Josh was meant to be in Buffalo for his whole career. He has been exactly what the city and the franchise have been looking for close to 30 years. The fact that we even need to have this discussion is a sign of their malpractice. Through arrogance, or ineptitude , they have got us to this point. I think it could of worked for McDermott if Beane had done better drafting. Just never hit on enough picks and this roster have no impact elite players outside of maybe Cook. 1 1 Quote

All the stuff that people in the city have gone through forever from the loss of jobs.. all the sports heartbreak.. the blizzards.. even recently the tops massacre This is a city that prideful and tough and embraces people who are willing to embrace this place that we know doesn't have all the Glam and glitz of the rest of the world ... I'm not throwing hands with people at a bar if they had your opinion.. but I have seen fights break out because people have trashed Josh Allen People who have little money are willing to donate to Josh's causes because we love him.. the city has rallied around Josh to the point where he is The shining light of Buffalo He's literally the best thing that's happened to the city in a long time... I'm talking the actual City and region... Even Jim Kelly was not embraced as much... Josh is a superhero to all the kids at the Cancer wards and to all the kids in the city And he's the hope of all the 75 and 80 year old men who have never seen that Lombardi trophy hoisted by the bills 716….I was born and raised in Buffalo! Trust me, I know all about the place, and talk it up every chance I get. But…Jim Kelly didn’t marry a gal with a multi million dollar career in Hollywood. It’s apples and oranges. 1 Quote

Yeah and even today Josh's family always been willing to travel to Buffalo for a game. I wouldn’t. Got to much respect for Josh and what he has done in Buffalo uniform. If there is a point where he doesn’t trust the process anymore and wants to leave I wish him all the best. Edited 51 minutes ago by BananaB Quote

But who knows maybe I'm just a homer. Jack Eichel. Dominick Hasek. Marshawn Lynch. Stephon Gilmore. Or how about when Doug Flutie went to SD and slagged off the city of Buffalo and its fans as soon as his feet hit the sand. That all happened, and it left a lot of scar tissue. But every time someone brings up Josh wanting a trade to go LA, it just reminds me of when Ryan Miller married an actress and almost immediately wanted a trade to the West. Josh hasn't made a single statement to that effect, but I would have to think that this history is where these ideas are coming from. Quote

He is still in the top of the QB group in terms of mobility, but each year that will slightly change. I have zero confidence in our current coaching staff to be able to adjust a system for an Allen 2.0 version that cannot do the same stuff he does today. I can’t imagine once his escapability and scrambling fall off completely that he can reinvent himself as a pocket passer. It’s not in his nature or tool chest. The prevailing thought is we have 5-8 more years of prime Josh, but this assumes Manning/Brady level ability. Those guys never took hits and got the ball out fast so they endured. I think we have 4 years at most. After that Josh will either have to maintain his drive and reinvent himself or walk away. He’s talented, will have a ton of records, be wealthy and still young, so I think he walks. Quote

NastyNateSoldiers Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago 1 hour ago, BillsFanForever19 said: Most of this season and especially after last night, people have been calling for the firing of Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane. It's pretty clear that the coaching and the systems aren't working anymore. And that the roster is in terrible shape with no easy fixes. Both have had a number of fireable offenses. While I understand fans frustration and wanting a new regime, the question I keep coming back to is would Josh want to stick around for that? He'll be 30 years old next season. We've already wasted much of his prime. A new Coach and/or a new GM will surely want to rebuild the roster, the staff, and the systems in place in their image. This is likely to take time and the odds that they'll come in and get back to where they were immediately while rebuilding is unlikely. It will probably take a couple off seasons. And there's no guarantee whomever we bring in will actually improve things. My concern is that at Josh's age and with the clock ticking on his prime that he would rather ask for a Trade to a team that has a roster in place and a good coach and GM in place than waste time and roll the dice on a rebuild under unknowns. There's no easy answer as it's pretty clear that Sean isn't the answer and Brandon has mismanaged the cap and roster. So a lot of things are going to have to be done after this season. But I worry Josh won't want to stick around for a total blow up. I think it might be time to trade Josh I really think he was a steep decline coming ala Russ or Newton style fall off a cliff decline. If we can get a dumb organization to jump on him for 4 firsts I hate to say this and believe me really hate it but maybe u have to Trade him. 1 1 Quote
oldmanfan Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago (edited) We are not rebuilding anything. We might retool a bit and have younger guys step in but we are not doing a total rebuild. The one position they need to throw assets at is WR. Otherwise the O line have guys like Anderson and Grabld ready to step in, we’re fine at TE, RB and obviously QB. Anyone saying trade Josh is nuts. On defense we need to let a lot of old guys go. On the line Jones goes, but you have Oliver, Rousseau, Maybe Bosa back, Walker, Sanders, Hoechst when he recovers. At LB we need to play Williams more and need to add another guy, and for DBs you’ll have Benford and Hairston at CB, maybe Lewis at nickel, and Hancock and Bishop at safety. Upgrade the WR room, add other guys here and there, and perhaps get better coaching especially in the D side and you’re fine. Edited 32 minutes ago by oldmanfan Quote

Not tear it all down What are going to be the tweaks we have very little pass rush we are worst in stopping the run our LBs are pathetic our DBs are below average money is stuck in all of them and cannot be easily moved. Groot, Benford, Bernard, Johnson We need replacements in 2026 for the following as they are FA Ogunjobie, Bosa, Milano, White, Epensa, Jones, Porter, Shaq. your draft picks have not panned out - Anderson, Solomon, both Hoecht and Oliver will be coming from serious injuries. Who know how their rehab will go or if they will be back in their prime. they say typically you have a 30% roster turnover. But this is disaster this is just the defense. Quote
Shortchaz Posted 20 minutes ago Posted 20 minutes ago I’m no expert, the fix this team may need is an A+ coordinator (preferably 2) and McDermott ceding some control to one of them as assistant head coach. McDermott has the right work ethic but probably the wrong on-the-field-football philosophy. obviously an oversimplification, but dude plateaued years ago and needs to improve. Quote
