B-Man Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago War Is Over (If You Want It)? Ed Morrissey We've seen the Hundred Years War. We've seen the Thirty Years War. We've even seen the Six Day War. Could the conflagration between Donald Trump and Elon Musk become known as the Ten Hours War? Maybe we need a new olive-branch emoji on X, one with a dove wearing a MAGA hat: Elon Musk tried to de-escalate his spiraling feud with Donald Trump last night as White House aides organized a crisis call between the warring billionaires. ... Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman stepped into the fray, posting a plea on X for the two men to reconcile 'for the benefit of our great country,' warning that 'we are much stronger together than apart.' Musk, who became one of Trump's closest allies during the election campaign and then as head of his DOGE cost cutting taskforce, responded with a brief but telling reply: 'You're not wrong.' The unexpected comment was seen by some as an olive branch, suggesting he may be eager to deescalate their feud which finally exploded in public after weeks of rumored tension. Whatever else happens, that was good advice, and Trump was wise to take it. As annoying as the public feud might be -- and one has to wonder just how annoyed either massive ego actually got at the attention -- Musk is a sideshow. (That realization may be what set off Musk in the first place.) The real matter at the moment is getting 50 Senate Republicans to pass the House's reconciliation bill to lock in the 2017 tax rates permanently, and then start working on more cuts in the appropriations process for FY2025-26. There will be time during the summer recess for splashy, gossipy feuds with celebrities. For both men. Anyway. This war will come to an end soon, because both men have more to lose than to gain from it, or because this has mainly been kayfabe all along. I'd bet on the former over the latter still, but either way, the Ten Hours War has been a silly interlude for both of the combatants ... and for the rest of us as well. Update: Hold off on the MAGA olive-branch emoji, at least for a while: https://hotair.com/ed-morrissey/2025/06/06/war-is-over-if-you-want-it-n3803523
LeviF Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Haven't read much of this thread so forgive me if it's been stated already, but this seems to be a clear window into how the 47 admin runs. Musk has his heart in the right place, but Stephen Miller has been chosen to drive this train because Trump values his demonstrated loyalty throughout the last decade over whatever exposure and money Elon provided in the last 11 months or so. Musk's inability to read a room combined with his (justified) head-banging frustration with Congress resulted in the tantrum we're seeing. 1 3
Joe Ferguson forever Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) Everyone trump touches is diminished. Or are they? https://www.msn.com/en-us/politics/government/the-dark-maga-conspiracy-where-musk-destroys-trump-and-democracy/ar-AA1GceZh interesting read about the tech bros conspiracy to take over the government. More plausible than most conspiracies. We are perhaps not far off from seeing the Dark MAGA conspiracy theory involving Musk come to life. It goes like this: A secret cabal of tech bros was plotting to usurp Trump and turn the United States into a giant company run by a CEO they would install in his place. The whole concept started to gain traction after JD Vance was chosen as Trump’s running mate. Vance wasn’t Trump’s choice. Donald wanted Fox News host Maria Bartiromo. Musk wanted Vance, and so did PayPal founder Peter Thiel. Their multi-million-dollar campaign war chest was dependent on the choice that Trump got pushed into. According to the “Dark MAGA” or “Dark Enlightenment” theory, Vance was groomed by Silicon Valley billionaires as Trump’s successor. He was their man in government. He was their sleeper. The theory has its roots in Musk and Thiel’s involvement in PayPal, the company that launched their fortunes. Other PayPal executives went on to lead other tech firms as part of a so-called “PayPal Mafia.” Edited 13 hours ago by Joe Ferguson forever 1

I think it's great. Never buy gas for trips around town. Still have an ICE for roadtrips. This seems to be the most popular combination for EV adopters in my neck of the woods. The future is 99 percent electric. We have ceded this tech to China …and want to continue…What a joke maga is

The long range thing is the only issue holding them back, but that will come. A nudge in the EV direction strikes me as good policy for all of those reasons.

Sorry, honestly missing it - I’m not doubting it because nothing is out of bounds nowadays but fill me in?. Simplified. 1

And I'll bet other posters here in States with high income and property taxes. As for removing the EV tax credit, the big majority of people buying a Tesla EV are high earners that probably don't need it. I see lots of Teslas in my section of town and at present I think they're just a rich man's toy and before Musk got tangled up with Trump a way for liberals to virtue signal they're concern for the environment if you ignore the 2 giant gasoline powered SUVs in their driveway. Why should a farmer in South Dakota subsidize millionaires living in Weschester county?

dgrochester55 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I see Musk the same as I did before, Brilliant, innovative, key to Trumps's election, but also a self-absorbed narcissist like most ultra rich billionaires have to be to get to that level. Him and Trumps goals aligned for months, but I always knew that he had his own agenda and goals in mind. I don't mean that in a discrediting way, just that it was naive to assume differently and it is not Musk's fault if others did. As far as the tiff, both acted childish yesterday, but Musk crossed a line by threatening to remove SpaceX which could jeopardize astronauts. If any lefties whether politicians, celebrities or regular people suddenly love Musk after six months of acting like he is the worst threat on the planet, it is concrete proof that their opinion is solely dictated by the media and/or TDS. I must say that I have not seen much of that here in the last few pages and I am pleasantly surprised. Edited 9 hours ago by dgrochester55 1
