The owners are old.  They are from the reefer maddness era.  Women were seen and not heard in the ancient times, so it makes sense (to them) that beating your spouse is no worse than smoking the devil's lettuce.

The leagues substance policy has always been a joke. Completely backwards & archaic. Josh Gordon’s career ruined over Marijuana comes to mind first. I’ve always loved the way he played and I truly feel like fans were robbed of a special player. God forbid he doesn’t want to take the prescribed Oxycodone. Meanwhile, wife beaters & even murderers faced minimal repercussions because they happen to be legends. It never will make sense to me.

Josh Gordon was almost certainly testing positive for a plethora of drugs other than marijuana, but I agree that the suspensions are completely arbitrary and not commensurate with the crime.

I haven’t heard this. Do you have a source ?

it seems like the NFL suspends based on how bad something looks publicly and the backlash they will get rather than what actually happens

This is exactly how punishment is doled out by Goodell. It’s all about the optics.

Josh Gordon got suspended once for having a drink after the regular season ended. His league imposed suspension banned him drinking for the season. He misunderstood and posted a picture of himself on an airplane with a drink. The league tested him when he got off the plane and extended his suspension. He thought he could have the drink because the Browns season had officially ended, but it was through the end of the league year.

Gordon’s biggest sin was lying to Goodell in their face to face. Or at least not keeping joe word to him. He got hammered for everything after that. I heard he was running with a bad crowd and he got tagged for “purple drank”, weed and that drinking violation. He could’ve been one of the absolute best, but effed it up.

There were no charges pressed against him so essentially the NFL just decided to enact its own version of the law where you are guilty until proven innocent.

Give it a break. What he did was well known and factual. NFL should have been considerably firmer....

Josh Gordon was such an immense talent. He had HOF talent. Goodell went too far with him IMO

Exactly. This is why punishment has been seemingly unjust. The court of public opinion and social media outrage is a constantly changing landscape. The NFL just follows that outrage or lack of.

Already suspended before they signed with the Bills.

Technically, yes, but I. Spirit, my point was that the rules are always harsher on the Bills than they are on KC.

That might be true, but you'll need a relevant example.

Another reason to hate these clowns. All of them. Only if he was in ACTUAL prison for two felonies as he should be, and like the rest of us common folk would be, and not roaming the streets.

Multiple Chiefs players wore shirts in support of suspended teammate Rashee Rice prior to their home opener against the Eagles Sunday.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyquan Thornton sported warmup t-shirts with photos of Rice on them, along with the phrase “Free 4.”

People with money get off easier due to having better lawyers. Very unfortunate two tier justice system.
