A Few Thoughts about the Chiefs Game - Community Edition
extrahammer replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
This game felt like the Bills had been holding back a lot of the playbook in games prior, which makes me happy. Earlier on this season felt like they were holding back a lot more of the playbook than in past seasons. Not only that but the fever pitch before the game was insane, national media writing off the Bills for having a few bad games, and usually when the entire national sports media piles on against the Bills: Allen Iverson's favorite quarterback shows up. After the first touchdown, it felt like the Bills were flirting with a blowout on the Chiefs, and again later when it was 28-13. I really wanted to see that but I think it was obvious the Bills played insanely better pretty much the entire game, and the stats prove that. Not only that, but it was nice to see the defense play with a meanness we haven't seen in a while. AJ's hit on Mahomes, Mahomes barely having any time in the pocket, Bishop's hit on Kelce, Reggie's blocks on #32 from the Chiefs. Loved every bit of it. -

It's not unnoticed that he gets LT rep when the game is out of reach, I think he's the Dawkins future replacement plan. I love Brown, he's developed into a dominant Tackle and is respected in the locker room. -

Lets appreciate him by updating the thread title to "Spencer". -
I’m pretty much fine if we trade away both Day 2 picks as long as a WR is a long term investment. Beane seems to be solid in Round 1 and is very good on Day 3. Day 2, meh. If we don’t trade for a WR, we’re likely drafting one. So if a pick brings back a guy we plan on extending. I’m good with it. Then offer a 3rd for a DE rental. With Bishop, Hancock, Walker.. we’ll see about Sanders, Hairston looking like hits.. OL, LB, DL & WR are the needs for next year depending on extension and WR could be taken care of right now.

Not to mention - vastly different hail mary defense and it worked really well. -
Bills line made Jones look washed! Loved it!

It’s weird. The Bills built a defense to be smaller and get after the passer. If you do that, you can’t be slow too. 🤣🤣 Between Tre, Taron, Poyer and Rapp they just looked so slow. These few moves, more Hairston, Hancock on passing downs, and Cam playing some, have made them faster. -
I bet you would change your tune if Cole Bishop was your gay son!

Yep - he was a beast yesterday! -
This and Gabe Davis waiting in the wings have me doubting that Beane is looking to trade for a WR. Plus, I go back to the aspect that the Steelers gave up a #2, #6 picks, and 30 million to DK Metcalf, and he is not adding much to their offense. Ty Johnson and Ray Davis might be used more often in the passing game going forward. Besides, I'm not convinced that OC Joe Brady would put an expensive #1 WR to work like some here think.

I'll give some credit where due. I love that on the last 2 Hail Mary plays, the Bills rushed 4 on the first one, and rushed 5 on the last play! They didnt let Mahomes sit back there all comfy and find a spot to throw to. He had to move around and felt the pressure. Hopefully McD has finally learned how to defend Hail Marys. -
That would definitely be a nice acquisition for sure and I've wondered if it could be pulled off but I'm not sure if the Bills cap would have enough to pay him seeing as they have paid a bunch of their guys already ? Didn't Simmons get a huge extension recently ? But if Beane could make it happen I think he would .

Alot of things to talk about in game but I was very impressed with how line and Spenser played. Have not seen all 22 but that running play where he was pushing jones down the field was great.

Chargers losing their next 2 before the bye kinda has some benefits too at least. Keeps the Steelers ahead of the ravens and if Baltimore and kc both get forced into the wildcard race I don’t think both can make it chargers game in two weeks is Jax who is putting pressure on kc in the wildcard race. Of course if Denver fumbles too that opens the division back up for kc though and maybe no one else steps up for the wildcard if you knock the chargers back a few games -

Speak for yourself. I'm not stressing because the Bills don't have a big name #1 WR. I'm not sure that OBD is either, especially if they believe that Palmer can come back soon. If the Bills make a trade for a WR, it will be for a modest WR about like Palmer. Look around the league. Injuries to key personnel happen all the time, not to just the Bills. Last year, the Lions great team in September was derailed early, starting with losing Aiden Hutchinson. Last year, Jayden Daniels took the Commanders to the NFC Championship game as a rookie. This year, in his first game back from a hamstring injury, Daniels dislocated his elbow. The decision to kick the FG was the right one. The execution wasn't there, but that's on the players not the HC. Execution again. Several times during the game, McDermott called TOs to help get the defense settled because of all the new defenders in the secondary, and the Chiefs had fewer opportunities for mismatches. Specifically for the 4th and 17, Spagnola seems to have faked out Bosa just enough to make him hesitate for an extra second so Mahomes could throw. I wouldn't cut Prater until/unless I had somebody better ready to sign or Bass was ready to come back. I believe that Prater had a minor calf problem prior to the game. -

Watching the game my son and I both said at the same time "OMG Kelce was wide open" Kelce was visibly frustrated too -

It's pretty close but they are not offside. I brought the clip into avid and slowed it down frame by frame, the ball is snapped and they are not Offside...they both jumped at that moment akwardly. -

He had that game because of Hoecht. Without Hoecht we are back to no pressure. Beane will make a move because now we all know what the solution is/was. -
I had a tinfoil hat thought the other day along these lines. There’s been more injuries showing up in practice this year than any year I can remember. What if some of those are just the player deciding he can keep playing hurt/hiding the injury? What I mean is that a player is playing through injury for weeks, but hiding it from team officials so he doesn’t have to be listed on the injury report. At some point, he realizes it’s not getting better, so he “gets hurt” in the next practice, and all of a sudden is missing games. Note: I don’t actually believe this. But I also can’t disprove it, and at this level of competition I wouldn’t put anything past these players.

Bills’ greatest needs heading into the trade deadline?
GASabresIUFan replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
After last night’s game it looks like our most pressing need is boundary's WR followed by safety. With Palmer hurt and Coleman being only marginal, we still have no one who can get open down the field. It’s a big problem. Maybe Davis helps some eventually, but we help now and long-term. Maybe Shaheed or Olave are part of the solution. At safety, Poyer is starting. That should say it all. Bishop is developing nicely, but with Rapp gone for the year, Hamlin on IR and the depth behind Poyer is a rookie Hancock and a journeyman in Franklin, there has to be some help out there. -
