[May Day 10]

Pats defense was really good.  Bills 1 too many mistakes and it bit them in the ass.  

 

 

Launch those uniforms into the sun.  Horrible experience.  No idea what number was what.

felt like we would lose this game or the falcon game. i would have preferred the falcon game, but here we are. lets just hope they don't lose that one too

Isn’t it amazing that as horrible as we played we only lost by 3 points? I guess that’s the only positive takeaway from this game

I know that he was in Buffalo before, but Rex Ryan could win with this Bills team right now.

 

Buffalo would have a defense for sure and Allen is the QB that Rex never had. I know Rex is a loudmouth and crap talker, but something must be done before McDermott wastes Allens career like Mike Tomlin did with Big Bens. If McDermott cant at least make to the Super Bowl this season he needs to pack his furniture up. Everyone is sick of Mahomes and the Swifts and their drama.

I didn't expect us to go undefeated.  

 

The coaches and players can eat some humble pie and get back to work. 

 

This, its a long season. We will be there with a few other flawed teams at the end and whoever gets hot at the right time will win it. A loss forces them to take a hard look versus a win where they skate by again. The pats* are scrappy but they have to do a lot more than this to knock us off the mountain. Time to look in the mirror and go.

The Bills D got tired in the 2nd half. 

 

Those White Outs looked like they had tin foil on the sleeves. The only white out in 70 degree weather that I've heard about is when the cocaine shipment arrives in Miami and guys like Tony Montana throws a shindig.

Part of what's going on with Benford is the Bills complete inability to get a consistent pass rush with ends and tackles.   They got to Maye last night but had to send pressure.   No corner in the league is going to look great having to try and stay in front of wideouts past their original route.

Somehow the Pats corners looked pretty good covering for 10+ seconds

He did NOT have Palmer for an easy 7-8 yards. I know what game you’re playing - it’s the “I see a player momentarily open while the QB is going trough his progressions, looking to the complete opposite side of the field”

 

When Allen reaches Palmer in his progressions, he is blanketed downfield.

 

 

You wanted Allen to throw thid 3 yard crosser… on 3rd and 10…  to make it 4th and 7?

True but I’d hoped Cook would get more passing targets. He only had four IIRC

True Josh was looking down field a lot in this game. There were a few times Cook looked open for swing passes yet not sure if Oline was prepared to block for them.

I'd like to say this was just an uncharacteristic game by a really good team.  And that's how a lot of fans are going to try and frame it.  But in reality, the Bills have a ton of glaring holes and their performance has gotten progressively worse as the season has gone along.

 

They peaked in the 4th Quarter of Week 1, against what is quickly proving to be one of the worst defenses in the entire NFL (Ravens) while they were playing mostly soft prevent.  Riding the high of that miracle comeback, they also looked pretty good in the first half against possibly the worst overall teams in the NFL (Jets), before putting in their backups and coasting the final two quarters.  Everything has been rolling downhill from that point.

 

Miami looked awful before playing us, and has been awful since almost pulling the upset.  It was hard to imagine us playing worse than we did against the Saints last week.  But then we had this abomination against the Patriots.  Total slop fest all night on offense.  The defense was strong in the first half, then got figured out by the other coaching staff and couldn't stop a thing the rest of the night.

 

I'm sure all week we will hear how the Bills weren't going to be undefeated all season, so this isn't a big deal in the long-run.  Maybe it's even a blessing, because it will serve as a wake up call.  Except every single year we watch them blow games just like this against vastly inferior opponents... leading to us eventually getting the #2 or #3 seed, and traveling to Arrowhead in the playoffs.  Don't look now, but the Chiefs now control their destiny in the AFC race.  They have been playing better than us over the last 2-3 games, and against a much more difficult schedule.

The Chiefs load the field with speed but Andy Reid knows how to scheme them open.  Brady for the most part doesn’t do the same.

Well that was a mess, mostly because we let the fuh king pats get a win, with any luck this should sharpen the point of the spear for the remainder of the season, 

 

In the meantime we should fire all the injured players for getting injured, and the entire coaching staff, just to quench my general sports angst, 😁🤣😆😂

I'm not sure they played any worse than they have in any other game, all of which showed multiple problems almost across the board. The difference this week was the referees, who were killing Bills drives left and right and ignoring all but the most flagrant Patriots fouls. Apply this same 1-5 imbalance to all of the other games, and the Bills could easily be 2-4 instead of 4-2, and instead of being widely considered an elite team, they would be (perhaps accurately) viewed as a critically flawed team, with a below-average defense and an offense too dependent on Allen and Cook. And it would be the same team. 

 

My point isn't to bemoan a corrupt league (although I think it is corrupt) but rather to point out that the Bills are not as good as we think their record indicates. Cornerback, safety, pass rush, run defense, wide receivers... they're really quite poor at all these positions. Fortunately, they're very strong or elite at QB, O-line, running back, and tight end. Can the strengths overcome the weaknesses? I'd say no, not unless the defensive reinforcements shore up the defense quite a bit (I think they will) AND the Bills acquire a downfield threat at WR.
