Don't suppose you have any pictures you can post here?

I wish I knew how and that my pics did it justice. But would definitely recommend whale watching in Alaska! We also saw two bears from the shore and tons of salmon leaping. This was in Sitka.

Interesting, I had no idea.  What a terrible loss that was.

I totally agree.

Every time I see something about him online, it breaks my heart.  He was always funny and so talented in so many ways.

He also knew the importance of washing your hands!

Here's the back end of a young griz I inadvertently got way too close to last week. 🫣

Woah!  When we first moved to Alaska, I went to Walmart to purchase a firearm to use for protection from bears.  At the time I was big into fishing and the wife and I liked to hike quite a bit.  It’s a necessity to have protection from grizzly bears just in case you (last resort) needed to save your life.  Bear spray doesn’t always do the trick.

I asked the salesman to look at the Glock 9mm which I thought was a good choice.  He laughed and said “That will be good to use to shoot yourself in the head before the grizzly starts to eat you.”  😂

Well, I’d like to say on behalf of more than half of us, we’re glad that you survived that encounter.

wow. Where was that? We saw a smallish grizzly at Glacier a few months ago, all alone on a trial. Made my wife and me skittish the entire time we were there!!

Bananas contain potassium, which is an element that decays, making bananas the slightest bit radioactive. But you would probably have to consume ten million bananas worth of potassium in order to die of banana-induced radiation poisoning.

That was actually at Glacier.

About 6am on the way up to Avalanche Lake.

I was being really quiet to try and spot bears in those meadows; didn't think I'd damn near trip over one.

Trying to hit a charging grizz in that square inch between the eyes with a large caliber pistol strikes me as inappropriately funny.

You've got a waaaay better chance of putting that big cloud of pepper on the ground right in front of it, imo.

Niagara Falls has stopped flowing completely twice in recorded history.

The first time was in 1848 due to a natural ice jam, and the second was in 1969, when the American Falls were temporarily diverted for engineering studies according to Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls.

I remember the 1969 event. we road tripped to see it. The falls turned OFF. Holy cow.

Bananas are in the berry family, while strawberries are not in the berry family.

Eating a banana exposes a person to more radiation than standing near a nuclear power plant or spent nuclear fuel dry cask.

Potassium contains trace amounts of radiation, and Bananas are high in Potassium.

If you eat bananas, and sleep next to your partner, who doesn’t eat bananas.  It doesn’t matter, some tiny bit of radiation will transfer from you to them

There is a little bit of radiation (about 390 Picocurie per kilogram) of the same isotope potassium-40 in your beer too.

Some other everyday sources of radiation are smoke Detectors, watches, gem stones, exit signs.

If it’s in your beer, I think we might all be dead.
