I thought this was interesting today.  Sal made a good point so I put the two clips together with the play they are talking about.   I wonder if McDermott was talking about Jackson or if it was someone else....honestly who else though?  This must be Sean's way of calling out young players.

Quick note for those of you who are so far advanced in your football knowledge as opposed us fat losers living in our mom's basement playing maddenwho don't watch the nfl, you already knew about this play and what happened right so spare me your personal insults.

How hard is it to play defense on this defense? Why is it rocket surgery?

THIS!!!!  I can’t for the life of me figure out the answer to this question.

Yeah, McDermott can blame whomever he wants, but the fact of the matter is that the same flaws we're seeing this season were issues in past years with completely different rosters and coordinators. He's the common denominator.

Why do you design a play to cause maye to go to his strong right side?

Against a rookie playing his 1st snaps

Why not force him to his weaker left side

Seems like it would have worked perfectly if Jackson stayed where he was supposed to be though.

benford is blitzing and he is coming fast and the interior closed the middle down.  If jackson stayed home he probably forces maye to throw it away or try and run.

bummer because it was a big play

But again why not to the left?

A coach can either:

Coach to his players and talent

Coach his players and his talent

McDermott is doing square pegs to round holes and expecting triangles.

@Coach Tuesdaysaid it

"The entire offensive structure is designed to protect the defense from having to be on the field. The entire draft and free agent approach is designed to protect the defense."

This defense isn't getting the results it need time and time again.

So a coach calls a big risk blitz on a guy who has broke contain all night?

I swear there are so many games in the McDermott era that we hear if this guy stays here or this guys just plays it this way the result would of been different. Then I'm having to go with it's a coaching problem. If his one job is to stay and contain how could he drop off in coverage... something doesn't smell right with that answer, there is no way a player can go that rogue out there without someone saying do this.

and Landon is ***** up his job, blowing contain.  And giving up a big play.  Contain is 101.  What the heck Landon?  Don't let mental mistakes cost you your Jersey.  Hoech and Larry O are returning soon, and roster spots must be made.  Make it happen Landon

Come on. They were damn good in the first half. Not in the second, unfortunately. After the break, Maye really had his way.

Just a bad game.
