Length of season does lessen the salary cap hit, but guys going to IR has no effect whatsoever.  This isn't the NHL where you can bury salary by putting guys on LTIR.  For instance, Hoeght's salary cap isn't reduced at all by him going to IR

Honestly, this is my thought too. We don't really need another DT, we need a moveable piece. Someone that can play all over. Maybe a guy like Isaiah Simmons?

It "might" be.

 

If his contract has per game roster bonus, the Bills are off the hook for that portion of his pay. Just depends on the verbage.

Agreed.  I’d think about getting 2.  Dre’mont Jones and maybe a guy like Judon if you’re not gonna get anything from Jackson this year.

He’s not the same player he was in the past and his name is probably bigger than his ability at this point.  Maybe they can get him for a 7th

Hoecht is good, but lots of guys in NFK that can fill that role.  

 

Lets see what Beane does.  WR, interior pass rush are biggest needs.

Alex Wright of the Browns isn't a "name" but has good PFF numbers and could be an Edge option.

That’s why the 4D chess move here may be to unload Bosa for a second when his stock is peaking.

Why? We were so stacked there that we couldn't find room for our 3rd Round Pick to dress. Bosa's on fire, Groot has picked up steam, and Epenesa's been very good this year off the bench. Now we can also dress Jackson. 

 

We went the whole season save for 1 and a half games with the same Edge room. Edge wasn't remotely the problem for us. 

 

We need a DT *way* more than we need an Edge.

That wasn't really Hoecht's role. He's the Lorax they've been looking for, so without him they're just relegated to being who they've been without Lorax these past years.

I’d take a shot. We’re down our two most significant interior pass rushers. Pushing the pocket up the middle is so important these days with as quick as these guys are with getting the ball out.

With Hoecht, this defense sacked Carolina 7 times and pressured Mahomes far more than they ever had in any of the matchups. They whipped that KC OL all game. He’s a big loss, the drop off to Solomon was noticeable. I don’t know what you do, but without him the pressure won’t be the same.
 

At least Hairston and Bishop are showing well on the backend. Any defensive package that has White, Lewis, or Ingram on the field over our first round pick needs to be rethought.
