If we wanted him so much why didn't we trade up to get him? Also as good as McDuffie been in the slot would he have had playing time here behind Taron?

I think if he's a good enough player, which I think he is he would have found the field

I think when he is activated he will see the field. Secondary play has been rough.  Having some juice in the room will be refreshing.

He'll see the field. I never questioned that. But they aren't going to put a ton on his plate that first week. He'll be cycled in on a small number of plays. They'll ramp him up over the next couple weeks if he looks like he's taking to things well. But he's not moving Tre to the bench full time for a good number of weeks.

The guy is a first round pick with blazing speed.  Something most of us have not seen on the field at CB for the Bills since Leodis McKelvin or maybe even Nate Clements.  The fact that we are starting Tre White at CB, let alone that he was ever brought back on the roster is a scathing indictment of the organization.

Do you watch the other NFL teams?  No team has aging veterans (who can't run a lick) starting on their back end.  If anything, when they have a bunch of injuries, most teams play a lot of young guys like the Lions and the 49ers did over the past two nights.  And both teams did quite well because the players all understand the scheme, which I would assume they keep simple to allow the players' athleticism to take over, and our coached up during the week, and throughout the season.

If Hairston is physically ready to play, and his head is in the game, he needs to be on the field.

Can you name me a team that takes a Rookie who's never played a down in the NFL, coming off of a Knee injury, missed half of Training Camp, all of the Pre-Season, hasn't practiced with the team in any way since July, and then threw them in the fire and started them at Cornerback immediately?

He will see the field when he's ready. That's not a question. But he's going to need a couple weeks of practicing with the team and gelling with the guys around him and getting his assignments down before that happens. And when it happens, they aren't just taking White on the field. He'll have to be eased in to get his feet underneath him, going up against other teams. It's going to be a multi week ramping up and easing in process.

I get being mortified by Tre and being eager to get Hairston in there. But you can't expect a Rookie coming off a knee injury to be immediately activated and immediately started bc of that. He has to show he's ready. Forcing a Rookie into a tough situation before they're ready, that's how you ruin a player.

You and this post is a prime example of why McDermott always stresses "managing expectations" every time Hairston is brought up by the media. They aren't going to change their development plan with him out of fan impatience or bc Tre is sucking. Hairston was going to get the same ease in process had he not gotten hurt. His getting hurt won't change things and make them push him harder now. Things just got pushed back.

If all goes well, I'd expect Hairston to start by Week 11 or Week 12.
