Mahomes had had them (and guess what the Chiefs offense looks poorer when he does), Burrow seems to start every year like trash then magically wake up later, it's just really hard to be at the top of your game every single game in the NFL through multiple seasons. I don't think the oline has been as good in pass pro this year as the last two, I think the receiver issues are pretty well understood and Josh isn't as confident in things around him as once he was and it's just affected him a bit. I don't think it is like the end of 2022 and start of 2023 when his previous relationship was exploding and it was pretty clear to anyone who listened to him and watched him that at times Josh's mind was cluttered. This just looks and feels to me like a normal little period of middling form. No panic. At some point we will get the elite version of Josh and he will click into top gear. I have no doubts. His throws have looked odd to me all year. Like someone who is trying to change something. Quote
Turbo44 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I think Josh has the worst WR group in the league. McConkey instead of Coleman was idiotic - i said that pre-draft, I said that post draft and it's obvious now. A guy with 4.6 speed and can't get separation in college is waste of pick 33. Beane whiffed big time and wastes valuable money on mid-level talent. Two things i don't like about Josh's game right now if his accuracy is lacking (case in point throw to Moore) and he has happy feet. He's leaving a clean pocket way too early often which eliminates 1/2 to 2/3rds of the field. 1 Quote
Shortchaz Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) As good as josh is, he doesn’t throw a receiver friendly ball. He puts almost no loft on the ball, nor does he often throw a receiver open. His biggest impact is made by picking up first downs with his legs and fitting balls into tight spaces. all time great athlete and leader but flawed pure passer. Edited 4 hours ago by Shortchaz Quote

mjt328 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Everybody eats is a good general team-first philosophy for the coaching staff and the players. It’s not a good philosophy for the GM. I don’t like forcing passes to pouty diva WRs who complain about not getting the ball enough, and throw the QB under the bus when things aren’t going their way. Good strategy is just throwing the ball to whoever is open. The problem is when you get into key passing situations, and nobody CAN get open downfield. Quote
DuckyBoys Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago We run a heavy run low risk passing offense When plays break down Josh used to always try and make a play Seems they took most of that away Long gone is the 2020 pass heavy chuck it all over the field. It's the 2017 Tyrod Taylor offense with a better more consistent run game thanks to teams fearing Josh Quote
Brand J Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If I was an opposing DC, I’d play the Bills with a single high safety, 8 players in the box, and plan for passes 15 yards and in. Basically I’d dare them to beat me deep. Allen’s deep pass isn’t great and the Bills receivers aren’t targeted downfield. I’d take the running game away as well as those short passes and dare the Bills to create explosive plays. Quote
JustHewIt Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Josh has a 108 rating with no turnovers and we win by 30+: "Why are Josh's screens messing up his game? Can't he just throw it normal?" Good lord. 2 Quote

entropyrules Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago just got back to Durham from the game and Allen has somehow slipped from last year. there were at least three times where he had wide open receivers who he either didn't see or comply missed badly; plus he forced several passes in tight coverage. He did have a nice scramble throw- i think it went to Kincaid-i was at the other end zone so could see the replay but didn't catch who the receiver was. but it's simply my uneducated opinion that he doesn't seem to have the same awareness as he had last year. Still a great win - thanks Cook. Quote
DrMaxPower Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago There are a bunch of coinciding issues. I hate the structure of the passing game. Our route combinations rarely create leverage or conflict or rubs. Bad idea with a group that is below average getting open. We rarely attack the intermediate areas, which are Josh's bread and butter. The offense is also super predictable, unless you include stupid gadgets on 3rd downs. The oline has taken a step back. Pass pro has dropped from top 3 to more like 10-12. Brown and Dawkins have really dropped off after career years. Below average talent at receiver. Coleman can't be trusted and their usage of Moore and Samuel is obvious. We aren't good here but there should be enough to be functional. Josh isn't playing as well this year. He just isn't. Some really iffy decision making at times. Sloppy with the ball, feeling pressure early and, I think the biggest issue, is not playing on schedule. This is something he's never been great at but has declined IMO. He often fails to pull the trigger on time, creating some of the 'separation' issues himself. He needs to do a better job of processing his reads and getting the ball out on time, as the reciever makes his break. Quote
