So I'm going to assume you wouldn't want to kick back to them because you don't have faith in the defense to stop them from scoring? So it would in effect be a 9 point swing rather than just a 2 point on the safety and making a stop on defense. Would that be correct? With this defense, I'm not saying it's wrong. They very well may have given up a longer TD drive.

But, the outcome now is already known. The defense shut it down and only gave up a FG. But in the moment, all outcomes were possible. That easily could have been a pick 6. They easily could have (and probably should have) converted that into a TD. With the variance of the outcome unknown and without the benefit of using hindsight, it was an incredibly stupid and wreckless play on Josh's part.

All we can say at this point, post facto, is that it was the best move because of the way it worked out.

Sure, ideally, we dont throw any picks, or take any safeties. But here we are.

It worked out in our favor as much as it could have.

And I'd rather live and die with the full "Josh Allen Experience" over neutered Josh who has to protect the Defense while carrying the offense.

The rest of this season needs to be Josh in Thanos mode. Just go do everything and anything yourself. Go make plays. He will make some mistakes along the way but “game manager Josh” isn’t going to get it done despite how badly this regime wants that. If the Bills are ever going to win a Super Bowl it’s because their QB is the best player in the world. It’s not going to be because they controlled the clock with the run game and played solid defense. 🤣🤣

Yesterday was yet another example (if you seriously needed one) that we will win with Josh and it will be despite the coaches, both Brady and McD. Brady was better at times yesterday but as the OP states, the game plan on offense has been erratic this season. What's also happened in the losses this season and even yesterday is that McD and Babbich take forever to get their sht together on defense. Sure the talent isnt there, we are fielding some old and slow players and several key players are injured but put the people we have into a better position to win. Over and over again we are getting gashed on the run and there was no answer. In fact it was because we kept scoring on offense that the Bucs finally abandoned the run because they were running out of time, no because of McD's adjustments. There didnt seem to be a spy on Mayfield at the start. I think this might have been corrected later on but why not? Pass rush was going nowhere at the start as well and then eventually getting through. The Blitzes we do are just too predictable.

Imagine if we had a solid innovative defense that confused teams and crushed their spirit early or a took the shackles off Josh on offense. We would be killing these teams and easily the #1 seed.

i hear you. To me, it depends on the opponent. The slower pace is how we beat the ravens in the playoffs last year. Keep Lamar and Henry off the field, get a few turnovers, and hang onto win.

I think it’s our best shot in the playoffs. Unfortunately, it’s wasting Josh— but it does protect our leaky defense.

The difference is this year our run defense is completely shot. Playing close games where the other team can run is a recipe for disaster. I feel it’s time to let it rip and put Josh and co together with our pass defense, which is far better.

Our gameplan today was to pass once we saw how crowded Bowles had the LOS. He wanted to take Cook and the WR screen out of our playbook and see if Josh still had enough to beat up his poor secondary, which he did.

Josh also looked great running the ball yesterday for the first time in awhile. Decisive and potent, and it broke their defense by the 4th qtr.

I think this is a point many people are missing.  Yes, Josh. Was amazing.  He threw downfield and WRs were open.   BUT. A lot of that was because the Bucs loaded the LOS to stop Cook and the short WR passes.  And they did.

The difference in this game vs others… Josh (or Brady) realized it and opened the offense up.  That’s all they need to do… take what the defense gives them.   In this game it was WR medium to long passes; in other games it will be running the ball.   Do what it takes to win.. and stop trying to impose your will.

The only way our D succeeds is if our O plays a slower, TOP, ball control game with no turnovers and gets out in front a little.

If we play on offense like we did yesterday, every game is going to be a barn burner.

The defense is high-variance defense that overly relies on plays for losses and turnovers. Yet they try to pair with a low-variance offense that tries to shorten the game, and possess the ball over explosive plays.

This is not complementary football, is it?

The run D is so atrocious that Sean may finally have to abandon his conservative mandate on offense that handcuffs Josh in the name of protecting his defense. The only way forward might be to unleash Josh, score fast, and force teams out of their run-heavy scripts.

And Hurts and Goff didn't exactly light it up in their game either.  Of course Collnsworth kept talking about the WIND in Philly.  Oh wait, was it windy in Orchard Park yesterday? And Darnold was channeling good old Nathan Peterman with 4 INT's.

It was wild how much they were blaming the windy conditions for the offensive ineptitude in Philadelphia last night. Meanwhile, it was crazy windy in WNY yesterday and yet Josh is airing the ball over the place and the wind is barely discussed.

Exactly this. By the end of the game, Tampa Bay is no longer willing to crowd up close to the LOS and the running game started to find lanes again.

Good. I would rather trust the offense to win a shootout than trust the defense to win a low scoring slobberknocker. The entire team building strategy from the offseason additions to the weekly gameplans should be about putting Allen in position to score 40 PPG. The defense sucked yesterday and it didn't matter. Our offense made them irrelevant.

Great point. Stop trying to impose your will or force certain players the ball. Take what the D is offering--when it's downfield passing, we got JOSH ALLEN.

I think our odds of winning in the playoffs is better playing how we did against KC, as opposed to how we played against TB.

People’s perceptions are skewed because TB pass defense isn’t great. Curtis Samuel isn’t making toe tapping catches on 3rd and long against KC.

We've tried ball control the last two KC playoff matchups. The strategy fails because KC's offense has their way with us and then our offense inevitably has to open it up anyways, and it's hard to change up your whole offense like that in the middle of a game. Might as well just open it up from the start so they're ready to score on every possession in the 2nd half... Yesterday wasn't always pretty especially early on but Allen got loosened up and was throwing rockets and dimes the entire 2nd half. Score 40 and you'll win almost every game.

Agreed in philosophy. The only problem is, with the way our run D performs, the fastest way for opponents to score is to run it outside and take it 45 yards to the house on a single play!  :bag:
