ChevyVanMiller Posted September 18 Posted September 18 "I think if I knew how to get over that hump, we would've gotten over that hump already," Allen said. Allen has become all too familiar with the line of questioning as the Bills' quest of reaching the Super Bowl has extended over the years. His seven playoff wins are the most by any quarterback in NFL history without a Super Bowl appearance. Allen is now a winner of the league's MVP award and widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. So, the question comes up often. "... You have to continue to keep giving yourself chances, and I feel like, one thing that I've for sure learned this last offseason is trusting in God's timing. It's never wrong, and when it's meant to happen, it'll happen, and you just got to continue to keep putting yourselves in opportunities where it could happen." https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42445869/buffalo-bills-josh-allen-new-perspective-2025-season 8 5 Quote
Nephilim17 Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Good article. The following quote I heard him say on TV or in a video and I like it a lot: "I just want to play football and whatever happens, happens, and focusing more on the process than the results and letting go of that expectation and going out there and just playing to the best of my abilities no matter what and just being where my feet are." Some may not like it, but I think this is the right way to approach football and life. Focus on the process, not the outcome. That doesn't mean you don't prepare for your ideal outcome, but you're rooted in the moment and what you can control. I think it might help take the edge of anxiousness off some bigger moments, which, ironically, might help achieve the ultimate goal. He's about halfway through his career and I know I'll never root for another athlete like him so I'm enjoying it all I can. In a decade or so, his generational greatness could just be a memory. We are blessed to have him as a QB and person. 3 17 Quote

Like anything in life, many times you have to spend a lot of time putting in the dirty, behind the scenes work to build the foundation before you achieve the ultimate glory 5 3 Quote
SoMAn Posted September 18 Posted September 18 (edited) Just for perspective: Three QBs from one of the greatest QB classes (1983)John Elway, Kelly, and Marino, appeared in 8 losing efforts in super bowls before Elway finally won one in his penultimate, 15th season. Winning again in his final year. side note: the Bills are notorious for losing 4 in a row, but I'd completely forgotten the Elway and the Broncos lost 3 of 4 in the late 80s. Josh is still relatively young for a modern day QB. I believe Josh, with the right supporting cast, will get to a Super Bowl, and hopefully bring the Lombardi home to Buffalo. Will it happen this year? We'll find out. But, there are 31 other teams with the same dream, and probably at least 8 for which it's a realistic goal. One thing I'm certain of is that Josh Allen hungers to bring that championship to the people of Buffalo and that he will give 100% to make it happen. Edited September 18 by SoMAn 5 4 Quote

Bob Ladouceur was the legendary head football coach at De La Salle High School in California who won 151 consecutive games, the longest win streak in American sports history. Amazingly, unlike some other coaches at successful programs, Lad didn't recruit. He took whatever kids he had and taught them to play hard and execute at an extraordinarily high level. And he didn't talk about winning. His culture was centered on personal accountability, meticulous preparation (aka process), and teamwork. Some quotes... “We never really talked about it (the winning streak) much...I told them to hustle and play to the best of their abilities. And, when we won some games but played poorly, everyone knew not to be satisfied.” “I really don't think you can win 151 games in a row if you're trying to win.” “I looked at football as a vehicle to reveal character.” “It’s not about playing a position. It’s about playing for your friends.” “I am entirely focused on you as a team. I want you to realize your full potential. This has nothing to do with winning.” Edited September 18 by hondo in seattle 5 4 1 Quote

All we can do in life is give it our best shot and let the cards fall where they may. We all worry about things and circumstances that are out of our control, and any effort to eliminate that practice is positive, in my book. 2 1 Quote

transplantbillsfan Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Good. If there's one guy in the league who I think actually should get a little weight off his shoulders it's Josh Allen. 1 Quote

I'd argue really it's only 4 or 5 that's realistic for. Might be realistic for 8 to think they could make it to the SB, but 3-4, would be getting blown out in a laugher most likely. I remember a SB winning QB, I forget who, giving a bittersweet detail after winning the SB. He said they spent six months plus together. Went through ups and downs. Formed relationships. They won the SB. Confetti flying. But what now? Now they all part for the offseason. He said he didn't know how to react. I may feel that way as a Bills fan. Even if they win it all. They are champions. An yes we celebrate for a few days. But no I'll football for 7 months!! Edited September 18 by Billsfanatic8989 Quote

And some men are successful without any kind of committed relationships. Also, some total bums are found next to amazing women too. Then there's lesbians and thats a whoooooole nother ball game right there that we don't even need to get into. In summary, relationships may or not contribute to success. 2 Quote
