After Greg Rousseau’s 3 sack game against the Cardinals in the 2024 opener, he has played a total of 26 regular season games. In those games he has a total of 8 sacks, with only 6 of those being unassisted. He has 88 total tackles since the beginning of 2024. Last season he had 15 “stuff” tackles which are in the backfield. This year he only has 3 of those.

This guy is literally become the invisible

man of the defense and it has been going on for almost 2 full seasons. The bad part is they just signed this slug to a big contract and we are stuck with him.

On a day where a lot of people are taking deserved heat, Rousseau seems to be a forgotten man. He shouldn’t be. He IS a huge part of the problem on that side of the ball.

maybe one of the reporters can flat out ask McDermott about his lack of production. I’d like to hear an honest answer from the coach.

He’s hurting us at BOTH end positions because we can’t even think to rest Bosa with his injury due to Rousseau being a compete non-factor rushing the passer.

I agree and no one can use the “but he sets the edge on runs so well” excuse either-the run defense is TERRIBLE!

I notice Bosa out there, at times Epenesa is visible on the screen…I never notice Groot out there any more

I believe teams are running away from Rousseau because the interior DL is getting blown off the ball and Bosa has struggled all year to set the edge on runs. Rousseau has actually saved quite a few runs from being explosive plays because he crashed down on the backside and stopped it for a 1 or 2 yard gain when it likely would have gone for a house call.

I don't know that Rousseau is ever going to be a double digit sack guy, but his run defense is very good.

He's a decent player, but I was against re-signing him. I was also against re-signing Oliver. Our pass rush and run defense haven't been good, so why bring back players who have contributed to that?

I've defended him ad nauseum on here constantly.

The Texans oline was trash and Bosa is probably not 💯.

Rousseau completely disappeared

So yeah cook me

I'm not defending these guys anymore

Everything yesterday was clearly known. The Texans season was on the line. They were going to play a nasty physical grind it out desperate game and we needed to match that Mentally and physically. We aren't tough enough, more so mentally and it's why we're not champions. It's all a reflection of the coach

We didn't do it. And that's so much of this organizations problem which goes back to even the super bowl years ironically

Anytime we gotta get into a proverbial street fight, they get out coached, out schemed, not tough enough, we play scared, and it's just tiresome.

The one guy who is the opposite is Allen because when it was the biggest moment, he answered it. Tired of the other losers on this team

And yes you can call Rousseau a loser too

Last night was such a disappointment on so many levels

Teams are supposed to pay top dollar for sacks. Groot has been an elite run defender. But the current defensive unit as a whole is atrocious against the run. So he's not helping there.

Long story short, we paid "Batman" level money for Robin.

I never really understood the hype around him. I just went along with everyone here. Guy is usually invisible when I watch

If you think he's invisible, it isn't because he's playing poorly, it's because you can't see what he's doing.

For gawd's sake, he led the team in tackles last night from the DE position, with 1-2 for a loss, and single-handedly blew up a key 3rd down that literally changed the scoreboard and gave the Bills a chance to win the game.

This isn't what we are doing today, mate. Don't use actual facts to dispute that anyone is worth a salt on this team. We are crucifying everyone be it fact or fiction.

Agree. I was not a fan of the resigning. He was supposed to be our “elite”pass rusher,  but he’s not it. He’s mostly invisible out there.  Houston has a terrible oline.  Pretty sad that we didn’t get one sack.

We didn’t pay him to just be a tackler,  we paid him to get to the QB but he’s not good at it.

He's not a game-changing pass rusher, but he isn't paid like one, and those don't typically last until his draft slot, either.  Run defense isn't a one-man show, and he is extremely effective at his 1/11th.  He renewed this year and is the 15th-highest paid DE, and will probably be down to ~30th or so after the next wave of extensions.

No, we didn't.  The guys paid to get to the QB make literally double what he does.

This feels like the Edmunds conversation, except we never paid him.

“You just don’t see what he’s doing out there”

You make fair points, but you should feel a guy making the money he’s set to make, week in/week out.   It shouldn’t be where we have to dig deeper to see his true value on a Defense that is absolutely terrible.

I feel Cole Bishop out there.  I felt Bosa out there before his hand injury, and even with it, he’s the only guy even getting close to the QB right now.

Rousseau is in this Edmunds category where we need to dissect the tape to see any impact he’s having.

We’re paying Rousseau and Bosa essentially combined what Danielle Hunter is making on his extension.

Maybe we just need one Danielle Hunter and not two B level guys.  Seems like this example can be applied all over our roster.

There's no digging deep or any need to go to the film room; it's right there on your TV screen every week if you're paying attention.

He's nothing like Edmunds.

Frankly, in hindsight we probably should have paid Edmunds.  We are noticeably worse vs. passes to the middle of the field since he left.  Bernard had a great 2023 but has struggled since.

Do you think it makes sense to pay a Robin who sets the EDGE and is primarily a run defender before you find a legit pass rusher?

We let Edmunds walk because he never made splash plays, was going to get paid, but the argument was he alters the way opponents attack us in the pass game.

If the FO couldn’t justify paying big money for that then how do they justify paying big money for a Robin DE who primarily functions as a plus run defender?

For gawd sake where the hell was he when Davis Mills dropped back to pass last night? Or where the hell has he been when any QB is dropping back to pass?

Leading the team in tackles last night. Whoopie. He had 6 total tackles and one of them was for a loss where he was credited with half a tackle.

No, it’s not me and most others.

It’s you that can’t see he’s a big issue. Especially with the enormous contract he has.
