  1. The Strategic Importance of Stopping the Fentanyl Slaughter John P. Walters Last week, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was the victim of bad staff work. At the end of his meetings with officials of the People’s Republic of China, he told the BBC: Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, [is] the biggest killer of Americans between the ages of 18 and 45. And the way it’s made is with chemicals, ingredients, the precursors, that get synthesized into this opioid. And those chemicals are often manufactured in China, for totally appropriate and legal purposes, but then they get diverted to criminal organizations that turn them into fentanyl and send them into the United States. We’ve seen a real change in terms of cooperation from China in trying to deal with that. With the exception of the “biggest killer” sentence, Secretary Blinken’s statement is wildly inaccurate. https://www.hudson.org/strategic-importance-stopping-fentanyl-slaughter-john-p-walters
  2. Well it seems that while all of us board experts wanted the Bills to draft a great WR and a safety, Beane wanted to restock the team with a large number of quality, football players. Who'd a thunk it. ,
  3. I confess that I have paid zero attention to the appalling Ms. Stein, but it turns out that, although Jewish, she is pro-Hamas. In fact, she got herself arrested yesterday at a pro-Hamas demonstration in St. Louis. Might Stein become the favored candidate of the Democrats’ anti-Semitic wing? It seems she might. If she raises a little money and starts to get some traction, she might take away a more than nominal number of votes from Biden in states like Michigan and Minnesota. https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/article-798982 https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2024/04/todays-horserace-snapshot.php .

  5. Justice Thomas raised crucial question about legitimacy of special counsel's prosecution of Trump Jack Smith was a private citizen when AG Garland appointed him as special counsel to investigate Trump in 2022 By Thomas Phippen Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas raised a question Thursday that goes to the heart of Special Counsel Jack Smith's charges against former President Donald Trump. The high court was considering Trump's argument that he is immune from prosecution for actions he took while president, but another issue is whether Smith and the Office of Special Counsel have the authority to bring charges at all. "Did you, in this litigation, challenge the appointment of special counsel?" Thomas asked Trump attorney John Sauer on Thursday during a nearly three-hour session at the Supreme Court. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/justice-thomas-raised-crucial-question-about-legitimacy-special-counsels-prosecution-trump .
