Faith is one of the most misused words in human language.

What it usually is used as a stand in for if belief or hope/wish.

Faith is based on a demonstrated past practice. You pick me up everyday at 7 and we carpool to work. You’ve been doing it for years. When you drop me off at night and say , “ See you in the morning.” I have FAITH you will be there because you have demonstrated it.

Hope is wanting something to happen because you wish it to be so.
What has this coaching staff and front office demonstrated to you during the JA era that engenders Faith much less hope that they are capable of winning it all?

I, like every other mafia member,  want them to win it. But I absolutely am of VERY little faith in regards to them actually doing it.

Home run!

I think injuries are the main reason the Bills appear average from time to time.

I remember predictions in the National media of a  posible 17-0 season back in August.

So what happened between August  and December?

A ton of injuries BUT, most of the players are back now or coming back soon.

This is probably the best it’s going to get as a Bills fan. Wait until Allen retires and people will be longing for these days. I get keeping your expectations tempered, but where’s the enjoyment in just being a negative person ? Bills are 8-4 and control their playoff destiny. Allen finally has an elite running game, but now people complain about not having a WR1. When they had one (Diggs) it didn’t end up making much of a difference.

Have to respond to this post. "This is probably as best as it's going to get?" Hope you are wrong here!!! When you have arguably the best QB in the NFL it's not unreasonable to think dare to say expect at the very least a super bowl appearance. 8 years plus and the Bills haven't even sniffed it. Yet, as fans we should just what enjoy AFC titles which is likely lost this year and a playoff win or two. I guess that's seen as a successful season to many fans. Especially, when you have the memory of the drought years . To extent it's a successful season but it's also disappointing as well. Ask yourself honestly, 8 plus year into Allen's tenure; do you think at least a super bowl appearance was reasonable? Should it have happened? Why hasn't it happened? Are you satisfied with the results? Should fans just be quiet, stop complaining, appreciate the ride, be positive, and just clap along?

Is the Bills elite running game leading them to a division title or a super bowl? Is the Bills lack of WR core a contributing factor to a Bills super bowl appearance or lack of?

What are your expectations of this year? What is a successful season for you? Do you have any legitimate complaints or compliments about the team, players, coaches, scouts, GM, or owner? Are fans who complain or unhappy lesser than fans than those who clap and compliment the team and organization? Curious to hear what you have to say.

Oliver and Hoecht are out for the season and the pass rush has suffered terribly. Now, Benford is hurt too.

Who was saying 17-0 was a possibility? Come in now let's be accurate here.

Every year injuries are a major contributing factor for the Bills success or lack of. This year seems to be another where the team is hit by the injury bug. We fans often view this as an excuse for the lack of success and a hope for the following year for more success with better health/less significant injuries. It's a vicious cycle of push pull...

I don’t believe you are a Bills fan, that’s why I personally don’t appreciate your takes or opinions. They are biased. Heck I would speculate your handle is a subtle dig at Josh calling him Cam Newton.

Exactly proving my point. Feel free to dislike my posts and question my fandom. No offense taken here.

Are you a Bills fan? Are they “your team”? And if you fail to answer, you prove my point.

If the bills destroy the pats are we going to Keep saying it's a " bad roster"??? I respect Cosell but I just don't understand this narrative

Its a solid to good roster will flaws. The QB being an all timer helps but the oline is legitimate top 5. Cook is a special talent. So is Kincaid

When Bosa is healthy with Rousseau it's a good pass rush. Not the Texans but ask KC if it's good lol

The linebackers when healthy are really good

I don't get this bad roster talking point

The depth on the oline would start for some other teams for crying out loud

Nope, I will stick by my post, to many injuries all season long. If I am right the Bills will recover before the playoffs.

🤷‍♂️

I know, but it’s a discussion board and I’m discussing what is patently obvious to the objective viewer

Including Cosell.

I did listen to the interview, and I don't remember Cosell saying it was a bad roster exactly (I could be misremembering). He said it doesn't really have any elite players/difference makers in most key position groups. (QB and RB are the obvious exceptions. I would say the O-Line overall could be seen as elite, though I'm not sure any individual on the line is - maybe). So apart from Josh, it's not a Super Bowl type of team. That's not to say it's a bad team.

I fundamentally disagree they don't have difference makers. We've seen it the last two weeks

Again, if we beat the pats by 2-3 scores, is this narrative still going to hold water? Because at that point Buffalo can get to 12-5 if they just beat Cleveland and the jets

This is the whole 2023 KC narrative, or the pats in 2018, then in the playoffs they turned it on

Give us a healthy DL with Ed, Hoecht and Bosa all healthy (plus Groot and the backups) and we have a VERY formidable DL which helps every level of the defense. Add in one quality WR (with all TE’s healthy) and we are a darn good football team. We are 7-1 with Kincaid playing. Maybe Brandon Cooks is enough to fill that deep threat role for this year.

Time will tell, but I like our chances going forward.

That's what the narrative has been all season. Not enough talent. It's easy to think too considering that key personnel have been missing because of injury nearly all season. I agree with this post, though. There is talent on this team. One of the things that stand out is that even with injuries, and always having to scheme around those missing from the lineup, the Bills are still in the thick of the playoff hunt. Josh isn't the only one making plays out there, though . Players are coming up big in big moments and have been all season. Because we don't have a dominant WR getting 1200yds per season people are critical of the overall talent. Because we don't have a holy terror rushing the passer, people are critical of the overall talent. Every team has weaknesses, though. It just so happens that the Bills are weak in the areas that most critics think is key to the success of this team.

I do think the Bills are going to win this upcoming game against NE. They are now dealing with some injuries of their own. 2 starting LBs that are going to be defending against TEs and RBs could get ugly for them. They also are down a DT that was key for them defending the run. The problem for NE is that their injuries are in areas that are going to cause problems for them. I think the Bills are going to put up more points than the Pats can handle.

It's not a bad roster by no means. It does lack elite playnakers that most Super Bowl champions have.  Look at the majority of Super Bowl winners. They have a few playnakers on both sides of the ball.

The Bills roster build with a lot of depth works in the regular season. In the playoffs were most teams are close talent wise, the elite playnakers make the difference in winning and losing.

I really enjoy this commentary.

What players from our OL “depth” would start on other teams?

What teams would they start for, specifically?

If they were viewed as these significant upgrades to those teams, why have their GMs not been calling Beane offering a 4th round pick for that depth player that would start for them pre-trade deadline or during TC?

If they are offering trades for our OL depth, is Beane not accepting trades?

Would he rather have VDM or Alec Anderson than a 4th rounder next year?

Like most claims around this teams “talent,” this take falls apart with even basic scrutiny. We have some quality backups who have done decently in spot duty.

Rick Bates was another one of those dudes who was “great depth who would start for a ton of teams”. He was immediately shipped off to the Bears for a 5th rounder where he has started 2 games in the last 2 years.

How could this era be considered better than the Kelly era?

Four SBs and multiple HOFers which we all knew we were watching( in the moment, back then)

That was easily the best it has been. And, it wasn’t enough.
We as Bills fans deserve better.

Bullspit.

We're a bunch of guys sitting around on our couches and we don't "deserve" anything.

Thinking you deserve something for doing nothing is just a spoiled sense of entitlement.

with how long the NFL season is now, it might actually be better to build rosters for depth rather than focusing on the star players.
