I do think all this depth however is one one reason they won't  resign both McGovern and Edwards in the off season.  They have too many young backups on rookie contracts to take the spot.  I'm thinking only one of the two will be signed.

Who didn't know that Buffalo only chance was to  keep everyone in top block so they could run. Lucky for Buffalo Pitt was more intrested in jawing with Allen then stopping the run. 

We didn’t need to throw it when you are running it like that.

 

A back up tackle that has to go up against Watt…think about that.  If Bosa couldn’t whoop up on a back up tackle, you would criticize Bosa.

 

But Anderson was good in the run game as we ran to the right with a lot of success.

 

Pittsburgh couldn’t stop the run because we were better at attacking it.

Grable is probably their most talented backup ot and didn't even play....

 

Lots of teams season goes down the drain losing both starting tackles. Buffalo ran for 250 yds ... Against a pretty good pass rush 

They have a very porous defense especially against the run. Yet; props to OLine for taking advantage of an advantage. Throw in a few more play actions and teams are going to ha ve to deal with multiple options. Now we go up against the worst defense in the NFL. We should not allow Joe B to take a win in Hallmark!!

not me.  you guys are the loose cannons.   All of Beanes FA / draft choices signings showed out today.   Bosa, Shaq, Vandy, Ray, Cook, (who most on this board wanted gone), Benford, Cooks (on no practice) you name it.  

 

Now, I think extra rest really matters at this time of year.   Now we get Cinci and the Pats, both with significant rest advantages over the Bills who were just in a slugfest.

I think they let both walk and focus those dollars to re-sign Torrence. They like to sign the guys they draft. 

 

I think of the 2 remaining, McGovern is more likely signed than Edwards. McGovern has a bit more position flexibility, and they may want to keep the same center snapping to Josh for continuity.

Pitt’s D is not Houston’s. Luckily we could run the ball last night, it kept our D on the field an entire 18 minutes for the game.  When we can control the game and produce on the ground everything looks good.  When we can’t run we cannot depend on the pass & everything goes to $hite.

I agree I don't think they are resign both nor given the tight cap and pretty solid options waiting in the wings should they. My worry is if they let both walk. I think if they resign one they will be fine. McGovern or Edwards being back allows the team to retain continuity along the O-line while still incorporating a younger player. Both Edwards and McGovern will be 29 next season. O-line plays at or near prime level into their early 30's until around age 32/33. Locking in one of those spots for the next 3-4 years would be very good. I think with Anderson, SVPG, and Grabel you have options to swap in one new guy but having to swap out two would be hard.

I think of the two I'd sign Edwards first as McGovern has looked kind of shaky a few times and got beat clean.   I do wonder if he's playing hurt, if so then my opinion would change.  I think they may try to keep one as not sure they want so much churn on the O-line.  Dawkins also has looked a bit shaky so may be looking in 2027 to shed him so for that reason would prefer one change per year.

The o line has been the teams best position group these past three years …even with some shaky play at times this season …

 

I expect both Edwards and McGovern to be paid more elsewhere this off-season …so going to be interesting to see how Beane handles that transition ..

 

They have kept SVPG on the 53 these past 2 years even though he only plays C … keeping depth guys with no position flexibility is something they rarely do … so likely means that he is showing enough at practice that they think he will take over as the starter next season
