To fire or not to fire?

  1. 1. It's all up to you. Do you fire Sean McDermott?

    • Yes. Gotta stop wasting Josh Allen
    • No. He turned the team around and deserves more time.

I've been saying yes for years, so there's no real question what I think. I've started basically this same poll 3 times, but let's get a snapshot of what we think right now...

It's a simple question: has the final straw broken the Buffalo's back?

Go on record!

Fire him right now?  😂 no.

Fire him at the end of the season?  Possibly….but it’s week 7.  No way to know the answer.

Everyone always worrying about “being right”.  How about let the season play out and make a decision then.

Terry believes he has a legacy leadership team in place. Don't expect anything to happen in the regular season. If we fail to get as far as last year I expect some kind of change without firing Beane and Clappy.

I think Beane's entire scouting regime needs an audit. I expect significant change here. Any coordinator changes will have to come from a performance based motivation or from Josh's urging.

Personally, i am still astounded that we have drafted no impact players on defense in the entire Pegula era.

I'm not worried about being right.

But I do think he should have been fired ever since 13 second. Anything that catalyzes and starts the search for a new coach I am for it. I'm not against "waiting until the end of the year" per se, but it won't happen at the end of the year. Everyone will be like "we just won ____ games and lost a close one to KC in the playoffs, we were so close to the sb". And rinse. And repeat

McDermott is excellent at deferring blame, and it will just be new coordinators.

This team desperately needs a fresh start.

4-2 with panic in the streets! The bleating has become almost biblical.

Rex Ryan stated he wanted to build a "bully" in Buffalo... how did that work out?  Buffalo went from 9-7 under Marrone with a top 5 defense under Schwartz. Ryan went 8-8 and then 7-9 while taking apart the best D line with the best pass rush in the league. Mario Wiliams went from 14.5 sacks to dropping into pass coverage or taking on blockers. Things usually get worse when the HC is fired.

After 2024, seven NFL head coaches were fired, and how many are doing good at this time? Since 2000, the Raiders have made 15 NFL head coaching changes. How has that worked out? Cleveland-NY Jets-NY Giants, and so on.

The sky is not falling, and when players can't contain their gaps or make tackles, blown assignments, and coverages, it falls on the players and the DC. If this stuff continues, look for McD to take over the playcalling and find a replacement for Babich. McD made the change at OC when he needed to make it.

As for the offense, wasting Josh Allen? He went 15 of 26 for 180 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs. Both Dalton Kincade and Josh Palmer were injured for this game, and suddenly, Allen had nobody to throw to...

As bad as everyone thought the Falcons were, they are the #1 team in the league in passing yards allowed. That defense is pretty darn good, and they had a bye week to get ready for Buffalo.

My thoughts are just RELAX!                 It's a long season, and it's only 6 games in.

It’s all in the eye-test, sure 4-2 doesn’t look bad at a quick glance, that is until you find the competition for those 4 w’s are a combined 3 and 17.

This team doesn’t look good. Period! Wideouts who can’t get open, small LB’s who are often injured & who lack physicality, a bad secondary, no depth where it matters,  a defensive that can’t get off the field on 3rd or 4th, questionable game management and the usual annual injury list galore.

We always seem to have the same needs left uncorrected season to season.  Sure we have a few bright spots Allen Cook Kincaid Shakir Walker, & O Line is ok but that isn’t enough. Overall this is not a good football team.  This team a critically Allen dependent!

It’s a re-run every season with the same outcome and with BB and McD not really addressing the right issues.

Tell me you don’t know the ending already?

I've been of the mind it was time to move on after the 13 seconds game blunder. The mismanagement of that game was more than just a 1 off. It was a sign of who McDermott is at his core. A risk averse, conservative coach.  He's become more aggressive since, but in the highest leverage games you know he will revert to his factory settings.

You know what you're getting. You're getting soft zone on 3rd and longs and you're getting punts when they need to go for it. I also think his overall corniness and cheesiness has just run it's course.

Id love to see Allen with a real offensive mind and then hire and pay a really outstanding D coordinator like Jim Schwartz

How about just fire him now and end our suffering. Josh Allen Heroics pull us into the playoffs and what, you argue to keep mcdermott cause he's good? Just stop. He's not good it's not good and making the playoffs doesn't even matter

I’m not suffering.  Those that are suffering should find a new past time

Real nice guy. I'm sure you'd love half the fan base abandoning the team but if they stick with McDummy McDimwit McDefense McNothing then thats exactly what is going to happen -- who wants to suffer like this? It's tragic.

I've been on the record for a while that I'm fine with moving on with McDermott because I don't think it's good team philosophy to pair a defensive HC with an elite QB in today's NFL.

McD is a decent coach but I don't see an improvement plan that breaks us out of the funk we are in. We need some fresh perspectives.

Not firing him mid season but anything other than a Super Bowl appearance this year and I can him.  Stop wasting the best QB we will ever have.

You’ve “been saying it for years”.  You’ve started the thread 3 times.   Yet you’re not worried about being right.  👌

Team starts off 4-0.  Loses two games and then we should fire the HC week 7?  So we can have Joe Brady call the plays and learn how to be a head coach at the same time?  Sounds like a plan that will gut the team for the remainder of the year.  But you never know….. count me as one to say we shouldn’t fire the coach during this season.  After the season- possibly….but let it play out

If you fire him now the OC everyone hates is now the head coach and Bobby babich is the only one coaching your defense lol. If we had some coordinator we wanted to audition for HC I’d somewhat understand it but we don’t

Half the fan base will abandon the team if we don’t fire the head coach this season??  😂 SUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE!

The answer is, you’re wrong.  But If that does happen to be the case, this fan base isn’t nearly as great as we think we are.  Luckily, we are that great and it’ll just be exactly what it has been for decades.  A great group that has a fair share of poutsters that say they are going to abandon ship, that rarely ever do

I’d fire Beane before McD but yep

I have changed on this. Was always a Beane fan but his drafts have been horrible.  McD should not be far behind. They looked ill prepared and not ready to play, that is on coaching.

There have been a lot of failures. This may not even be a playoff team after paying all their best players. I'd like to see a new GM and coaching staff.

People want to fire him mid season?

And the main reason why is that he is wasting Allen?

Firing McDermott mid season is the definition of wasting Allen

Because why?

The D will look worse?

The O will look worse?

The team will look less prepared?

???
