Manning may come out in 2026. Or not. We don't know. Some other good young players may well be there.

Beane elaborates on the process of picking Josh Allen
Thurman#1 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Power was a terrific safety. Yes, the last half of a year here he was a shell of himself and in Miami he didn't look like he'd recovered a bit. But he was excellent through most of his career here. Diggs was a great pickup. Great. No, things didn't end well. And you can certainly argue the extension near the end. But he helped Josh become Josh Allen. Elam was a bad pick. It's not like other teams don't screw up sometimes. They do. Every single one of them does. Yes, Reid still talks about Mahomes, when he's asked about it. And yes, Roseman goes on about Hurts when he's asked about it. Beane was asked.#3, fine. But the fact is that he was playing like a lower-level #2 -- as a rookie -- until the injury. And yes he had some drops late. Think the wrist injury might have had something to do with that? He might easily have gotten 750 if he'd played without an injured wrist. No way to say for sure, but in the first 8 games he put up 396 yards. And in the last games before the injury on Nov. 3rd he'd averaged 64 yards a game, We don't really know what he'll be but there's a pretty decent chance he'll be quite good indeed. -
Beane elaborates on the process of picking Josh Allen

Well, first, people don't say, "We can't find difference makers picking so late." They say, correctly, that it's harder finding difference makers picking so late. It just is. And if you pick late more years, it will be harder in those years. The Bills did pick later more often. And yet they also found difference makers. All Pros aren't the only difference makers, they just aren't. Aaron Johnson is a difference maker. And an All Pro. Matt Milano is a difference maker. And an All Pro. Dion Dawkins is a difference maker. Spencer Brown looks like he's getting there. Christian Benford is a difference maker. Terrell Bernard too. Josh certainly is, kinda goes without saying. Kincaid showed every sign before the injury, but still has a lot more to prove. There's a reason why in every draft ranking the Bills are listed top six or seven for the length of the Beane/McDermott era despite winning more games than nearly anyone else (including Philly with three SBs in that time including two wins) and thus starting with worse picks. They've done quite well. The last three years both have been really good teams. The years before that Philly did much better with getting losses and higher picks during the years when they brought in guys who are now matured pros. The thing Philly has done a lot better is being pretty bad in years when they didn'T make the Super Bowl. Damn them. Very well run franchise. And the Bills are close. -
Peyton stayed his senior year because the Jets had the #1 pick in '97. Eli after '03 was projected to go behind Palmer and Leftwich so he stayed another year. Both did a good job of sugar coating their decision though. Get a degree. Blah, blah, blah. I agree that it's not likely Arch declares for the draft next year but if the Saints have the #1 pick it might be too hard to pass up. The Giants and Colts could be in play too. You never know what team's picking first in 2027. He's actually the betting favorite at +200 to go #1 next year. It'll be an interesting story to follow. That's for sure.

Bills claim Casey rogers off waivers

We are officially at 90. So we have one more roster spot open (with the exemption for Clayton). -
What’s the deal with Winston and Cousins?
Mikie2times replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not to mention it’s not like these guys are struggling to get by at this point. Manning has the biggest NIL deal of anybody at this point. -
Alright..Let's get Jamar Chase and CeeDee Lamb ! Go Bills !!!
-
It's really not that big of a deal. There's a reason they move corners who have gotten too slow to safety. It's an area you can hide if you have enough game knowledge. It's especially if you have great ball skills and play a lot of zone. If Hamlin can stick around long enough to acquire the game knowledge due to playing hard and his ST contributions. I wouldn't be shocked to see a guy like him play into his mid thirties as a contributor.

What’s the deal with Winston and Cousins?
Richard Noggin replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Isn't Cousins under contract with Atlanta, who has not shown any public eagerness to move him so far? (Maybe I missed something) -
The only leverage he has is trying to garner public sympathy and/or threaten to weaken the "culture" that Beane/McDermott have built. He won't sit out because that means giving up more money than he's made the first three years combined. It also makes another team way less likely next off-season to hand out any double digit yearly figure contract you're trying to get right now. Plus, Beane can always use the threat of a franchise tag even if he does have another year similar to last year. The NFLPA loves to say every time it's time to re-up the contract that they want to get rid of the franchise tag but never do.
-
The article also states: So that kind of flies in the face of holding out to a point that he'd miss any regular season time. Between this and Beane's recent comments that Cook's been in contact with people in the building that lead him to believe this won't be an issue this season - I imagine he's not going to miss more than maybe the first week of Training Camp, if anything. I've mentioned this a few times before but it feels like what his brother Dalvin did in 2020. Wherein he threatened he may hold out and it became a story - then he ended up reporting the first day of Training Camp. The family knows that missing any of the season is going to make it harder to get what he wants.
-
You know his floor and ceiling at least. Same goes for Dane Jackson. We prefer an upgrade but can get by as long as you are the weakest link of this defense. Problems start when you have too many of these type of players. Fans that personally bash a player like Hamlin though are just using him as a conduit to express their frustration over McDermott's conservative reputation and his defense annually under performing in the playoff losses the last five years imo.

Being slow is a pretty serious flaw for a safety. Just sayin

Freddie's Dead replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
You wanna trade for Rapeis Winston? By all means. Captain Kirk is who we should have drafted instead TJumptomakeacatch Graham (or Russ Wilson, they were both on the board when we picked that POS). That and the Rapeis thing.... -
Hunnerd percent.

It is rapps spot out the gate as he’s the vet. But his 100+ coverage grade needs to be improved upon. Given the investment bishop really needs to make the decision easy this year on safety #1. The Forrest signing and Hancock draft get me excited cause they have the athleticism to compliment bishop better than rapp. So it’s rapp to start in the spring but let’s see how TC plays with two better athletes getting time on task.

I found it noteworthy that Hancock himself very recently said S is his most natural position (over NCB). He's currently learning both, no doubt, but admittedly feels more natural at S. Of course it's possible the stated plan for Hancock changes/evolves throughout the summer. I'm compelled by the scattered Micah Hyde comps. GB wasn't sure at first (or ever) where Hyde belonged, either. McD sure saw his best fit with crystalline clarity. Fingers crossed Hancock makes his value known early and often, wherever that turns out to be.
