Ya I put it on Caleb and the preparation for those situations Caleb needs to know there is no check out but the coach needs to prep him he also should have said it in the headset and once it got down to ten secs just call the timeout to save any chance of a fg Quote

Sweats Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I can't honestly believe that the last 30 seconds of that game was mental error or poor clock management by anyone in that organization.......the whole thing looked staged to me. Caleb standing there, not calling a play with time ticking down till 5 seconds left then throws a bomb into triple coverage, no TO called and not even considered. Like come on, man......that whole fiasco looked like it was on purpose. 1 Quote
Beast Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I don’t like seeing people fired but this was deserved. Quote

The head coach should have called timeout as soon as he saw him changing plays but at the same time it speaks to how much williams lacks awareness. This. No situational awareness whatsoever. Apparently he thought that had no timeouts so he checked out of the play. Eberflus should’ve called a timeout immediately. What a clownshow. 2 Quote

Why the qb draw? Playing for a Fg and overtime? Play got blown up. Call the time out as a hc. Had time for a fire drill fg or spike with a first down. 1 Quote
Sweats Posted November 29 Posted November 29 You have 2 options in that moment..... 1) call a TO 2) run the play as fast as possible Seeing as how neither option was even considered at that point, someone has to get fired over it. 2 Quote
paulmm3 Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Too bad for the Bears they're still stuck with Caleb Williams. I said when the Giants cut Daniel Jones that I'd take Daniel Jones over Caleb Williams any day of the week and I stand by that. 1 1 2 Quote
Sweats Posted November 29 Posted November 29 You have the chance to take the Lions to OT with 30 second on the clock and completely blow it........if that was the Bills and JA, i like those odds. 1 Quote
Mat68 Posted November 29 Posted November 29 He was always a lame duck head coach. Not hiring Harbaugh because Warren and Poles were too insecure will always be a massive failure. This is where weak ownership destroys the franchise. Very much a Brandon, Whaley situation when Pegula first bought the team. Why draft a qb #1 and keep the win nothing head coach? Quote

As a rookie that's especially toxic and needs time to develop his mental game. I'm with others that the clock mismanagement is totally on Eberflus. Bad enough he hasn't sufficiently prepared his rookie QB for that scenario but job ending that he didn't recognize it and burn the last timeout to regroup and preserve clock time. Quote

I was wondering the same thing. It almost looked like the center snapped the ball too early the way the OTs were so easily smoked. Quote

The press conference is what got him fired so unceremoniously. You can’t seriously go up there after that fiasco and claim you did the right thing. Edited November 29 by vincec 1 1 Quote
