11/2/25 GAMEDAY Bills vs Chiefs 4:30pm Post Game Thread

Many people on this board know a hell of a lot more about football intricacies than I do. I have a question. Losing Hoecht is huge. He is a tremendous athlete for a big guy and creates a mismatch rushing the passer from the inside. I have read Epenesa is also a freakish athlete. Could he attempt to fill Hoecht's role on obvious passing downs? That would put our 3 best pass rushers on the field in key situations. -

Great job. I continue to be flummoxed as to why the Bills refuse to throw to running backs. At least the one was a big one. -
We have had problems on 3rd and long for a couple years now.

So much of that is due to having a modest, unassuming superstar quarterback. He sets the tone and is a special person, overall. -

I wouldn't have tried anything past 55. I'd have punted. But 52 yards, yea, your kicker just HAS to make that kick. No excuses. -

Everyone eats, everyone ate?

A lot of guys made one big play yesterday while Kincaid and Shakir carried the water. I laud their contributions. It's all well and good, except that we're still missing the equivalent of that Josh to Diggs connection on "gotta have it" 3rd and 4th downs. Any argument that we're somehow better off without an elite WR is just coping with the fact that we don't have one. That's my issue with the everybody eats phrase...it's a matter of circumstance, not intention. -
The primary problem with the long conversions
GunnerBill replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I definitely think we should be getting Hairston in full time sooner rather than later. I'm fine for now with them time sharing.... but by the time we hit December this needs to be Max's job. However, I'd just hold horses on the rest. I don't think Bishop's improvement as Poyer has come in alongside him is a coincidence. Po has always been known as an excellent communicator back there and I think that is making a massive difference to Bishop being in the right spot to let his physical gifts (which have always been there) allow him to make plays. And I think Cam has played well at nickel. Frankly he has played better than Taron this year. They need to make sure they have packages that get Hancock some experience but he isn't ready to just be thrown out there yet. He is still working through some growing pains. They are using him more at safety anyway, but I still think our long term nickel should be his future home. -

Especially with Hoecht tearing his Achilles in Week 9. It's likely we may not have him to start the season. May also be the last year of A.J. Epenesa, who is really having a helluva season as an off the bench, rotational DE. -
I saw one at the game yesterday. Absolute trash. Not only is it cheap plastic, but they are also tiny for what they are calling a "stein." The best way I can describe it is if McDonalds gave out beer steins in a Happy Meal.

Yeah that play sucked and Bills should have done better on it but Im not losing sleep over the fact that one of the best QBs ever on one of the best teams ever coached by one of the best offensive coaches ever was successful on one big play against the Bills. Simplerā¦Itās the Chiefs. Sooner or later they were gonna get theirs.

I agree in principle if this was Tyler Bass, but he's our stopgap 41 year old semi-retired kicker. You can't trust him 50-55 and I wouldn't even put him out there over 55 yards. Let's hope the coaches don't share your opinion and game plan(ned) accordingly. -
Nah you call the Browns about Maliek Collins and see if you can peel him off. JS is not available.

Was it wise to risk a kicker who was nursing an injury though? If fully fit I agree, the kick should be made. Instead I have some sympathy for him because of it. -

Mahomes took an absolute beating this game. Same with Kelce. I really wish I could the replay of Cole Bishop destroying him -

Great recap!!! My thanks also go out to Taylor Swift for not showing up, which allowed the refs to call a fair game. -

Absolutely hammered him and it was a completely legal hit to boot, even with that ridiculous "body weight" standard. AJE rolls off at the final moment. And I'm STILL shocked it wasn't flagged. -

One thing you have to say about this McBeane administration is that they've created the most positive, family-like locker room in football. And not in the "coach lets us do what we want" way, either. It's a fantastic situation for being perpetually ahead of the game in FA acquisitions. -
@Simon, we had some people over to watch the game and I kid you not, a play before this happened a friend of mine said he was tired of QBs in general using the sideline to bait defenders into penalties and was posturing for a rule that said if any part of the QB is inbounds he is fair game. Then we all watched Epenesa crush Mahomes and waited for the flag that never cameā¦it was awesome.

Well Simon, I enjoy WGR in the mornings for the Jeremy and Joe show as well as the Sal led extra point show as it reminds me of Buffalo. Iāve been away for 30+ years so it brings me a little closer to home. With that said, I agree with your assessment in that Hancock and Hairston are new to their positions, and Cam is a backup. Bishop is coming into his own. I expect with each week they will keep getting better. Taron will be back. Benford played well. We canāt expect all of these new bodies to be in total sync right away. On the positive side, the defensive line for the first time in the McD era has looked well. Now losing Oliver last week, and Hoecht yesterday was two serious blows to it. AJE has had some real flashes, GROOT has looked great. Itās more of a quiet impact, but Ogunjobi has made an impact. Even Jermaine Phillips has been good. We really need to get Tre and Poyer off the field. Let them be player coaches, but no snaps unless someoneās hurt. Since the Fins and Jetās are dumpster fires, the next big test is the Bucs. They are banged up as well. I hear more on their injuries on,y in that I live here. Everything is amplified here just like Iām sure most other cities. -
