  1. Past hour
  2. Bonzo would of been 77 today.
  3. Used to be somewhat common—open wine beer softdrinks but I have to say, I’ve noticed more purely staffed open bars these days. Like everything else, just “more”. today. (Nobody honeymoons Niagara or ADK either).
  4. You’re like a beaten dog. Hiding into your corner when not sure what to do.
  5. So he traded a 1st round pick for a sure thing for a WR diva in AJ Brown who has given them three straight 1,000 yard seasons and has been instrumental in helping Hurts develop as a quarterback. Bright guy.
  6. If she has a father nowadays 😎
  7. On a happy note, and because it has been mentioned in this thread, Truman ended its' eight+ month deployment and docked in Norfolk today. The airwing would have flown off a couple days prior. Fly-offs and landing at your home base after a long cruise are tremendously happy days that you never forget.
  8. Raiders had the Steelers, Colts had the Patriots, Dallas had the 49ers. It's not like the Chiefs can't be beat. If they're worthy enough they will, if they aren't they won't. That is sort of the point I'm making?
  9. Schotty's Chargers Schotty's Chiefs Green's Vikings
  10. Agree it doesn't need to be discussed in literally every thread. We all know it and feel it.
  11. Hey, I agree. I want a Superbowl just as much as any other fan. But it is kind of annoying that any time anything positive is ever said about the team, there is a contingent of fans that come and say "it doesn't matter because we haven't won the superbowl." It gets old. We all want it. We all get it. They aren't saying anything we all don't already know. It is just this joyless, wet blanket of an attitude that isn't fun for anyone.
  12. I wonder if someone is taping the whole thing, the wedding and reception. If so, and made public, I would love to see it.
  13. Yeah I'm shocked by the amount of people claiming to have been to all these open-bar weddings in the 70's. It was quite rare back then (in my neck of the woods anyway) and people would almost brag about it had they been to one. Especially considering that the average cost of a wedding back then was only $2k. I just did a little research and found a post by a bartender who did weddings in the 70's - he said the open bar was around $600 for 2 hours. So the open bar would have been about 30% of the total wedding cost. Long story short, maybe the others in this thread have very affluent friends. Or maybe you and I just grew up around very poor people 🤣
  14. Name 5 highly successful teams that never went to a Super Bowl that history holds in high regard? Hell, name 3?
  15. Except ALL those teams ARE remembered. They are famous teams in NFL history. So I can't buy your argument. It is not all that matters from a historical perspective.
  16. "The only thing that matters" is a really subjective concept so it's hard for me to unpack. You can argue nearly everything matters just as easily. To me what is ultimately remembered about a team or era is what matters. I can't think of any franchise in NFL history who is remembered very fondly for incredible success in the regular season and never having won one. The 90's Bills are about as close as it comes to that and it took 20+ years for them to be remembered in any positive manner. The Purple people eaters, Broncos are similar, but in all these examples teams went to 3 or more Super Bowls. What is the group we are discussing when we start to say never having been to one or maybe just one? It's hard to think of many. Maybe the Run and Shoot Houston Oilers or the Air Coryell Chargers? Both might be more memorable simply from offensive innovation and not success. Most people don't want that as fans or for Josh. So the celebratory notions ring a bit hollow.
  17. Maybe im wrong. Or maybe its regional? Im honestly not sure. My understanding was that open bar is a (relatively) new phenomenon. Most people I knew back in the day could not afford open bar, and also it was frowned upon because religion had a much stronger grip on society. I looked it up and as of last year, only 62% of weddings had an open bar.
  18. Oh Diggs was a "sure thing" all right lol! If Roseman had not also put together a roster that played in 2 of the last 3 SBs, destroying a 15 win Chiefs team, you might have a point. They could shrug of a bad decision at WR. He quickly rebounded by drafting Smith and then traded for AJ Brown. Beane brought in his usual minibus load of week old bread bin guys who end their careers in Buffalo soon after their 1 year paper expires.... Diggs never moved the needle for the Bills--zero impact: with or without Diggs, Bills win the division, lose to the Chiefs in the playoffs. It cost a potential top rookie WR on a 5 year contract and 31 million in dead cap, plus all the predictable immaturity/headaches.
  19. It is entertainment to me too. Which is why I won't apply a higher bar to it than the stuff that matters. It can. But that is different a Superbowl being "all that matters."
  20. That’s a great perspective! I apply this mentality to real life, which sports fandom isn’t for me. It’s strictly entertainment.
  21. We have beaten up on the bad teams with regularity. But when it matters in the playoffs, we have fallen short especially on defense. And that’s all that really matters. The Chiefs have been in 5 SB’s. And we have been in 0. Ouch that stings.
  22. I think Kincaid still has lots of room to grow so I agree he is someone I'm not just giving away
  23. Guess it’s okay if the conversations meander a t(h)ad 😐 Are the Bills your first NFL love? Whats your first Bills memory either way? - Yes. One and only - My first memory is hearing around the house that Jim Kelly is destroying with the Gamblers and acting cautiously exuberant that he’s coming to save the Bills. The very first word-for-word quote I can recall is, (on the 1987 season) “Grandpa thinks the Bills aren’t too bad.” One more random thought.. can anyone can shed light on the Legend of Brian McClure? He’s 61 now so nothing life threatening. But drafted by Bills in 86, starts one game in 87, and the stream runs dry? Injuried beyond repair in his only game? Did he get recruited by The Farm? Cold War Double Agent? https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McClBr20.htm
  24. What makes the lesser triumphs not as appealing to me at this stage is those 90's Bills. This franchise already has the gold standard in all of sports for doing everything BUT winning a championship. The success of this team is nearly unprecedented comparative to the lack of success in the postseason. That will be the narrative that gets remembered long term about this period in Bills history if they never get it done. The pursuit of a championship is always enjoyable. Josh is incredible. It's a much more fun time to be a fan than the drought years. I think that can be true along with the general feeling some of expressed in this thread.
