Fumbled Clock before Halftime

WTF happened there?

 

First Maye was down inbounds but the refs stopped the clock

 

Then I think there was a play and the refs ran off 10 seconds but added 2 seconds back on

 

Then the Pats run a play with .06 left and the clock never started until after the guy was tackled 10 yards down field

 

Then the refs put .02 on the clock and let the Pats kick a FG

 

That FG attempt should have never even happened but incompetent Refs doing their thing yet again against the Bills

 

The Bills should file a complaint with the league because that whole sequence was BS, luckily it didnt cost them the game.

It was a crazy sequence of events.  The Bills also probably made a poor choice to not keeping the WR propped on that last play and let the clock reach zero

 

The 10 second run off favored the Patriots as they couldn't have spiked the ball within 10 seconds...that meant they also would have had only one play instead of the two they got.

In fairness, the refs had been off of the Patriots dynasty-assurance team and had moved on to KC's for the last 7 years...they are a bit rusty when trying to assist the Patriots.

I have seen more clock screw ups this year than any year I can recall in NFL officiating. How they came up with "errr..... put two seconds on" was indescribable. Total guess work. 

 

I don't think the play did take a full 6 seconds, I think Henderson probably had given himself up in time, but the officials had no clue. They just guessed.

Failing to start the clock at the snap at the end of the half was bush league or gross incompetence - or both.  You would be pissed off if that happened in a Jr High football game let alone the NFL.

Let's of Gillette BS in this game. Can't get good replays and angles quickly to the Bills but have replays immediately for anything dubious from the bills? Interesting how many folks noticed

I love how the announcers just skipped over it like it was no big deal. Between them having an ***** every time the cheats scored to the blatant time clock cheating incident. They were just horrible.

What, did you miss the game?  There were 6 seconds left on the clock and the Pats decided to run one more play which was risky.  At the snap the clock did not start.  BOTH announcers yelled out that the clock didn't start and the refs said the same.  The only mystery is how did he refs determine only 4 seconds ran off the clock during a 13 yard run.

 

This was an inexcusable mistake by the clock operator at the stadium and considering the circumstances may have been a deliberate attempt to ensure time did not run out before the Pats FG.  Bush league all around.

Agreed, and the previous play where Maye was tackled was the most obvious “still in bounds” call I can remember getting screwed up somehow. 
They tried to replay it in slow mo as if it would be close, and he was down like 3 feet from the sideline 😆

The clock operator botched the final play, but I think the timing was correct. 

 

On first play officials called maye oob. They were wrong, and replay fixed it. The rule there is either 10 sec runoff or spend a TO, t simulate what would have happened if they ran a play with a running clock. The 10 sec runoff is from when knees were down, not from when he was called oob. I amagine they looked at the clock and saw 16 sec when his knee touched down, then ran off 10 sec so final play started with 6 sec. 
 

On the second play, clock never started. I guess the play was 4-5 sec, so letting the FG attemp go was the right call. 
 

They always say official time is kept by some secret referee on the field. I think it would be tough for an official to watch player for fouls and keep time, but that’s what the nfl says.

Yep. They both noted it then kind of acted like it was no big deal.  Again I just watched my grandson play football in a Junior High (7yth & 8th graders) league and not starting the clock at the snap in that situation would have been bad form.  In the NFL it's almost incomprehensible. 

 

As an aside this was more then a clock mishap given the situation.

Clock shenanigans happening again as they are known for back during their SB runs. Another classic cheat for them is to jam the visiting QB communication signals during an important drive. It was funny to hear the announcers say that New England won't be able to use theirs on the following drive, but it is a huge advantage for NE to jam the visiting teams' communications during the most important part of the game.

It took 3-4 seconds to get the snap off, as others eluded am sure the Bills defenders could have milked the extra seconds to make the tackle to prevent a FG attempt.
