Allen missed a wide open Knox on the final play
NoSaint replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
does it strike you while typing that he can trust an elite guy but struggles at times with mediocre guys? Talent matters. We’ve given him little on the perimeter. -
It cannot. That's the realization I had.

No, I'm a bit bummed we didn't win but it was an entertaining game against an amazing defense and we had a chance to take it at the end. We're 7-4 with good wildcard tiebreakers, so we're extremely likely to make it into the tournament, and from there, anything could happen. It's an extremely high-parity league, and "any given Sunday" is a phrase for a reason. Our O-line got rocked by an elite D-line and it made our lives very difficult on offense. It happens. The Texans' defense is 1 of 1 this season.

Screams, and I mean screams, coaching/attitude.

Brady again got pass happy in the second and third quarters and abandoned the run game. Cook averaged 6.8 yards per carry and only touched the ball 17 times. When your pass protection isn't working, implement the run game and force the Texans into the box. Not effective play calling -
the offense didn’t have the talent on the field to do what fans are clamoring for There are only so many ways to hero ball Josh-James with the defense not having to cover anything over the top or slow developing

You lost me at “great defensive coordinator” he is anything but that.

IMO, you cannot be scared to move on, worried about who will replace him. That's playing scared. That's McDermott's philosophy, and now it makes sense why people in that headspace want to keep him. People are afraid to lose. McDermott is afraid to lose. You can't live that way. Get busy living or get busy dying...this thing has been fading away for years now. And that seems to be the sentiment. We all pretty much know he sucks, and deep down know he won't win the big game. And the fanbase seems to be split into a group that knows he sucks but is afraid to move on and a group that wants a different voice. Then have your few loyalists who give him cart blanche because he ended the drought. He isn't it, and it will never happen with him. It does not matter who you hire because in this situation, different is better. He's a terrible head coach. Does anyone really, truly, deep down believe that we can win a Super Bowl with this guy at the helm?

It’s Brady. Any competent OC knows you have to call plays to get them to back off on the rush. Screens, quick slants, stuff like the long gain by Shakir. Draw plays. Anything but having Josh waiting for 3-4 seconds to throw and get buried as a result.

True... but of all our WRs... Palmer is likely the best route runner with decent ability to separate. There have been a lot of instances this season in which Palmer has been open, but Allen isn't looking his way and/or just doesn't throw to him. Not sure if it's the lack of chemistry and reps playing together or what. Allen definitely seems like the type of QB that needs time to build trust and chemistry with his receivers. I think Shakir is a good example of that. Diggs hit the ground running and the connection with Allen was there from Day 1, but I remember hearing about how Diggs was always talking to Allen during his first off-season with the Bills and working extra hard to develop chemistry, so that obviously helps. -
So the plan isn't made off the cuff during the game, right? Brady and McD formulate it throughout the week. So who is this on? Both.

What happened to that 6th lineman? We did that all last year. Last night would have been perfect. If we lose 1 guy that can run a route so what? What’s the difference if the QB is being hit before they get open anyway -
This is NOT complicated! It’s McDermott. The man has already been through multiple OCs and DCs. What more does anyone need to see?

Division is out at this point…have to do it as a wildcard

Starting next practice, there will be laps run. Lots of laps. And no water. 🤨 -
Snap Counts from Bills/Texans game.

I think it's arrogance on Brady's part. He is always late to recognize what the defense is doing and adjust. One of his quotes he has said numerous times is that he believes there is a chance to win every week on offense. It's his job to figure out what that was is and exploit it. I agree with him. He needs to do a better job of it. I'll give him a bit of credit. The offense comes out very well prepared most weeks and has success on their opening drive. But once the scripted plays are done...Brady has nothing. I think he slowly earning some snaps back. He went from I believe 2 on Sunday to 9 last night. But, he may end up making himself too valuable as a KR to risk taking a beating as a RB. I don't believe McDermott is making the call of which offensive player get snaps and when. That's largely on Brady and what personel groups are in for the plays he calls. -
I was at the game and let me tell you what was happening downfield

Seems to me we're running the same designed pass plays when Tyrod Taylor was here. Two speedsters Woods and Goodman never got separation. But, once they left Buffalo they went wild as receivers. Our receivers aren't great but the routes they are forced to run are a joke. Worse than high school. What should be a short pass our guys are still running thirty yards downfield. Anyone can see that from the end zone cam from Allen's back. Huh? -
Never seen so many backwards passes in my life

He's clearly lost the locker room. A lot of these guys look like they've packed it in for the year. Our start QB committed zero time in the offseason to football. You can tell he did not train, thought he'd made it once he won the MVP and could just stroll out there. He's playing like it's 2018. The rest of them team is playing like it's 2010.
