Pete Posted September 11 Posted September 11 What exactly does a Walk Through practice entail? I thought it dialing in the Offensive and Defensive gameplans, with repetition. Do Walk Throughs involve tackling? Im confused when McDermott wanted to hold a hard practice today and it was a walk through. What is the typical Bills practice schedule? How do they handle post game recovery? How do they avoid over training? How do they stay fresh and optimal shape by the next Sunday game? Quote
RyanC883 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I think the hard practice was yesterday, and the walk through today. That said, I'm not sure what a walk through is in the NFL. I envision it literally walking through plays (you are here, you are there, etc) to ensure everyone on the same page. Quote
MPL Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Apparently it was a roll-through practice for Oliver 1 Quote
2003Contenders Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Each team handles walk through's differently. But typically they consist of running through the plays at half-speed (with no pads) with a focus on what the overall game plan is for offense/defense/special teams. 1 Quote
billsFORlife50 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Yeah it tends to be the Oline/Dline take there first three steps of their assignments and there is no real contact involved there just making sure everyone knows what they need to do. Skill positions tend to run close to full speed bc you still want to make sure that timing between QB and them is correct, but there should be no contact involved there either. 1 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Walkthroughs are typically with no speed where the teams go through the scripts that they plan on running on gameday usually at half speed. It’s more of a mental than physical day. Defenses go over the coverages and blitzes they will use and the offenses go over their script, down and distance plays, and red zone , two pointers Typically walkthroughs are done on the last practice of the week before the game( typically Friday for a Sunday game). So the Bills doing theirs on a Thursday could mean a couple of different things. They probably went harder yesterday in practice and they want to start tapering the players. Could be they plan on doing a double walkthrough or extremely light practice tomorrow or even the day off(highly unlikely) . 1 1 Quote
Sojourner Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Simply put its going through the game plan and assignments. Pretty much mental reps of what’s installed for the game. Quote
Draconator Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Considering who started this thread, this isn't going to end well. 1 Quote

How did Ed end up in a walking boot during a walk through day? He must of rolled an ankle is my guess Quote

Don’t think it’s been disclosed yet. At least I didn’t see anything in the thread appertaining to the news/report. Quote

We tend to judge coaches on in-game decisions but the preparations during the week are vital and determine to a large extent what happens on Sunday. But this is all invisible to me and I only dimly understand "the process." 1 Quote

reddogblitz Posted September 12 Posted September 12 All I know is Eagles did a fake walk through before their Super Bowl with The Cheats so as not to be video taped. Then they did the real one in a hotel ballroom. Otherwise the Philly Shuffle would have been sniffed out and stopped. So, it can't involve too much running and passing. Quote
