Clearly, designing a top passing scheme is not his strength. Like I mentioned a Greg Roman clone. So an offense that Mcdermott wants to complement the defense Quote

You don’t get to see what the QB is looking at. Being at the game, you can. I was there. Where is what I saw: 1) It is tough to describe in words (because people think you’re exaggerating when you’re not) how covered our receiving options were. Texans players were step for step locked in on our receiving options. There were entire series where I don’t think our receivers had an INCH of separation. 2) Allen was watching this unfold and has NO WHERE to throw to 99% of the game, and to make matters worse, he was being pressured non-stop. 28 total pressures, I believe was the final number. 3) What does superman do when he is being pressured and his receivers can’t get open in a normal (or expedited) amount of time? He scrambles to buy them more time to get open. But by doing so, he gets sacked - deep. Fans who don’t understand what is happening yell “just throw the ball away!” not realizing that this option simply makes it a punt on 4th and 7 instead of a punt on 4th and 20. It also means you don’t have any super hero plays, like his 3rd and 12 scramble. At one point in the game the Texans fans next to us said “there is nothing he can do” … they were right. 4) Brady, for most of the game, kept calling deep crossers, option routes, and traffic beaters. I was pulling my hair out because Allen didn’t have enough time as it was, and Brady had receivers running routes that take 3-5 seconds. On the last 2 drives he finally connected a few neurons and reverted to a shorter route tree and exploited what Houston wasn’t covering (the flats and quick hitters). Magically the offense starting moving the ball. 5) Last thing: I think defenses have figured out Brady’s progression scheme. They seem to be leaving coverage after Allen checks off an option in his progression. This sometimes makes an option look open but Allen is no longer looking at them so it doesn’t matter. You will see this when the ALL-22 comes out. It was very frustrating. I assumed this was the case as JA knows how to get rid of the ball. It’s so frustrating that we can’t buy separation. I thought maybe no Coleman would mean some progress, but nope. I blame Beane a heck of a lot more than McD and agree Brady is too predictable. Quote

They barely won scoring 16 against an awful Tennessee team last week. FWIW I obviously agree with you, I want more out of this offense. I just don't know what anyone expects. We intentionally hired a green OC who happened to already be in the building and we've surrounded Allen with JAGs. Why is anyone expecting us to score more than 20 on the road on TNF against an elite defense? That was never going to be the winning game script for this one. If we wanted that to be the game script we needed to approach the offseason spending in the complete opposite direction. Bingo this was me though I'll own it. . I thought after what we saw last week the Bills indeed would find a way to score more than 20 and win this game against a backup QB.. well now we are awoken from THAT fantasy and brought down to earth and reality . Out team is becoming a mash unit of injuries. Yet still could have won it. I will vote that Joe Brady needs to go. Im done with him as OC I'm Frustrated today Quote

vincec Posted 51 minutes ago Posted 51 minutes ago (edited) Actually moved the ball ok given that the WRs were always covered and there was constant pressure on the QB. If the worthless special teams had helped them with some better drive starts then they would definitely have had more points. I know they had the TD return, but other that that it was a nightmare of bad decisions, penalties, and errors. It seemed like the Bills started every drive at their own 10 while the Texans were near midfield. Edited 50 minutes ago by vincec 1 Quote

CSBill Posted 48 minutes ago Posted 48 minutes ago All the angst, all the blaming Brady, McD, and Beane, all the bad defense (what was that right before the end of the half?, etc., etc. But what really lost the game (and 3 of the losses this year): TURNOVERS! Win that battle, and we win the game. We gave them 6 points and got nothing in return. Why did we win 13 games last year? We did not turn the ball over. Why do we have 4 losses this year--8 turnovers in those games? It's not that complicated: Protect the Ball! Quote

A unit that was almost completely phased out for safety reasons years ago and barely matters. We are the only team in the league that still is obsessed with special teams. Listen to wgr. The shills can’t go 5 minutes on the pregame without mention what a guy gives you on teams. Chris Brown and Sal bring it up constantly. All that to turn around and be terrible at it every single year. Special teams is the unit for the guys not good enough to play real positions. You literally don’t even have to catch a punt ever and it won’t hurt you but we still can’t get this ***** right. Quote

Nihilarian Posted 37 minutes ago Posted 37 minutes ago (edited) From the mouth, McDermott added, “I believe in our offensive staff,” but it’s clear that the offensive scheme needs to get better. Right now, the whole Bills’ offense revolves around expecting Allen to make plays, even when he’s under relentless pressure. That’s not a winning formula. “They had 12 hits on Josh, eight sacks. That’s not a healthy formula right there,” McDermott said. “It’s not a healthy way to play or a healthy way to keep our quarterback healthy through the remainder of the season.” https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/sean-mcdermott-josh-allen-takes-too-many-hits-weve-got-to-figure-that-out You know, back in the day, QB Dan Marino was the guy that most other QBs envied because of his quick release and precision passes. Although the Buffalo Bills had his number because of his tendencies. Because of that, they knew if it was going to be a pass or run, and once they knew the signals, they also knew the play. A big reason why he didn't get past the Buffalo Bills very often. This season's Bills offense reminds me of that, and if crappy teams like Miami and Atlanta have figured it out. If Buffalo had an OC who knew what he was doing, the Buffalo Bills might be undefeated right now. Never did I think that an OC could turn our Superman back into Clark Kent. This jackass of an OC did just that in front of the world! Edited 33 minutes ago by Nihilarian Quote

They mostly just stay still or move only slightly. I don’t get it. They don’t come back toward the ball, or try to shake their defender. Actually Shakir did a little, but everyone else? Just … statues for the most part. After last week, I was disappointed to not see much of Gabe Davis. Also, did Shavers even have any snaps on offense? Instead we get worthless Elijah Moore. Quote

And Allen threw the ball to Palmer, double covered not even 5 yards of Knox. Whatever Brady had screwed up the rest of the game...that play was on Allen. Quote
