Walker is a big DT and while Larry O and Sanders aren't "big" they are both known to be good run defenders. -

Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
Um he was bad last year. Its not an overreaction to yesterday. It's a rationale evaluation of a player not good enough to play but has an emotional tie to the coach, his teammates, and the community. Its time to move on -

If you have "average" players on the bench that's pretty good depth no? The NFL is about surviving a season with good depth as much as it is about star power at the top of your roster. I don't know if you look at other teams rosters but most teams don't have good backups. This idea that we shouldn't have Hamlin a good ST player who can plug in as a below average starting caliber safety off the bench because this team should focus on developing unknown player with theoretical upside is just people doing neuance trolling and demanding perfection. The Bills even signed Forrest to try to add depth and drafted a player in the mid to late rounds. Who else were they supposed to sign for a 3rd/4th safety for 2 million dollars that was gonna provide more value than Hamlin?
