Pete Posted yesterday at 12:19 PM Posted yesterday at 12:19 PM I’ve used radio.com app to listen to WGR daily for years. This morning when I hit play, no sound, and an ad appeared. I closed out ad, hit play, another ad. I restarted app, no play, ads, upon ads. I removed the radio.com garbage app. FOandD radio.com you greedy sheisters! 1 Quote
K D Posted yesterday at 12:21 PM Posted yesterday at 12:21 PM It's on audacy app But WGR sucks no matter what app you use 😛 1 1 6 9 1 Quote
FLFan Posted yesterday at 12:28 PM Posted yesterday at 12:28 PM The app is not working for me this morning either. Just stopped suddenly 30 minutes or so ago. The app sucks worse than the content. 1 Quote
boyst Posted yesterday at 12:33 PM Posted yesterday at 12:33 PM One of the best NFL sources of news is NFL radio on Sirius. Outside of the strictly players shows designed to talk with players in the league or recently out of it which has about all the average intelligence of a rock there are great shows, including with former players. There are few hot takes or people who look to have wild takes for interaction. Booger McFarland is a complete clown though. 2 Quote
DD4Bills Posted yesterday at 12:49 PM Posted yesterday at 12:49 PM Yep, WGR went down for a while this morning on the Audacy app, but I just checked and it's back now. Quote

I like when Marino, Greg Cosell, Dan Orlasky, are on. I like the player reports and interviews. I like Brown and Tasker. Yes they are Bills homers. So am I. I like Sal. I love the Hump day song 4:00 every Wednesday. I like Marty and Paul- I can’t wait until Sabres start crushing! Then those two will have something happy to talk about. I enjoy some of the calls. but I get what your saying. Jeremy and Joe cried when Josh Allen was drafted instead of Josh Rosen. That tells you all about their football knowledge. Schoop and Bulldog wanted to trade two #1 picks and more, for Brandon Ayuk. And they were killing Bills offense before Amari. Their mantra was “Everyone Snacks”. So some more aggressive bad radio Edited yesterday at 12:58 PM by Pete 2 4 1 2 Quote

So some more aggressive bad radio I'm largely in agreement with this. I might go farther. I was in the same spot as Jeremy when they drafted Allen. I believed the national articles about him. I can't be too critical of Jeremy for it because I did the same thing. The hosts end up talking sports for 20 hours of programming each week...even during the off season. Any host is going to make some bad calls. That is not unique to our market. National guys are often brutally wrong. But Brown and Tasker are homers! Sure, but I can't criticize them for being homers and then criticize the afternoon show for their everybody snacks snark. The fact is that WGR neither sucks nor is awesome. Personal taste will mean that I might like some people more than others, but Pete nailed it - it is still like oxygen. 2 2 Quote

Between the two dodos Gary and Randy doing Sportscenter AM, Stephen A., Pat McAfee, Orlovsky and Booger, ESPN has fatally jumped the shark. I find myself going to the internet and just reading rather than watch ESPN's harakiri lineup. 1 Quote

Marino's podcast is really good 1 1 Quote

For those of us outside the Buffalo market, anything is better than the local stuff in most cases. I listen to Schopp and the Bulldog on my drive home. Some folks don't like them, but for me it's something. But I gotta say, they have the best gig in the world. They would go several weeks at a time where neither would work a full 5 days. One of them would be off at least one day a week. It doesn't bother me they take days off. What bothers me is they don't get a fill-in. One of them would do the show solo and just babble for 20 minutes at a pop. That's the worst radio content you can do. You need the back and forth, or at least do a bunch of callers. Their 4-hour show 5-days / week is really a 3 1/2 hour show 4 days / week. Their last half hour is always replayed content from earlier in the show. Quote

Thank God for access to other means of sports talk and info. Where in Connecticut? Madison/Clinton straight line thru Waterbury is Red Sox - Yankees line. So we got NYC, CT, and Boston stations. Bills would be on local television every time we played the Jets and Patriots. Between the many CBS and NBC stations- sometimes Bills would be on. I’d watch Sabres-Bruins on NESN and MSG. Mets were 9, Yanks were 11, Red Sox 38. Knicks and Celtics. UConn. ESPN Bristol CT. WNBC 660 sports radio could be hilarious. When callers call out Franseca for BS or the late night phone calls lol. They took calls all night! 😂 much, much simpler times, but for a chunk of my life, I enjoyed Connecticut sports coverage 2 Quote
CBD Posted yesterday at 02:03 PM Posted yesterday at 02:03 PM I listen to WGR using the apple podcasts app. Download the segments. can fast forward, no commercials. 1 Quote

So some more aggressive bad radio Same. Former WNYer, longtime Bills fan. I have about a 25 minute commute each way during the week. There's nothing on local radio I want to listen to*, and I've had the same CDs in my car for 3 years**. So, I pull up Audacy and listen to 20 minutes of Bills talk on the way in and on the way home. * broadcast radio is unbearable with at least 50% of any hour now filled with commercial advertising (the same ads over and over). ** Yes, I still have the same car with a 6-disc CD player that I bought new, 18 years ago. My wife's car we bought new 20 years ago. They both run great, so I'm having a hard time justifying getting another new car. 😄 But, I'm looking. 1 Quote
