Expand This kind of thing absolutely must factor into the conversation. Regardless of the sport, the MVP award is hugely significant in a player's all-time legacy. Over the last 4-5 seasons, Josh Allen has consistently been one of the top runners-up to the award. Even when his statistics have been better, he's been edged out by someone else due to other outside factors (team record, surrounding players, big game performance, etc.) Last year was obviously the most relevant to that conversation, since Lamar Jackson won it, despite being outside the Top 10 in both touchdowns and yards. How will NFL historians look back at this era in 20-25 years. If Jackson is somehow a 3x MVP during this period, then he would certainly have been the most dominant player in the league, with the best stats and the best team. Yet strangely, when you add everything up... Allen has the better stats by far, along with a better record. That can't happen unless the voters are changing criteria every single year. 3 1 3 Quote

rpmfla Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I don't really care about individual awards in team sports, so I haven't paid much attention to this MVP "race" outside of Buffalo YouTube channels and Bills sites (which all seem to have already given him the award). I've been a Bills fan since the 60s and of course would like to see Josh win MVP. I have not watched the Ravens or Philly at all this season other than the game where Baltimore blew out the Bills. Just going by stats, isn't Lamar having a better season? To give Josh the award because Lamar won it twice already just seems to lessen the validity of the MVP. Is it more about who is most valuable to their team or who is the best player in the league? I'd say Josh is the most valuable to his team (they would likely not even make the playoffs without him) but I don't follow the rest of the league so I can't say where he ranks as far as best player overall. Expand A friend of mine always harps on the fact Josh skips the pro bowl for golf, even when he's picked or as an alternate. He thinks this hurts Josh amongst his peers and the media hype stuff. Expand The dude gets snubbed pretty much every year…he’s skipped twice when they’ve tried to name him an alternate which I honestly kind of like. The one year he got actually selected the pro bowl got all messed up by Covid. Absolutely criminal he’s only been voted in once and the game was canceled can’t even just blame fans fan voting is a small percentage of the selection process I think the nfl world finally realized they haven’t been giving Josh enough credit this year which is why things are leaning pretty strongly his way despite Lamar looking slightly better on paper. Daboll/Diggs etc were getting more credit for Josh’s success than they rightfully deserved and there’s really no alternate explanations to try to diminish him anymore Edited January 8 by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 Quote
