Looking back at all the offseason moves to support this team the past three years is a lot more eye opening than I expected.  I went and bolded all the players who are contributing this season in a meaningful way, it's a scary sight.  On draft classes alone, you could argue Beane should be fired.  3 total starters from the last three drafts.  That's horrific.  Add to that the new contact extensions that we can't get out of, and it looks to be time....

The consensus for a long time is McD is elite and Beane is elite. I called flaming horse crap awhile ago. You don’t have an MVP QB, elite HC and elite GM and not get over the hump in almost 10 years. One or more than one element to that is not as good as perceived. I would point at GM even before HC.

This just isn’t a championship caliber roster and it’s been going backwards for awhile now. Iteration one was far better than two. Like light years better. We are no longer getting the Beasley, Brown, Poyer or Hyde FA’s. That quality has been replaced with tier 2 acquisitions, fringe starters serving as primary players.

No, Buffalo players are not getting snubbed in the Pro Bowl or Top 100, they just aren’t very good. The consistent lack of representation on these lists is just a byproduct of it.

The good ones you mention, like Torrence and Kincaid are first rounders at positions teams rarely even use first round picks on. So ya, we sort of had to hit there.

Beane is a witch alright, it’s just in PR and sales, not talent acquisition. He has sold this entire fan base that he knows what the hell he’s doing. He even doubled down on then offseason reminding the fanbase how “dumb” it was to think we need additional WR help. Good thing we have all this C talent locked up on extension.

I thought about him, but he's still our 3rd TE on the depth chart.  He could grow to be more after this season, but as of now, no.

Very productive? He's been a good blocker but in 6 games he has 4 catches for 54 yards and a TD.

Yes thats his role block and he has been very very good at that. Check out his PFF numbers. Really impressive.

Even a player like Torrence has a lot of weeks where he is our worst rated offensive lineman. Kincaid hasn't really meaningfully contributed to this team yet as TE1 (although he looks poised to do that this year if he can stay healthy, remains to be seen).

yeah but his role was never to be a #1 TE , his role was to be a blocker and he has got allocades this year for his blocking.

I'm not dumping on him and think he could have a solid future.  I only bolded the players that are starters or making an impact.

He needs to earn his roster spot at this point.

If it were me I’d bench Coleman but if McD insists on starting him I’d line him up as a slot receiver

The problem is,  in order to do that,  you have to take either Shakir or Kincaid off the field,  and they're both clearly better than Keon.

That's one of the reasons I didn't like the pick at the time.

Am I allowed to go all the way back to the DK Metcalf Draft? B-)

I would like to see the Bills shift away from their strategy of primarily selecting pre-draft visitors in the draft. I think it artificially limits the pool of talent they are selecting from which leads to selections in the draft that are not the most talented player available.

I also think Beane and company get too enamored with specific players and do too much trading of draft picks. You guys aren't that much smarter than all the other talent evaluators in the league and your specific players don't turn out to be better. Just stay put and take the highest consensus ranked guy at the position you need help at like a normal team.

This is the problem. Random 4th and 5th round picks who play are setting the bar. After this many years of picks and free agency without needing a qb there should be more to celebrate than random late draft picks.

I agree. I’m thinking more along the lines of Coleman is a role player that enters the game as a slot receiver whenever Kincaid or Shakir needs a breather. Coleman isn’t starting material.
