He played that way her too for about the first year and a half, maybe 2 years then became a problem.
-
Quite a few times this season Josh has changed the play at the line into something that simply hasn’t worked. Now…there’s no telling what the original call was.
-
I thought he was yelling at the guy that hit him, who was chirping at the time. I bet dollars to doughnuts that if you created a chart based on the number of penalties called against the Bills by Hochuli vs the number they draw on average, you would find a very similar result, which is even more damming than W/L, imo.

The final play to Shakir. Samuel was wide open for easy TD

I think there is a difference in saying Josh didn’t play great vs. hanging the loss in him. There was plenty of blame to be spread around to be sure. -
Blame Diggs. His antics led to his removal from the team. If he played with the desire he showed last night in the playoffs, we probably have a Super Bowl appearance.
-
A trusted veteran with limited skills. It's infuriating. If/when Hairston is healthy, I don't see how he can be worse than Tre at this point, regardless of experience or knowledge of the system.
-
Also what the fuuu happened to Oliver? I know this team never lets anything out but what a strange injury and he's missed 4 weeks but we didn't put him on IR?
-
He ia alerting a LOT right now. That suggests two possibilities to me. Either we are not getting the right calls in OR Josh is over thinking a bit trying to get into the perfect look. I think there might be a bit of both going on
-
I wish they looked at Pickens, cheap contract and didn't cost a lot. I honestly didnt think White would even make the team let alone a guy getting 80%+ of the snaps.
-
Sick of hearing how complex our defense is. Why if so complex, are they so very mediocre every season? Maybe McD and his boy toy Babich need to think about using the KISS principle when coming up with a defensive game plan.

No More Whiteouts again ever in Buffalo Bills history

Couldn't see player numbers. Our logo on the helmet was invisible. And yes we have a losing record with white tops. Not a fan of these money grab unis. -
And Allen gave them 7 so guess that makes him even worse. And Keon also gave them 7 with a TD to, but you left that part out. so gues that makes him +3 for the game. Yes was bad fumble, but as many pointed out the entire game by everyone except Kincaid and their kicker were bad.

Only egregious one was the “wide open Samuel TD” throw to Shakir on third down. Was borderline 50/50 at best. Call should go to the offensive side if so.

I don't think his route break was sharp enough to cleanly separate. I'm not gonna get on Shakir too much for it, that's not the strength of his game. But yeah that is the problem when you don't have any legit separators in your WR room, these sorts of throws in man coverage are always going to be crazy tight windows and the QB will need to be perfect. -
The Upcoming Trade Deadline: 2025 Edition
Mister Defense replied to ryguy101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kind of a duh one here--the Bills must, must, must get 2 capable cornerbacks as the cupboard is bare, and just as bare whether they do the right thing and cut White this week or keep him as either way they do not have a cornerback who can play the position consistently. True in the summer, true now--the Bills are in jeopardy of blowing this season, not giving themselves more than a tiny chance of winning it all, with White as cb. And they need depth behind Hairston/in front of him until he returns and after. Not a Beane basher, but maybe about to be if he does not fix this. -

I had the exact same reaction; just gobsmacked that people could be trying to hang this loss on him. As for the pick, I just though he was a half-second late on the throw; he probably held that one a touch too long before he let it go between the hashes. -

Those unis looked God awful to me. Kind of reminded me of the 1960 ones when they had blue and silver in them since Ralph was from Detroit. -
I believe someone pointed out last night that there was a four-year gap between games that Hochuli officiated for us. Like between 2018-2022. Is that true and if so, what was going on there? And one of his first games back with us was that debacle in Philly in 2023, where he flagged Josh for IG instead of calling RTP. It just seemed like every time they had to make a call against the Pats — especially the blatantly obvious ones where the Pats lost their minds on back-to-back plays roughing Allen and Cook — Hochuli called them together for a lengthier-than-normal conference. Almost like he was hoping to be able to make offsetting calls rather than give the Bills 15. And the one time he DID make an offsetting call, it was on a critical third down to gave the Pats a do-over that they converted … and Hochuli seemed like he was almost smirking when he announced it. Last night not only did Shakir get mugged, but Josh got hit in the head after he threw it. You could see Josh direct an F-bomb in Hochuli’s direction before walking off the field, and I would love to know what else he said. My guess it was along the lines of “what else would we expect from you?” I’m with the people who think the league needs some drama in the division. This was really their only chance at creating it. The Jets have turned out to be a complete tire fire, the Dolphins are donezo (and not even an interesting watch) without Tyreek… so the Pats and Maye were the league’s last chance this year at keeping things “interesting.” It’s not an accident that we got Land Clark and Shawn Hochuli these last two weeks. It’s just not.

Great post Ethan. I said last night. White needs to go. He could not cover college receivers at this point. And Shaq is still good and plays hard w an edge. -
Gonna have disagree with you, His speed alone will be an improvement over Tre, and I have the upmost respect for Tre, … what is it folk think he has been doing since being injured??? He spends his time rehabbing and studying the play book and watching film, Max is likely very comfortable with the CB responsibilities in this defense, the guy isn’t an idi ot, the ole “ catch 22” thing? Can’t play because he hasn’t played yet…, come on now,

It isn't about being fast so much is it is about route running and nuance. The stats show teams are having success going deep even against shell coverage. That is because they have guys who can find the holes and get open. We don't.

Been there and I feel for you . Losing a pet is very saddening. -
Little statistical analysis here. Since Shawn Hochuli came into the league the Bills are 1-5 in regular season plus posteason games officiated by Hochuli. The Bills are 88-44 over this time span in all regular season plus postseason games (so 87-39 if you exclude Hochuli games). We can set up a 2x2 contingency table W L Total With Hochuli 1 5 6 Without Hochuli 87 39 126 Total 88 44 132 The null hypothesis for this analysis is that there is no difference between Shawn Hochuli and other crews - that is all crews call Bills games the same and Bills are equally likely to win no matter who the referee is. Running Fisher's exact test on this data gives a p value of 0.0157. This means there is a 1.57% chance that the Bills could randomly be 1-5 with Hochuli and 87-39 with all other officials. Meaning there's a 98.4% chance Shawn Hochuli is biased against the Bills to a statistically significant degree. Meaning Shawn Hochuli is biased against the Bills.
