Im trying to think back to LY, and I we played any pass defenses like this years schedule so far?

Just seems every week is a legit #1 CB/shutdown type that we are going against.

Ravens: Humphrey albeit best in slot.  No surprise we did have some success throwing outside against them

Jets: Sauce,  top 5 type any given sunday

Phins: should've lit them up more, but we had some very nice drives and stuck to run too long

Saints: moderate success, this is when concern started IMO

Pats: Gonzalez is a top 5 type any given Sunday.  Also Carlton Davis, who is no slouch either

Falcons: Terrell, top 10 type - his length and physical play is difficult

Panthers: Horn is a top 5 corner IMO, hes really played well this season

Chiefs (upcoming): McDuffie is used all over, hes a top 5 corner overall (slot/boundary) but his length isnt ideal, you can only beat him with precise ball placement/bigger wrs

Not saying its an excuse, but should be considered that weve literally faced 3 top 5 corner types already - and McDuffie this week.

I think biggest issue, we are absolutely not built to be converting 3rd and 8+ this year.  Man under 2 deep, is what we constantly face.  We have to stay in 3rd and 4 or less,  keep threat of run alive.  Means avoiding dumb penalties, dominating at OL.  That's where we are built to win, up front and using our TEs.  We did alot better this weekend getting chunks in run game.

Im not sure why we dont use more stretch/bootleg right now.  We have the ability to use this.succwssfully.

would love a gameplan this week of targeting mcduffie with coleman. this is why they have him. also chiefs probably would not be expecting it.

I didn’t hear.  What was your takeaway?

Stated he doesn’t have any concerns about the passing game.

Brought up Week 1, down big in the 4th to Baltimore as evidence of being able to throw downfield when we need to.

Talked about Keon Coleman doing the right things and highlighted how he’s improved his run blocking (because apparently that’s our obsessive focus now).

Just seems like he’s fixated on the run game and I’m not even sure he’d use a WR upgrade if he we got him one at this point.

Just a very nonchalant presser that kept reiterating that the run game is the focus and our passing game is fine.

I never thought I would say this:

The chiefs are actually going to come to this game to stop James Cook and dare Allen to throw the ball downfield.   This would be the first time, they pay more attention a player not named Josh Allen.   This would be the game for Josh to raise above the mediocrity of the past three weeks.

The biggest thing this passing game is missing is the rhythm....Too often they are punting the ball away on a 3-and-out.  They need to build some rhythm starting with 5 yard passes and then looking for 10-15 yarders before looking for the deep hits. They need to move the chains and keep Mahomes on the sidelines as much as possible.

That’s all they throw is short passes until they are backed up.

He shares blame for the WR’s imo. He brought the “everybody eats” mentality that Beane ran with.

'Everybody eats', is what you call 'marketing', for a so-so product.

This is absolutely how I’d play the Bills if I was Spagnuolo. Right now the best player on offense is James Cook, he’s the one who makes it go. If I was Spags I’d take Cook away, along with the horizontal/close to the LoS passes and force the Bills to hit on explosive plays. Something they haven’t shown they can do in quite some time.

Get the Bills to third down and they take Cook out of the game themselves. 😂

The Bills are currently 4th in points per game, 3rd in yards per game, and 4th in points per drive. The rushing game is 1st in yards, 2nd in TDs, and 3rd in ypc. Allen has his second best qb rating of all time (after 2020) and is on pace for 41 total TDs. There is a huge problem at the boundary receiver position that has to be dealt with, but the last 1.5 seasons may be the best coordinated o-line game in franchise history. Brady has flaws, but he absolutely has strengths.

i gave brady stick for the middle 4 games, including the 2 losses, because he is stubborn and arrogant and doesn't self scout and kind of just called madden type plays, but ya we have to take the full account.

allen doesn't like under c vs shotgun, but does better in it, so he can be uncomfortable while we win.  brady just needs to be deeper in his bag wrt not being predictable.  we had two awful driven ending mistakes vs carolina (first two) and still destroyed them (in 40 mins, that was insane).  i think aside from the d crushing them, it was the o with brady dialing up a near 5050 blend of pass and run and carolina still has no idea what play is coming next.

Brady’s press conference was a joke.

I paraphrase-

“our passing office is fine.  There is nothing wrong with it.”

”we didn’t pass better because we didn’t have to.  We were running the ball well”.

anyone with working eye sight and half a brain could tell you the Bills passing game is not fine.  Brady is delusional and/or a liar

My faith in the front office, Brady and the offense as a whole is at an all-time low after that presser.

I fear that history's debate between which two teams with elite QBs massively wasted their careers will be between River's Chargers and Allen's Bills.

It's just criminal at this point.

Haha, relax.  An honest assessment of the Carolina game tape would've meant being critical of Josh Allen's poor execution on many plays and dragging Beane for the lack of boundary WR talent.  For the most part, coaches need to avoid criticizing others in press conferences.  I guess you want Brady to say, "I suck" but that was never going to happen when the team scored 40 points off an excellent run game scheme.

Nobody loathes McDermott more than me, but the one good thing he and his coaching staff does is blowing the media off with non-answers or unreal answers.

If there are problems, you take care of it in private.  Media are scum.

Don't forget the Dolphins with Marino.

I wouldn't mind Josh executing a boring Dink-and-Dunk offense that keeps Mahomes off the field.

He is right in the sense that the offense passed 19 times...and Allen completed 12 of them (63% completion).  There was one big play for 55 yards with Shakir taking it to the house.

Off the 7 incompletions

* 1st drive -  2 incompletions (Kincaid, Davis) and a sack

* 2nd drive - 3 incompletions (Kincaid, Coleman, Moore) and a sack

* 4th drive -  2 incompletions (Moore, Shakir)

And he did not play in the 4th quarter...

I guess we were looking for a 250 yard day for Allen...but it was not going to be there with those short passes and the lack of rhythm

Like Joe Marino said- if you just looked at the stats, Josh had a good game- 9th overall statistically.  But Josh missed open WRs, WRs had trouble getting separation, Josh had happy feet, bailing on clean pockets ,  average depth of pass was.75 yards.

Bills passing offense has been broken since the Saints.  Pats and Falcons passing game was broke.

We have watched enough Josh, that we can tell if something is even a little bit off.

I've watched this one a couple times now

tbh I think Allen could have flipped his hips and thrown at the very last second (like 5-6 frames from this one) but it's not an easy play by any means and you should be able to pick up 2 yards in a way more simple manner

I agree though some don't... regardless Ty Johnson drifted too far downfield. I thought he showed poor feel/instincts on that play.

Right now, our passing game specialist is Marc Lubick.  I know little about the guy, but I wonder if we can upgrade him.  Or complement him with another young passing game sensei or maybe an Assistant OC who excels at Xs and Os.  Whatever the case, Brady needs to build a team of smart offensive coaches who collaboratively scheme and problem-solve at such a high level that no opponent can stop our Superman-driven offense.

So, yes, I agree the main problem of our offense is Beane, not Brady, but I still want more from Brady.  The last two weeks of offensive turds isn't all on Brandon.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.  Brady didn't make much lemonade in the Pats and Falcons games.

1) 9th season with the Bills

2) 2nd as Passing Game Coordinator

3) Son of longtime Colorado State Head Coach Sonny Lubick

4) Brother is Co-Offensive Coordinator at Kansas

5) Played Safety at Montana State in the 90s

6) Has been an Assistant Wide Receivers Coach at Houston (Andre Johnson) and at Denver (Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Eric Decker)

I feel like life gave Brady the best lemon (Josh) and Brady/McD want  make the best orange juice they can with Cook. They have the MVP and they choose to focus the team around the running back and defense.

There are countless examples of offenses that featured both the QB and RB. It shouldn't be an either/or.
