Ayjent Posted September 27 Posted September 27 If you know a team’s proclivity to steal and how… seems like you already know how to stay a step ahead by using that to take advantage of what they think your team is going to do. That’s the best way to make them think twice about it. Quote

Liam Coen was asked about this at a press conference today and he didn't deny it, just said he didn't want to talk about it. How does this affect your opinion of NFL games knowing this might be a thing? Do the Bills do it? How much of what we blame on our team could just be the result of the other coaching staff knowing our plays ahead of time, rather than execution or effort or Xs and Os coaching prowess? Do the Chiefs do this in our playoff games? https://www.si.com/nfl/why-robert-saleh-accused-jaguars-sign-stealing In the sense that Saleh is talking about, all NFL teams try to do it. They subscribe to services like PFF that track plays called or defenses used by down and distance and personnel on the field. They look for tendencies and patterns. They look for tells in the cadence and the movement of the QB's hands - early on, Peyton Manning called out a "tell" he spotted with Josh Allen and told him during a Manningcast to correct it. And yes, the Chiefs have done this to the Bills. Probably the most effective was the 2020 playoff game, where the Chiefs had a whole season of empty stadium play calls to analyze and they did it. What Saleh is saying is that McVay's coaching tree is very successful, more successful than most, and the Jags among them. He's not saying that the Jags or anyone are doing what the Cheatriots did, where they were videotaping practices, intercepting radio feeds, and recording opponents sidelines. Quote

I think he's also alluding to that they are picking up on their in-game signs Like they're not changing their hand signals week to week.. so they're picking up their hand signals on game tape.. dissecting it till they know what it means And they're not changing it up enough that it becomes predictable You'll see our linebackers or secondary players giving hands signals to each other all the time which is coming from the sidelines a good amount... You have to change those signs up or they can be deciphered Crossing x on your forehead can't mean the same thing every week if you're a linebacker relaying signs... Same thing with a offensive audible with a hand gesture.. you have to switch it up at QB or even vocal audible... Golden Wheels can't be the same play every week or it's going to be a tell Edited September 28 by Buffalo716 1 Quote
Saint Doug Posted September 28 Posted September 28 There’s ways if masking signs if you know they are watching. Plus, talent trumps sign stealing 6/7 days a week. Quote

wppete Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Everyone does it in pro and college football. Also everyone in Baseball does it. Nothing new here. Part of the game. Quote
Orlando Buffalo Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I think Salah is insinuating that the way they steal it is using something beyond what is legal. Because otherwise he comes off stupid and whiny Quote
PoundingDog Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Pete Prisco said on ESPN radio this morning that the scoop is Liam Coen and Robert Salah developed bad blood as the finalists for the jags HC gig. It is inconceivable to me how candidates for a job can become so hostile without any other stories behind it. Quote

Sounded like Salah basically threatened to kill coen Quote

Because otherwise he comes off stupid and whiny I get that sense too. If everyone does it, like some in this thread allude to, then why point the finger at that coaching tree? Why did Coen react like that if it's a nothingburger? Maybe there's more to it that Saleh can't say? Quote
Mat68 Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Saleh to me has always come off like a prick. As DC of SF as head coach of the Jets. Saleh throws shade then poorly back tracks it. Coen right to be pissed and talk ***** after the win. 1 Quote
