Safety Xavier Watts has two interceptions so far this year.  He was taken with the bills third round pick traded for Amari Cooper.

i will never let this go, it was a major mistake.

What were your public feelings about the Amari Cooper trade at the time it happened?

We’re such a good FO with our late round picks. It’s actually very impressive and also maddening because they SUCK (outside of cook) in the 2nd/3rd round. I wish they’d just get playmakers early. Trading up was fine but what if you did it for Luther Burden to help Josh out instead of another who cares DT, 2 years in a row Carter over Troy Franklin and Sanders over Burden. I honestly believe it’s only because we have a defensive HC that we keep going to this well early in the draft while neglecting the WR position by just throwing cash at scrubs who haven’t done anything in league like Samuel and Palmer.

I understand your frustration but both McDermott and Beane have stated many times that the team's philosophy is that you win football games in the trenches.

This is their philosophy.

My biggest red flag about Landon Jackson is that he has not replaced the very bad Defensive End, Javon Solomon. If you can't at least get by him on the depth chart, that is a sign of Trouble with a capital "T"

A few things on the subject:

1) Solomon is a core special teamer.

2) This is Solomon's audition. It's his last big chance to show he belongs before they make a decision on him.

3) The team is winning without Jackson and still has plenty of time to ease him into a rotation based on Solomon's performance... there's no reason to rush.

I was pissed and said as much in the thread the minute it happened.

I then got bombarded with dislikes and stalkers for the next few weeks constantly going back and pointing out that I thought it was a terrible trade.  I accepted that they basically paid cleveland more to eat the money but I still hated it.

I even got a temp ban and threats in my messages when I pointed it out later in the year again.  I believe I was told I was crusading.

oh well.  This year I feel the exact same way about bosa.  Thankfully he only takes cap space and not draft capital away.

It wasnt nearly that many. It was more like 2 drops each his rookie and 2nd year, with one of those memorable drops being during the 2023 Cowboys game, when he already had over 150 yards rushing (1 rushing TD) and 42 yards receiving (with a TD catch as well). But folks only remember the drop that happened late in the game when we were already blowing them out.

Memorable drops count way more than regular drops, just like with catches. Ask Stevie Johnson.  I think Lynn Swann made it into the HOF based largely upon one super acrobatic catch in a Super Bowl.

He was never great….I know….different times….

OBJ got multiple huge FA contracts, all based on one catch.

I would add that Solomon also has a year under the system, which is not all about a pass rush. As I mentioned in my other post in this thread, McD mentioned that LJ is getting close, which I interpret at understanding the system well enough to warrant play time.

The next bad groin or turned ankle may be the opening of that door for Jackson. It’s the NFL,  and it’s a long season.

One more time since it's already been mentioned a couple of times:  Solomon plays STs.  Jackson, at this point, does not, so he's behind Solomon.

Yeah, we know that.  I'd prefer they address the bigger need, which is pass rush, and find someone else to take Solomon's place on ST.  Solomon is hurting us in the rotation, which one would think if Jackson offered any improvement he'd be out there.  That's what is disappointing.

At this point, it is of no consequence, they see enough that he is not on the practice squad, means they think he could be grabbed by another team, no knowing for certain, but that is conventional thinking in cases like this. Again, not concerned.

Missing on 3rd round picks you trade up for happens; doing it two years in a row shouldn’t.

“Still in the league” is a low standard

So an athlete that can play in the NFL is a low standard, WTF are you thinking…, out of the how many thousand college guys, the very few who make it to the NFL, and then stick for years is a low standard?  Be better than that UC, its like you’re not even trying…,

Dewayne Carter was dreadful with loud rumors he never tore his Achilles and Jackson has yet to take the field. That's 2 consecutive 3rd round picks that provide nothing to the team. The frustrating part is we were told the defense would be rebuild in the draft and we are getting no production from multiple day 2 picks. Maybe you are the one that needs to be better Donny Boy.

So you see no difference between a 3rd round pick and an UDFA?

ln today's NFL you expect contribution for 3rd round picks. Especially, when you trade up in a Super Bowl window and your existing defense is the glaring weakness that has kept the Bills out of championship contention.

This is sad. Gee, I have to wonder why the 3rd round was (cherry) picked. Why not the 2nd round, or the 4th and 5th rounds?

Oh! I think I know! That wouldn’t put the FO in a bad light, and that is why we get out of bed in the morning. You don’t judge a draft just a few weeks in. You certainly don’t judge one round and think that is a meaningful comment on the FO.

Let’s put this level of effort into 4th and 5th round picks? How do we look now? Genius? The truth is somewhere in the middle, as usual.

wtf.

OBJ had 4100 yards and 35 TDs his first 3 seasons. OROY, 3x ProBowler and 2x AP2.

But sure, it was all because of one catch.

Legitimately one of the most egregious takes I have ever seen on here.

I suppose you think that WRs are more important than OLers, too.

Wait, you mean Beane made two bad draft picks? In the second round? Yeah, he clearly needs to be fired. Sure, they just missed the Super Bowl last year, but still, two missed 2nd rounders, hey, that's really case closed.

* Sigh *

Any list that has Cody Ford and Boogie Basham as not bad picks is a bad list. This is kinda obvious if you read the post I responded to

SB contender gives up a 3rd to get some juice in the passing game 😂.. didn’t work out.. Bishop has a single pick therefore Xavier is twice as good 👍
