I was looking up some highlights of Gabe Davis yesterday to refresh my memory on his skill set.

However, I noticed something glaring while doing so. Do you guys remember this offense?

Also, I think that they activated Gabe this week to see his status before the Nov 4 trade deadline to see if they need to make a trade.

I’m hoping against hope that Brandon hasn’t slept in a week, working the phones for a WR we can afford and what current contracts can be manipulated to afford a good one. He’s the one responsible for the current dearth and only he can change this season crushing issue.

Yes, we know Gabe can ‘dance toes’ along the sideline and if paired with Shavers speed on the other side will face single coverage a lot. But we don’t have a threat of deep threats and the absence is GLARING!

Fair enough, but once teams saw Josh taking off against man and killing them and beating them deep accurately, everyone went deep shell and all that went away.

Plus Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley and John Brown are all gone.   Tough guys to replace not that resigning just a half a dozen select players (Josh, etc)  put you over the cap for the first time in 20 years.

The Pats are basically replaying the Bills script from 2020 on, cheap stars on rookie contracts allowing over priced but effective FA signings that the Bills can no longer afford (Diggs, etc).   Together with playing a  last place schedule, the Pats are the Bills circa 2018- 2019.

It’s always strange how a player can fall so quickly. Amari Cooper and Gabe Davis are 2 that come to mind. Especially Gabe Davis who is only 26 ! I really thought he would be (at the least) a role player here for a very long time.

Selfishly I’d love for Daboll to get canned and come straight back to Buffalo.

We need coordinators with head coaching experience in the worst way. Didn't Daboll try to fight McDermott and flew commercial back to Buffalo back 13 seconds? If Daboll comes back they might have to fight first.

Cooper was a top 5 draft pick. Davis was a 4th rounded had a great game against a depleted secondary. If Buffalo had half the injuries KC had, we’d still be bitching about that.

I think one of your points here is underestimated... one I think we all knew would come to pass ... the Josh running threat has gone from Red to yellow... and I think teams are protecting against it less... the threat of him to run I think caused fits for D... Josh was always going to have to figure out a way to produce with this diminished threat...  I remember Elway... guy literally had to careers.. the Running Man... and the thinking man... took a bit actually for him to settle in to the new role..

We should have hired Josh McDanial instead of Brady. I understand Brady did a good job in relief of Dorsey but if he had succes he is eventually gonna get an HC job and leave. McDanials isn’t ever getting an HC job again

I still think he’s just smarter about taking hits in the regular season tbh. If he’s got a lane to get a decent chunk of yardage and slide he’ll take it. Or if the game is going poorly and we’re in danger of losing.  Our two losses he had 6 carries for 42 yds and 9 carries for 53 yds..  average of those two is 47.5 rushing yards per game and a whole season of that is over 800 rushing yards.  Even with this new philosophy of minimizing injury risk he’s still on pace for his average season rushing yardage total

So I think when I said run, I meant designed run... he seems to be under a bit more duress this year and scrambling.. BUT that is just to my eye, I have not actually gone to a break down to see if this is actually so...  I really do not see at all as many designed runs and that is what I was deferring too...  I do think they still spy him when he drops back... that said... he is much better at avoiding hits for sure where I think before he seeked contact... I also think he feels the trailing pressure sooner and gets down...

Kind of funny how that narrative started a few years ago.   Apparently no OC in the NFL knows how to beat it either.  Its full proof.

It's also funny looking at the formations from back then.  They are almost identical to what Brady is currently doing.   Daboll just used more motion, had multiple outcomes for the same look, and had better personnel.

The good old days.  It helps when you have Diggs out there and an OC who can scheme receivers open.  It seemed a lot easier back then

I'll be honest, I think Allen, especially after last seasons injury in week 1, has dialed down runs during the regular season.

Allen will turn it up when the games matter.  As in, win or go home matter.  He wants to escape the pocket now, but you can tell he is trying to throw at all costs instead of going through a corner or running around a DE.

That will change when we get to January, 100%
