Keon could salvage it.  IMO Keon has a great season.

2nd round pick- Cole Bishop- maybe the light turns on, but he looks lost out there.  He let tiny Xavier Worthy rip the ball out of his hands.  Has me made a great play yet?  Any signs of hope?

Carter- probably our weakest lineman.  He would surely be cut if he wasn’t last years third rounder.

That’s possible 1 for 3 with our first 3 picks.  .333 is good batting average in baseball, but ***** for top 3 picks.

Hopefully Keon steps up, to save this draft from being a disaster.

Cooper DeJean was top value for our pick, and whom I would have drafted.

Peter, Peter, Peter…, you know better than this, being a rabble rouser, is never a good look, now apologize, eat a cookie and take a nap, you’ll feel much better, bye now,

even worse, he traded out of the first round and gave KC Worthy to get that pick to take Carter.

another disastrous KC trade

Buffalo sent KC a 4th round pick in that trade that wound up being used for Jaden Hicks who will start at Safety this season.  So the trade wound up being Keon Coleman and Dewayne Carter for Xavier Worthy and Jaden Hicks.

Holy *****, the Ravens had 843 yards in the playoff game?!

I think the playoff game was 425 like 250. We will lose week one. More likely than not we will be blown out. The forum will explode in negativity.

By the time we play KC we will be 6-1 and people like yourself will be back on the Super Bowl bandwagon. They will be saying things like week 1 doesn’t matter. Heck, we probably even beat the Chiefs to go 7-1. Then the forum will be erupting in Super Bowl projections.

This team has regressed or is equal in weakness in multiple positions since last year. The defense will be a catastrophic failure when it matters most.  Why wouldn’t they be? It’s the same players outside of some hope a bunch of rookies and injured players change the narrative. I imagine at some point injuries will be blamed because that what we do.

Same story coming as the one you already know. Feel free to bump this post as much as you want next year. Just make sure not to forget the bump when the seasons over.

You tell me? I will not say a negative thing about McD or Beane for the rest of the season? I already have a fairly decent size wager on it and I hate betting against this team. The money is just too easy in this spot. The data clearly shows who outplayed who last year, rubber match, with the motivational edge toward Baltimore. This, on top of our normal injury issues. Easiest bet I have ever made as much as I hate it.

I mean that’s kind of dirty pool, right?

We went defense heavy in the draft, I thought, because we really need a defensive impact NOW.  We drafted Coleman and Bishop because we had massive holes at WR and S NOW, and needed them to contribute, right?

But you also say, we need to be patient with these rookies. So are we expecting not much improvement in the defense from the 2025 rookie class? If the defense is the near worst in the league in 3rd down % again, and generally mediocre in most stats, will we need another entire rookie class to start to contribute maybe in 2028?

And I not only liked Worthy more than Coleman I liked Hicks more than Bishop too.

The Bills will never win anything with McBeane in control there I said it.

How do you consider it "dirty pool"? It's simply fact that most Drafted Rookies don't light the league on fire in Year 1. Especially when you're consistently picking at the bottom of Round 1.

Yes, you need to be patient with Draft Picks. You can't rely on them to get the NFL game down immediately. And the Bills aren't doing that on Defense this year. They have fall back plans everywhere.

We're not just relying on Maxwell Hairston and Dorian Strong. We signed Tre White and Dane Jackson. We're not just relying on T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker. We signed Larry Ogunjobi. We're not just relying on Landon Jackson. We signed Joey Bosa and Michael Hoecht.

Of course you *want* to find 1st year impact players in the Draft. But the Draft is a crap shoot as is. It's an even bigger crap shoot if you're wanting to see major Year 1 impact. And an even bigger one still if you want Year 1 impact while consistently picking at the bottom of the Round.

Yes I couldn’t believe the rose colored glasses wearing folks here after the draft. JUST because they drafted all defense doesn’t mean they are going to significantly improve the defense THIS year. You hope your first and second round pick make an impact. With beanes track record. HA! And max is seriously hurt.

and then you hope a later round guy surprises and gets some solid starting production

bosa and Von are same to me

we’re not better on D. Or I’ll say this. We’re not Super Bowl caliber defense. Again.

You’re smarter than I was giving you credit for - genius, actually. You know why? The odds give the Bills something like a 10–14% chance of winning the Super Bowl. Which means 85–90% of the time, they don’t. So really, you’re playing the safe bet.

But hey, anyone can hang out in the shallow end with two feet on the ground. Why don’t you come test the deep water? 😉

I mean we certainly could lose week 1. It's possible. When the best teams play each other in the NFL they are flip of a coin games. I don't see us being blown out though. I would genuinely be surprised if we were. Yes, the Ravens blew us out last year week 4 - the only regular season loss by more than once score in almost 3 years - but everything that could have gone wrong that day for the Bills did, basically. Including their rookie DC having an absolute meltdown for the rest of the first half after the first play touchdown.

I think looking purely at yardage in the playoff game is a bit of a misnomer. The Ravens were behind basically the whole game from 7-0 and in catch up mode and the Bills had two scoring drives where they started 20 yards further up the field because of Ravens turnovers that as a result didn't net the yardage they might have otherwise even though they netted the points. So game flow and field position were a factor. Would the Bills have won that game without the turnovers? No, probably not. But they did get the turnovers. They have been almost historically consistent over the McDermott era in terms of generating turnovers on defense. For a stat that generally has high volatility the Bills have shown remarkable consistency.

It's Ravens - Bills. They are both excellent teams. One will win and one will lose. The result might make a difference to the one seed at the end, possibly, but otherwise it doesn't mean the winner can with the superbowl and the loser can't.

I have to agree. We went all in on defense and yet there’s a very good chance that NONE of them will be playing in a couple of weeks. Kinda makes all of those draft threads seem like an utter waste of time.

Sanders is gonna play. And play plenty. He probably won't start... but he is gonna be in that 40-45% range I'd guess.

Fantastic! We got a rotational defensive lineman out of it. Now mind you, on the Buffalo Bills literally ALL of the defensive linemen play at least some of the snaps, so it’s really not saying much.

On all NFL teams the defensive linemen rotate. I haven't crunched the 2024 numbers - but I did for 2023 and the Bills were right there on a par with most of the top 6 or 7 teams in the league. Our #1 guy generally plays a tiny bit less  - but broadly all the good teams have at least six guys getting 40% plus.

I never bet on preseason games, but I’m thinking about pounding the Bills this week.  McDermott is going to want to quiet all the chatter.
