It looked like it was going to go off the rails early between the slow start in period 1 and the stupid challenge by Ruff on the Senators second goal. The fans really woke up after Ruff's challenge was unsuccessful and channeled all their frustrations at the officials. Had Ottawa scored on the next 4 minutes of power play and the short 2 man advantage there might have been a riot. I know everyone in the world thought another heart breaking collapse was coming when Ottawa scored 2 quick goals early in the 3rd. I did. 3rd goal was a little lucky and a crazy tip in. 1 out of 100 might go in but Ottawa's 4th goal was an inexcusable lapse in communication between Dahlin and Timmins. The epic bed pooping was on. Positives: Two pivotal moments in this game and the Sabres kept their composure long enough for McLeod to deliver two huge goals. There is a lot to like about the Doan - Tuch - McLeod line. Doan isn't the greatest player but I love his game. He is tough to play against and has a little bit of offensive potential. Benson was immediately noticeable. Some puck luck Negatives Puck luck, lots of it. Giving up 4 goals. Maybe the second one was goaltender interference and maybe the 3rd one was lucky but still. This team is not going to score 5 goals a night even with Norris, Kesselring, and Greener in the lineup. They probably lose that game 7 times out of 10. The advanced stats that I barely understand say we got lucky. https://www.naturalstattrick.com/ 1 Quote
May Day 10 Posted Thursday at 06:50 PM Posted Thursday at 06:50 PM Yeah, sure. They scored on 30% of their shots including one off the glass. The NHL is a marathon though and lots of random and weird results happen night to night. 1 Quote

T&C Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Not a bad 1st... would love for us to extend the Panthers to 4 losses in a row.. 1 Quote
T&C Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Surprised that Marchand didn't get the boot for that bull#### move... And he costs the Panthers a goal lol... as it should be. Edited 11 hours ago by T&C Quote
QCity Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Jekyll and Hyde team, but it sure is fun when this version shows up. Lyon shuts out the defending Stanley Cup champs. Did UPL just lose his job? 1 Quote

UConn James Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) Suspension / fine incoming for Marchand. Actually ripped apart Dahlin's helmet and threw it back onto the ice from the penalty box. How did he only get 2 minutes for that scrum? (I only saw the highlight.) Edited 8 hours ago by UConn James Quote
Augie Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I was a big Sabres fan when I left WNY for college in 1977. They were good and fun to watch then, so that was pretty easy. It was almost impossible to keep up with an out of town NHL team in those days. A lot has changed since then, and I’m thinking of coming back. It will fun to be there on the ground floor as we build toward a championship team! That shouldn’t take more than a few weeks, right? 1 Quote

I actually like Marchand and the nhl is always better with villains. However, sabatoging another player's equipment like that, once camera should have been a game misconduct. They missed it for whatever reason so he should get a suspension of a game Quote

BillsFan4 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago That was definitely their best game of the season so far. Good in all phases - PK, PP and 5v5 for all 3 periods. They played with energy, forechecked hard and stuck up for each other. Good team D too. Like Dahlin said, that’s how they need to play every game moving forward. If they do they will win more often than they lose. Really loving what Josh Doan is bringing to this team. I feel like Doan and Benson both raise the compete level of the entire team. They both look like very important players to the Sabres future right now. Hopefully that holds true. lol Timmins has been a welcome addition so far too. He’s been great on the PK and holding his own 5v5. He looks better than Clifton for sure. Once Kesselring is back he should be a really solid 3rd pair D for the Sabres. I can’t wait to see what Kesselring adds to the team. If he has an impact similar to or better than Doan, that could end up being a really nice trade for Buffalo. 🤞🤞 These last 2 games have me getting a bit excited about Sabres hockey again. I sure hope they can keep playing like this and banking some wins. 3 1 Quote
