Augie Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Is it too soon to order those little headphones for baby ears for The Parade? That should be on the baby shower gift list! Quote

My brother had a son in May. In the new stadium we have 4 seats in a row. It’ll be so fun for he and I to take the 2 little guys. That’s how we grew up going with our dad. That was those early 90’s teams. These guys will probably miss most of Josh but will still be so fun to instill that passion into them. 1 1 Quote

I was spoiled by Jack Kemp, but this Josh guy is growing on me. The quality of QB play will be WAY down the list of things they remember from their early days. I took each of my kids up from FL when they turned 16. We all cherish those memories and they cemented some life long Bills fans! I’m excited for you. 1 2 Quote
Bills!Win! Posted July 4 Posted July 4 HBO should name a football training camp show after them called Hard Knox…………………….. Quote

It was brutal - of course moreso for my wife - but in the end, we kept trying and now have my mini me, whose 17 months, and is sooooo close to saying “go bills” I think we’re like a week away. ☺️ 2 Quote

Oh, spending time caring for and bonding with your newborn and easing the load on the mother physically recovering from birth is just "milking things" now? I took 6 weeks and then 8 weeks of PFL for my first two kids. Working is easier. Way easier. Being down a person or two for injury, illness, unfilled position etc. is pretty commonplace, you adjust. Heaven forbid a new dad opt not to shove all newborn parenting duties onto the mom, though. Quote
machine gun kelly Posted July 4 Posted July 4 I’m happy for Dawson and his family. Enjoy the journey as it was a wonderful one for us. My sons are 26 and 24, and daughter 21. They’ve grown into wonderful young adults and I enjoyed every hurdle. So Dawson enjoy how wonderful being a dad is and truly fulfills you’re life. 1 1 Quote

I am all in on being a supportive father, but I’ve seen guys taking golf trips while the MIL came to town for a couple weeks to help. I think 6-8 weeks is excessive. My wife had two C-sections, and she agrees with me. That’s just my opinion, and you are free to disagree. Happy 4th of July to everyone! 1 Quote

Not just my opinion, also the stance of NYS law, which provides up to 12 weeks and thankfully provides protections against employers who think as you do. Having the opinion that any state in this country provides too much parental leave is certainly one of the opinions of all time, and is of course your right as an American to have, as we celebrate the birth of our nation. Come forward to disagree. Relax. I wanted to be fair, so I asked for my wife’s opinion, just to be sure I didn’t misunderstand. She had two C-Sections, mind you. I asked what she thought of a father taking 3 months off after the birth of a child, and she responded “I think it’s Bull^%$*! How much time do you need to sit around and watch your wife breast feed?” Help is needed initially, but only for so long. My son was entitled to 6 months off after the birth of his 2 1/2 year old and his 7 month old. He took 3 weeks and felt it was perfectly adequate, despite feeling a bit guilty about being away so long. He’s very serious about his career as well as his family, and we appreciate that. My wife said “we raised him right.” NOBODY is more family oriented than my wife, and she says it speaks to work ethic. She says especially if you are in sales (her field) if you take 3 months off you just don’t have the proper DNA for your job. What kind of job you have makes a difference here to some degree, imo. I’ve been deliberately misled (a/k/a lied to) regarding maternity situations, but I suppose anywhere you have a loophole in anything, people will take advantage of it. Life experiences can alter our opinions. I wish you nothing but the best for you and your family, and it’s great that we can have different points of view. . Edited July 4 by Augie 2 Quote

Heaven forbid a new dad opt not to shove all newborn parenting duties onto the mom, though. I had five months of paid paternity leave with my son. I have a very stressful job. I have over 500 employees in my span of control (obviously directors who work for me, managers for them, etc, etc). But like everyone, work is “stressful.” Without question, those 5 months of pat leave were the hardest job I’ve ever had, by orders of magnitude. I think some folks on here are baby boomers, who I believe the stat is that something like 80% never changed a diaper… And if it shows my lack of work ethic, GOOD. I know on my death bed I won’t say “I wish I had spent one more month on that project to make my company another couple million.” I will say “I wish I had 1 more minute with Liam.” Edited July 4 by stevestojan 1 Quote
